Clarifying: Tagging, Labeling, Categorizing

Updated on April 4, 2015

When we clarify what we did, said, or thought; what we are doing, saying or thinking; as well as, what we will do, think, say is like this unknown author quoted:

"Analysis and synthesis ordinarily clarify matters for us about as much as taking a Swiss watch apart and dumping its wheels, springs, hands, threads, pivots, screws and gears into a layman's hands for reassembling, clarifies a watch to a layman."

When we clarify what we want is to:

  • purge the corrupted
  • disinfect the infected
  • elutriate the impure

Stay with me through these terms, while I try to lead you to the real message.

They are first of all a system of organization. An instrument in the form of one or more words used to:

  • classify
  • organize
  • group content

We tag words

Marketing departments in companies are in constant search of promotional items that will attract the attention of their prospects.

Labels are used on:

  • cars
  • bottles
  • clothes

We label animals

Category is a specifically defined division in a system of classification for example within:

  • quality
  • quantity
  • relation

We categorize terms, things or ideas

Examples of Tags, Labels and Categories

Discriminatory adjectives
Discriminatory adjectives

Adjectives are words that modify a noun or a pronoun. They usually precede the noun or pronoun being modified indicating:

  • qualities
  • traits
  • properties

  • This boy is tall. (positive)
  • That boy is taller. (comparative)
  • The last boy in the row is the tallest. (superlative)

Discrimination is to separate, distinguish, differentiate one thing from another. It is also to give inferior treatment to a person or group on:

  • racial
  • religious
  • political
  • philosophy
  • life style
  • physical appearance
  • etc.

Our six senses help us to discriminate, but when we add a negative drop into it, it makes the discrimination unpleasant, unmoral, unhealthy, and unloving.

We discriminate when we tag, label, categorize humans

Effects of discrimination

We live in modern times when history has given us sufficient experiences toward what human nature is about. We all know that individuals have their own choices. We all know that the choices that individuals choose will make them pair with others with similar choices. We all know that consequentially, the pair will become a group. We all know that the group will try to gain some kind of way to spread their choices.

Not everyone wants the choices of others...and we all know that. There are various ways to stop those that force their choices and many of them will use the term "discrimination" of the effect.

When we tag, label, or categorize individuals we are discriminating. When does discrimination becomes "wrong or illegal"? When we fall into the use of harassment or racism.

  • Harassment occurs when a person has a behavior that affects the dignity of a person and to that person that creates an intimidating, hostile, degrading, humiliating or offensive feeling. The form of harassment can take different forms: from no assignments to the allocation of meaningless activities or below their abilities, verbal, sexual, etc....
  • Racism takes different forms in different countries depending on the history, culture or other social factors, but as a common link often leads to discrimination, social segregation, rejection of the culture and values of others, openly practicing harassment or violence against the victim or collective, showing slavery, apartheid or ethnic cleansing is its most criminal expression like the "Holocaust".

Jesus was crucified, He was than called Jesus Christ

Humans rights

Today we see that if someone takes a moral stance this person is called Christian and are reminded of the separation of church and state. Is it that a Christian as a citizen cannot contribute to speak out for what they believe?

It is not that Christians want to impose their faith, but as voters want to expose opinions and rights to vote with the same right that any other human practices.

Isn't it also discriminatory to have a bag tagged, labeled and categorized with "religious Christian"?

A Christian has the Bible as the Word of God. The Bible is the map to follow the road to eternal life. A Christian will quote the words in the Bible. If they are called "Biblicists" for this, my response for this is "oh, well".

Be happy

Be happy and get over it.

Everybody will be discriminated against in one way or another as everyone will discriminate in one way or the other. We are living affected and bombed by many ideas. We all need to learn and love each other a little bit more each day, until finally we can be able to embrace what real love is about, when finally we stop tagging, labeling, categorizing ourselves in a hurting, discriminatory way.

If you are being tagged, labeled, or categorized; don't let this harm you in any manner, just try to know who you are. The value you give to yourself nobody can change, so tag, label and categorize as the best of the best...never beneath others and never higher either.

Blessings to all!
