Cowards On Our Shores

Updated on September 3, 2015

By: Wayne Brown

Today, 9/11/2010, I took my American Flag to the front of my house and posted it to hang out over my front yard for the day in observance of those who died on that tragic day nine years ago. I then strolled into the front yard and picked up the morning paper. I opened it up and scanned it as I walked back into the house. There was no mention of 9/11. None! This liberal rag they call a newspaper here did not see fit to observe the day in any way. I can only think that the newspaper took this action so as not to offend anyone who might agree with the actions of the terrorists on that fateful day. What a gutless excuse for a newspaper. No wonder most of them are having trouble surviving in today’s world.

The newspapers and the media are not alone in searching for ways to soften the story which took place on 9/11. They have continually offered up potential excuses as to how America may have brought the attack upon itself by actions that were perceived as arrogant in the terrorist world. 2,977 innocent people lost their lives on 9/11. When they woke up that morning and headed for work, they had no plan to not come home. It was just another day, another great day to be alive and living in America. In a matter of seconds, minutes, and hours, their lives were snuffed out one by one by 19 cowardly bags of scum who did not deserve to share the earth with any of those people. How dare anyone make excuses for what these cowards did to our fellow Americans or any of the other peace-loving people who happen to be present at that fateful time. There is no basis for it and no case can be made.

Those who would perpetrate this crime make claims of their religious affiliation. Their dedication to Allah. Their desire to bring down the infidel nation that is America. They call themselves al Qaeda but in reality they are nothing but a bunch of cowardly bastards who hide in caves or use women, children or places of worship to shield themselves from the retaliation they so deserve. The nineteen animals who carried out this crime were cowards, stupid cowards, really stupid cowards to believe that what they were doing was anything that approached ‘righteous’ in any sense of the word. They were insanely stupid to follow the suggestions of those who called themselves ‘leaders’ but are only cowards themselves. In fact, worst cowards. At least the ones who carried it out had the guts to kill themselves. That is less than I can say for their cowardly leaders who hid in caves and awaited the celebration of their success.

America has always been a freedom loving, peace loving country. With that desire, America has also enjoyed a broad liberty to go about life in pursuit of happiness. We have welcome others to our country with open arms who expressed the same desires. Americans have distributed money and aid around the globe freely to others not as fortunate as ourselves. America is always there in times of strife and tragedy at any spot in the world that needs and is willing to accept our help. The examples of America’s generosity and kindness far out number any acts of aggression this country has shown to the world.

These animals took advantage of our liberty as Americans and came to this country bent on committing an act of terrorism that would symbolize their ability to reign over America’s might on our own shores. They were successful in carrying out that plot mainly due to the relaxed nature of the American lifestyle. The citizens of this country did not believe anyone could be so stupid as to attack America in its own house. We paid a price for that mindset and 2977 innocent people paid the ultimate price with their lives. In those moments and hours afterward, as a public we mourned; we cried; we prayed and asked God in so many ways how he could let this happen. As the days and weeks passed, we cleaned up, wiped our tears, and buried our dead. And then we got mad. As a country, we vowed that an act such as that would never happen again upon the grounds of this land. Nine years later, I pray that we still have that resolve.

After carrying out Japan’s attack on Pearl Harbor, Japanese Admiral, Isoroku Yamamoto remarked, “I fear that all we have done is to awaken a sleeping giant and fill him with terrible resolve.” Much the same can be said for the attacks of 9/11 upon America. Yes, our citizens died; yes buildings were destroyed; yes, people felt a sense of terror for a time. But, those who would carry out such a hideous act must know by now that it did not paralyze America by any means. The act did nothing to make the people of America want to appease such a fanatical group of animals by bowing to their demands. It did noting in that regard. No one comes to our house and carries out such an act and lives very long to celebrate the fact. Our resolve to find every person involved with that attack will not waiver. We will hunt you to the ends of the earth and when we find you, don’t be surprised if we crawl into your cave while you are sleeping and silently slit your throat. The last sound you hear will be your own gurgling words praying to Allah to be released from death. Even that death will be too good for the likes of cowardly animals like you.

Today, we must remember that we do have brave men and women working throughout the world to carry out our resolve for those attacks . These men and women risk their lives on a regular basis to gain information or carry out orders to balance the scales of justice in our fight against terrorism in the world. This is not just our fight as Americans for every peace loving soul in this world has a stake in it if they are to be shielded from the acts of terror that these cowards will bring upon the world. If they are not opposed, they are emboldened. They only understand strength and they feed on weakness. America, nor any other country of this world, must never show a weakening or lack or desire in defeating these cowards and removing every last trace of their existence from this earth. God Bless Us All.

..I'm just kinda partial to Wayne Brown's writing - period!!!

He is not only a great American - (and neighbor to this Canadian) - he is not only just a great Texan - he is just a great human being and a gift to all of us who admire his will and free speech!

@WhidbeyWriter...I know exactly what you mean. I have had family visiting on vacation and things piling up at work. It does not leave me much time to read or write of late. Glad to see you here though! 9/11 really churns my American blood...nothing makes me as angry and nothing makes me feel as patriotic. This country has a heart and soul beyond the scope of anything these folks can imagine. They really do not want what we can give them if we take the gloves off. Our problem is one of leadership not capability. WB

@saddlerider1....Glad to clear the link Ken and so glad to have support from our good neighbors in Canada! WB

I agree with Harvey Stelman and post a link here about this very thing, a must see, unless you want to not accept this link Wayne. I leave it up to you my friend to decide.

I am very concerned and I feel that America and my country Canada need to take a very serious look at Islam and the whole package. What are they really preaching?

Yes there are good people in all religions, but the bottom line here, are they really wanting to wipe us out?

I have been so behind lately and completely missed this one until today. Very powerful Wayne and so very true. This country had better wake up and smell the double standards regarding this religion. I read an article about the Danish and how they embraced the Muslims and were such a liberal country for a while until now. They are finding out that the Muslims are taking over and they are tired of it. Now they have set in place strict laws that if you are a Muslim and come to their country you have to learn the language, follow the rules of their country or get out. America needs to do that as well if they don't like our ways then go back where you came from. This really touched my heart and I want to thank you for honoring those who died on that day with this hub....well done! Blessings

These have to be wiped out! H

Wayne, the goal of terrorists is to spread terror. Al-Queda knows they cannot actually defeat such a large and powerful country like the US. Their goal is to spread fear among our people and affect our lives negatively.

My own personal experience regarding 9-11 is one where I was determined not to let them influence my life. I was planning to move to NYC in approx 6 months and suddenly we have the tragic attack known as 9-11. Determined to not let terrorists determine my life, I went ahead with my plans and moved to NYC against the wishes of family and friends. For many years, I worked downtown only a few blocks from the WTC site.

I was impressed by people in the city. I met people who worked in the towers and still work downtown. They have strong resolve and refuse to let terrorists dictate their lives.

@sunflowerbucky...BTW,Happy Anniversary...wish I could have been there and I was honored to be invited! I hope you have many more. Yes, we don't want to upset the Americans because they might start thinking about all they have worked for and earned, saved, and invested in this country. Then, they might not want to migrate over to other forms of socialism. It's best that we all just stay calm and see how this comes out. One of the greatest disappointments our Founding Fathers would suffer would be to return today and see the state of the media in America. A free press was supposed to be our savior, our true voice, the voice of reason, the voice of hope, the voice of objectivity. Now look at what we have. We have a media that for the most cow-tows to government officials right and left hoping to gain favor and praying to serve as their butt-boy to deliver the message to America. Those in the media that do take the hard line and report the facts are label as mongers, haters, and worse. I am absolutely amazed how many people in America want to believe in everything but a democratic republic based on life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. They are much happier trying to protect a fool from himself and thinking they are going to accomplish something in the process. On the other hand, there are far more sinister forces at work of which we must be ever vigilant lest they will take away all that we know as America. Let's let that be our little secret! WB

Wow, the fact that someone said we shouldn't make a big deal about 9/11 makes me want to vomit. We need to be making a bigger deal out of it. Doesn't anyone wonder why our government wants so badly for us to put it in the past? Food for thought. Great hub as always, Wayne.

@Joni Douglas...there's no end to the things that are going on in our local community that are about everything but America. I am sorry but this is our country, our culture, our way of life. If one wants to be here and practice their own culture, that is more than fine but don't expect America to change its culture for you. I cannot imagine where we have evolved the idea to throw away the most successful way of life in the world and embrace everything else...sinister things are at work in America. Thanks for the read and the good comments, Joni! WB

      Hello Wayne,

I too checked my paper on Saturday. Not a word was spoken, the church bells (although not broken) were silent in my little town. Television coverage of remembrances were nicely done but you are right, it is no wonder that the papers are all failing.

@poetvix...Thank you for the read and the good comments. This is what we have become. As one reader put it on my hub "American Appeasement", 'I am just another person using inflammatory words when what I really meant to say was not appeasement but niceness'....wrong, there is a lot of difference in the two words and I know what I meant otherwise, I would not write it! WB

@CornerStone51...So this is where we have come. We have taken this many centuries to now live our life in fear of upsetting Islam. Pleazzze! I have another suggestion. I suggest that Islam get its mind right and start living in fear of Christianity. I have nothing against the Islamic faith...I seldom think about it. I have no need for Allah...I have God and Jesus Christ. Maybe Islam needs to look outside their own house. In the meantime, we must suffer the likes of another "enlightened soul", Alan Colmbes. Sometimes, I think these people just take the other side thinking that they appear intelligent to the rest of us. God help us all! WB

Great hub Wayne. My husband told me this morning that Alan Colmbes of Hannity and Colmbes fame, said that we need to stop making such a big deal out of 9/11. He said it is not good for our relationship with Islam!!! Why is it that Islam can burn our flag, yell Death to America and committ acts of terror against us, yet if we do one little thing they are down on us immediately. I am tired of the double standard and tired of these tolerance worshipping cowardly liberals!

Thanks for the hub. God bless.

Wayne, I agree it is too sad and shameful that our media is downplaying the atrocities of that day in a misguided effort to avoid offending anyone. Some people should be offended. Loyal Americans should be offended that our leaders and media have become so politically correct as to be basically stupid and ineffective.

A terrible attack is a terrible attack. To down play or ignore it all together insults the memory of all who lost lives, family, friends and fellow American's on that day. In my mind, if we ever forget we are doomed to repeat. Is not one of the main reasons for studying history so that we may learn and not repeat over and over the mistakes of the past?

Thanks Wayne for another hard hitting Hub.

@MartieCoetser....I think the message that they were attempting to send is that we will destroy financial starting with the towers that represent those finances to the world. In the end, I don't know that people were their target but the crime is they did not mind destroying innocent people just to send the message. On the one hand they have an understanding of America's power in the world and how it comes about. On the other, they are extremely ignorant of the resilence, fortitude, and all out drive of the American public when you make us mad. Given the right leadership, we will perserver. Thanks for the good comments Martie. WB

@sheila b...believe me Sheila, the thought to cancel it has crossed my mind many times. My wife is the obstacle. She is really the only one who reads it mainly for the obits! and she likes the coupons and sale papers. Thus, love restrains my desires! LOL! You are quite correct about our messages. The paper did show up to day with a national review the memorials that went on yesterday. I guess they do not have enough orginality on staff to create any of their own...but wait that would be creating the news instead of reporting it! We don't need that! Thanks for the good words! WB

Why not cancel the paper, first of all? You can probably read it on line. You could also print out this article and send it as a letter to the editor. We have to be as active at home in these matters as we are with the national politicians. Right now too many in power are trying to make US cowards, afraid of muslims anger.

I will never forget this day. We were all stunned, watching the horror on TV. My heart went out to America and all those innocent victims and their families. This was (according to me) one of the most irrational, wrong, rude, inhuman, barbaric, crazy, totally unacceptable acts of vengeance in the history of man. My condolences to all in mourning.

@saddlerider1...Ken, I think everyone in America knows that the people of Canada suffered the losses on 9/11 as much as anyone. Canada is a great neighbor and always there to provide support. As a country we must be strong and fight off any future possibilities. We must remain vigilant. We are dealt with worst in the past and we will handle these guys as well. We just need a little time. I cannot get the line out of my head from the movie "The Movie Breaks" starring Jack Nicholson and Marlon Brando. The scene in which Nicholson's character crawls into Brando's camp and slits his Brando awakes...Nicholson whispers in his ear.."that sound you hear was me cutting your throat". That is the way I would love to see each and every one who had a hand in planning 9/11 die. Thanks for the good comments! WB

Wayne I stand with you brother even though I am not from your country, but as a Canadian I still felt the pain that terrible day and wept like a child for the tragic loss of innocent lives that terrible day in your history.

I have not moved from our 51" t.v today. Watching the Geography channel with the tragedy that befell your nation that day. They have been playing documentary's all day long and I am so angry at how the fanatical Muslims took control of air space and innocent civilians to destroy life and the buildings.

The fanatics have cels throughout your country and are slowly but with certainty building up momentum to destroy within and they are gaining more muslim radicals who want to destroy the American way of life and take over your country.

As long as you have a president who is also a Muslim in power, they will continue to gain ground, if nothing is done to destroy them, they will take over not only your country but ours as we are also being infiltrated by radicals.

Democracy won't work for these people, they want control and the only way to cease their spreading is to abolish Islmanic teachings and mosques in our countries and herd them all together and send them back to their countries banning any Muslim from residing in America.

America needs to take a stand like Australia has done and their Prime Minister will not allow any outside influence come in and dictate to them what they believe in and or change the Aussies into bending to their will.

If a strong stand is not taken very soon, America stands to fall and be treated as Infidels and destroyed. Not only do you have a serious illegal alien problem with Mexicans but you have one as well with Muslims. I pray that the American people will wake up before it's to late. Peace by brother in arms.

Wayne I will always remember. And I am so sick of the liberal media trying to downplay one of the darkest days in American History. And I am also sick of all the liberals who call themselves Americans while constantly apologizing and trash talking their country at the same time. And then they call guys like you and me haters because we think that it is inappropriate to put a mosque at the site of a mass murder. Thanks for the tribute. that's a shame Wayne. 9-1-1 was right on the front page of my newspaper with a huge color photo of the lights shining in the sky where the twin towers used to be.

out here we have exhibits commemorating the attack, including one at the scottsdale center for the arts where they have individual plaques displaying the names of everyone who perished.

      thank you for this hub.
