Breaking the Law Obama Style

Good Morning, Breakfastpoppers. Today is Monday, May 18, 2015. Our dear friend, Wasp Tevya, is at the breakfast table this morning. Tevya is feeling nostalgic about a time long ago when the rule of law actually meant something. If the government is leading by example, ordinary law breakers need not fear. Apparently, it is now okay to ignore the law and do your own thing. Tevya is preparing a sumptuous spread of bagels, lox and cream cheese. I will be brewing up some Irish coffees to add to the fun. Please join us for breakfast and a lesson on a couple of ways the Obama administration has broken the law.

Thank you all for coming to the table this morning. I wanted to bring you up to date about the latest stunt the Obama administration is pulling. Twenty-six states have filed an immigration lawsuit against the administration in the Southern District of Texas. The U.S. Justice Department has admitted that the Department of Homeland Security violated federal Judge Andrew Hanen's injunction against Obama's plan and lied to the court when it said that no part of the president's plan was being implemented. It also appears that the Justice Department took their sweet time informing the court about Homeland Security's actions. Homeland Security ignored the judge's injunction and the Justice Department misrepresented the whole fiasco. The Obama administration has made following the law already in place grounds for dismissal. President Obama wants to see his immigration plan enacted and to hell with the law, the states and the people of this nation.

Since anything goes in this administration the Department of Veteran's Affairs has been spending, or should I say wasting, $6 billion a year in direct violation of federal contracting rules. They are using this outrageous amount of money to pay for medical care and supplies. By violating the rules the VA has put our veteran's health in jeopardy. Federal acquisition laws require competitive bidding and proper contracts. They dispensed with the rules and ran the show lawlessly with complete disregard for the law. Can you imagine the vast amount of money wasted by the VA because of their refusal to look for the best price for the services they needed. The VA used "purchase cards" to pay for billions of dollars of medical supplies. The cards were never meant for this purpose, but rather were supposed to be used for minor purchases up to $3000. Instead, supplies were purchased without the required contracts and billions of dollars have been spent and wasted. The VA is operating outside the law and thus far it is getting away with it.

Nothing in this nation is functioning the way it was designed to work. The IRS breaks the law and nobody is held accountable. Employees owe millions, if not billions, in taxes and get promoted. The agency is used like a private army of the Obama administration freely punishing the president's adversaries, and nobody is held accountable. The Rev. Al Sharpton owes millions in back taxes and he is free to move about the universe. He is also free to visit the White House more than Obama, and he gets away with it. Hillary Clinton lied about Benghazi and so far she has gotten away with it. Once upon a time a person with as many red flags as Clinton could never be considered a fit candidate for the presidency. That changed forever quite a long time ago and it explains how Obama became president. It seems we don't care about the rule of law anymore. We don't seem to care about truth or transparency. We accept being lied to as routine. We elect perfect, imperfect strangers to the highest office in the nation and we celebrate at best and yawn at worst.

There is a certain feeling in the air right now. Congress has no teeth, guts or will. President Obama doesn't care what anyone thinks about him, whether it be this nation or others. We aren't to be trusted anymore. Our allies are moving away from us. Our integrity as a nation is damaged. Our government is corrupt. Our taxes are being squandered, our infrastructure is crumbling and our courts and laws are being ignored. If we, as a nation, refuse to take stock and decide this country is worth saving, we will be lost forever. It really is now or never. We need a new president and it can't be Hillary Clinton. We need to get rid of every corrupt and grossly negligent person in every single department in this country. We need to hold people accountable for the mess we are in. The clock is ticking and we can't afford to turn our backs on these problems. Our very existence depends on it.
