Business, Politics, & Love
Chivalry is not dead. However many single people or people who are not in a committed relationship feel that love is over-rated. No Really. Let's think about it. There are so many more factors to consider before and after entering a relationship.
The factors to consider when entering a relationship are Social Media, Gender Preference, Economic Status, and Spirituality. Each of these factors determines if you want to date the person pursuing you.
1) Social Media, for example Facebook or Twitter, gives access to the type of person you may potentially date such as job status, associates, and family. Most of the time, pictures and "Relationship Status" tell it all.
2) Gender Preference, in some cases, can be tricky because a heterosexual individual may be seeking only that. Not someone who likes both men and women. It is okay to state your preference. But it a lot of times it is discovered as the relationship goes on, not publicized.
3) Economic Status means having a job, being in business, or owning a corporation. This can weigh heavily on whether men and women date or not. "Dating on the same level" financially can alleviate the stress of knowing if a date, travel, or building a partnership for life with a potential mate is possible.
4) Spirituality has a meaning of its own, but comparable to economical status. An individual who is Christian, Muslim, Catholics, or a member of Scientology may want to date within their religion. Religious or spiritual grounding provides insight on whether an individual has core values or not. Who would have thought that love would be so political? Then again, Romeo and Juliet dealt with the politics of love.
“Two households, both alike in dignity
In fair Verona, where we lay our scene
From ancient grudge break to new mutiny
Where civil blood makes civil hands unclean.
From forth the fatal loins of these two foes
A pair of star-cross'd lovers take their life
Whose misadventured piteous overthrows
Do with their death bury their parents' strife.”
― William Shakespeare, Romeo and Juliet
If the relationship makes it through these four factors, love is inevitable.
Remember, times have changed. There was a time when the most important thing that connects you to a person you were interested in dating was where you lived or if you had the same horoscope sign. Today, with online dating websites, Social Media, Skype, and political agendas, relationships are interchangeable. Interchangeable meaning, it is not uncommon to see public figures or celebrities date, marry, divorce, and remarry within a one-to-two year period.
Don't get me wrong. Love exists. It just may exists in today's court of "Social Law". It is important to remember what you want in a relationship and do not settle for what is not relevant to you. Once you define you and your core values, you will attract what you want in a relationship, love.
