Border Patrol Agent Deaths Continue to Rise
Border Patrol agents are coming under continuing attacks from both illegal aliens, bandits and drug smugglers. Border Patrol Agent Deaths have been an issue since they first started on an irregular basis in 1904 to stop illegal crossings. Since that time, 111 Border Patrol Agent deaths, in the line of duty, have been recorded. But, consider this; In 2005 there were 773 recorded attackson Border Patrol Agents in the US. In 2009, there were 1073 attacks! In fact, according to the article linked, there is a U.S. Border Patrol Agent attacked every eight hours. Let me repeat that, There is a U.S. Border Patrol Agent attacked every eight hours. That is an astounding statistic. Since the year 2000, 21 Border Patrol Agents have died in the line of duty. Three were killed last year, including Brian Terry (pictured).
Brian Terry and several other Border Patrol Agents ordered a group of illegal aliens to drop their weapons last December 15th in the Peck Canyon, northwest of Nogales. The illegals refused. As is procedure under U.S. Border Patrol guidelines, the Border Patrol Agents fired at the illegals with beanbags first, before firing the real thing. That's right, beanbags. What's that old saying? Never bring a knife to a gunfight? Well, that apparently is the rule of thumb for our Border Patrol. Unfortunately, the illegals did not fire back with beanbags. They opened fire with real weapons, AK-47s, mortally wounding Border Patrol Agent Brian Terry. Four of the illegals escaped back into Mexico, presumably. One was wounded and captured. Osorio-Arellanes is recovering from wounds he suffered the night of December 15, 2010. He has not been charged with the shooting death of Agent Brian Terry. He is simply charged with illegal entry and is awaiting deportation hearings. One agent dead because of a group of illegals doing whatever it is illegals do, which is breaking the law. That appears to be the only thing they are really good at doing (plus sucking social services dry in every state in this country).
How many more Border Patrol Agent Deaths must there be before President Obama decides to say "To hell with the open borders crowd, we have to defend our borders!" Does anyone seriously believe he will ever do that? I think I do remember President Obama extending his condolences to the Brian Terry family. But, if he was really remorseful about this Border Patrol Agent's death, he would see to it they don't have to use damn BEANBAGS as a means to defend themselves in the first place!!! This is an outrage. Are we more concerned about people breaking the law than we are the people enforcing our laws? What has happened to this country? How did we get so far off kilter? I hate to say it, but it all started under President Reagan's watch when he agreed to the first amnesty in the 1986 Immigration and Enforcement Act. In that law, President Reagan first agreed to amnesty to anyone in the country before 1982. That, to me, was the biggest mistake he ever made. It set up for more trials and tribulations for this country in the oncoming years. That includes the deaths of over two dozen Border Patrol Agents. President Reagan wasn't alone in contributing to this problem. Presidents Clinton, both Bush Presidents also did their bit also.
President Obama will be right up there with them on the illegal immigration problem if he is successful in pushing "comprehensive immigration reform" down the throats of the American people. He may just grant a full mass pardon for them all if he is defeated in 2012. Don't think that can't happen. But, let's also not leave out another major player in the illegal immigration and Border Patrol Agent deaths; the Mexican government. If the Mexican government was sincere in helping this country with this problem, they would put troops on the border to force illegals back to their homes. Instead, they give the illegals guides (to those that can read) to help them get across the border and what to do if they are caught. The Mexican government is as much, if not more at fault than all the Presidents mentioned. I am not going to put all the blame on the illegals. They see a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow and are running toward it. It's what they do and they do it in the millions upon millions each and every year.
So, it is really a three-pronged reason why our Border Patrol Agents are being attacked, why they are being killed. Combine all three and you have 21 agents killed in the line of duty since the year 2000. Can something be done to stop these attacks on our brave Border Patrol Agents? Of course it can. No illegals, even with AK-47s, are going to want to take on combat equipped and ready U.S. National Guardsmen at the border. Of course, even if this were to happen (which our overlords, the Mexican Government, would never allow), it would be of little consequence to the family of murdered Border Patrol AgentBrian Terry.
