Chris Christie is Guilty About Bridgegate Scandal
It's not over until the fat man sings. That is an old saying but it does seem to apply to the current Chris Christie bridgegate scandal in New Jersey. If you have been out of the loop, the concise story is that those people in the number two spot under Governor Christie ordered massive traffic problems in Fort Lee, New Jersey, last fall as an act of political retribution against the city's Democratic mayor. This was done by closing a key commuter bridge (think Golden Gate) for not a few hours, but four days under the disguise of a traffic study. This caused horrendous traffic backup and other problems for thousands who use the bridge daily.
At first, Christie claimed he thought the snarl was minor and made light of it, but when more and more people looked into the fraud of it being a traffic study and emails showed there was a deliberate conspiracy within the Christie top levels, those who immediately under Chris Christie, who ordered the bridge closed. Christie claims he knew nothing about it until recently, this is so hard to believe because by day two of the closure, even state legislatures had emailed and sent letters to Christie asking what is going on and reporting it. Mounting evidence is that Christie did not want to know what was going on until it was unavoidable to face.
It is hard to believe that he had no clue, completely in the dark about the bridge closure. Emails strongly suggest that members of Christie's inner circle planned the lane closures as political retaliation against Sokolich, thinking this is what Christie would want because he plays hardball politics. These emails contradict repeated statements by Christie that neither his staff nor anyone from his campaign was involved with the lane closures.
The most damaging is, "Time for some traffic problems in Fort Lee," Bridget Anne Kelly, a top Christie aide, wrote in an email to Wildstein. "Got it," Wildstein replied. Numerous messages mock Fort Lee's mayor as he scrambled to learn the reason behind the closures from the Port Authority.
The traffic jam did cause real harm, it slowed down paramedics as they tried to reach an unconscious 91-year-old woman. The woman later died in the hospital. It took paramedics seven to nine minutes—double the normal time—to reach a car accident. However, the great Christie lie, that being he knew nothing about the bridge closure on Sept 11, now has photographic evidence with him and his close aide, Wilderstein, who is asking for immunity or he will take the 5th, at the bridge.
This started as an inquiry into the Port Authority, and now the trail leads directly into the governor’s office. Both the state of new Jersey and Federal agencies are looking into this unbelievable political act of retribution.
