Southeast Bexar County Awareness: Commissioner Rodriguez in Action
A visibly angry County Commissioner, Sergio "Chico" Rodriguez let his anger get the best of him when he lashed out with unnecessary comments to the Southside ISD Superintendent, Dr. Juan Jasso and possibly violated the Texas Open Meetings Act. At best Commissioner Rodriguez let the community know live via internet just how the commissioners work.
Setting, a meeting at the commissioner court, room full of tax payers having their voices heard in open court and via satellite tv.
Mr. Inmon with AtaBexar VFD approached the podium and asked for permission to give the commissioners a copy of something that he'd brought to show background on Mr. Hearn, in hopes of having the commissioners at least table the motion or possibly looking for another candidate all together.
Judge Wolff in disappointment to the South Bexar County Community did not take the lead and create a discussion, instead allowed Commissioner Rodriguez to act out in an undignified manor.
The same manor his brother Ciro Rodriguez behaved when questioned by a taxpayer in his much publicized video.
Commissioner Rodriguez Calls it a Formailty
As Dr. Juan Jasso, Superintendent of Southside ISD mentioned the hardship on the district of the expense of the lawsuit during these economic times, he also stated that it was necessary because the community and 5200 students are at risk. He continued speaking to the Commissioner's Court and pleading for them to table this item until March 1, 2011, when the School District and the ESD#6 are due back in court, the Commissioner, visibly angered, commented that, it would be something he would have to explain to "his" (the Superintendents) constituents and that he would be sure to pass along the information to the judge overseeing the case.
At this point, Commissioner Rodriguez, leaned forward and continued to talk in a less than professional manor to Dr. Juan Jasso and explained to him that Joe Hearn's appointment was "just a formality", because Mr. Hearn had already been approved two agenda's ago.
While it was been proven that ESD#6 Board President Sylvia Ruiz Mendelsohn (campaign manager for Sergio "Chico" Rodriguez) is known for putting the cart before the horse, it quickly showed that Commissioner Rodriguez was also applying the same principles.
According to the agenda's the Commissioner spoke of, It is easy to see that two agenda's ago, there was never any mention of Joe Hearn, unless of course, this was a back room deal, in which case, then the County Commissioner would be correct.
While the South East Bexar County Community was discouraged by the blatant disregard of facts by the County Commissioner's; it has forced them to realign and push forward in a positive manor. Always remembering that cool heads prevail.
