DOES WANTING IMMIGRATION TO BE CURTAILED MAKE ME A RACIST?
TOO MANY ALWAYS SPOILS THE BROTH
I do not regard myself as a Racist but it seems that if the outpourings of our Politicians in the UK are to be believed, then I may soon be regarded as one. As a teenager, I recall the forecast of "Rivers of Blood" flowing in our streets if we did not address the numbers coming from abroad to seek a new life here.
BACK THEN, IN THE 50 "S AND 60"S OUR IMMIGRANTS CAME MAINLY FROM AFRO- CARRIBEAN SHORES. NOW IN 2012, WE HAVE IMMIGRANTS FROM MANY COUNTRIES, BRINGING WITH THEM DIFFERENT CULTURES, STANDARDS AND ATTITUDES ACROOS THE NATION.
In the early years of this Century, I was a Consultant to quite a few local authorities in the Communications field. As such I became absolutely fed up of hearing the word DIVERSITY, and the need to embrace it ,flowing from the lips of Political Leaders and Officers. It seemed to me as if a veritable storm of brainwashing had deluged all political nooks and crannies, without any thought as to the ultimate consequences for the nation, the native population and the very immigrants entering the Country legally or for that matter, illegally. It was a "Look at the King and his wonderful clothes " type of situation. Meanwhile in the pubs and clubs, neighbourhoods and districts, the ordinary people were viewing the escalating immigrant situation with growing concern.
Over the past decade the population of UK has risen by 3.7 million. A Primary school kid can work out where we will be in another 30 to 50 years if that continues. That will put those kids at between 30 and 60 years of age then and heavens knows what their lives will be like, regardless of individual race, colour or creed. Clearly, the current rate of both population growth and immigration is unsustainable. Too many cooks spoil the broth and too many people in too tight a space will spoil everything that makes Society worthwhile. As a youngster, I learned the lesson of overcrowding dramatically from our herd of pigs. 4 pigs lived happily in the sty space we had but when a fifth was introduced they attacked each other with a vengeance. My father built another sty, fenced off the outside areas and harmony was restored in almost the twinkling of an eye. The pig , like humans is a gregarious animal, and humans like pigs need spce to function harmoniuosly. Our past and present load of Politicians seem unable to grasp this, or choose not to want to do so.
POLITICIANS MUST REPRESENT SOCIETY.
That our Society is at the crossroads to say the least ,was clearly stated by, of all people, LORD CAREY, a former Archbishop of Canterbury. I say of all people, to underline that no one in their right mind would describe him as being racist. He, as a member of a cross party political group called, Balanced Migration Group, acknowledges that "there comes a point when we have to reconsider policy and find ways of limiting immigration which is disturbing our way of life" He is absolutely correct to so state, for without a change in policy, those who stand to suffer most are the immigrants themselves.
Already in this nation, extremist groups, once furtive and skulking in dark alleys and corners, are to be seen more publicly and openly promoting violence and hatred wherever possible. That the majority of these people are restricted to say the least in brain cells matters not. Hitler never queried the IQ levels of his followers and we all know where that lead Germany. Could it happen in UK. I fear the answer to be a definite "YES".
WE ARE FAST REACHING THE POINT WHERE UK MAY BE FORCED TO SHUT THE DOORS ON ALL IMMIGRATION. i WOULD HOPE NEVER TO SEE THAT, FOR I AM FAR FROM BEING A RACIST, BUT UNLESS AND UNTILL OUR POLITICAL LEADERSHIP GRASPS THE NETTLE AND PUTS ADEQUATE CONTROLS IN PLACE WE RUN THE RISK OF A RISING RESENTMENT FANNED BY THOSE WHO FOLLOW THE FAR RIGHT AND WHO WISH TO SEE ONLY ,FOR EXAMPLE, "BRITAIN FOR THE BRITISH"
We must reject such extremists but to do so requires some tough decisions to be made with little or no further delay. We need to encourage understanding and integration of all, whilst continuing to forge international links. We also need to avoid the spread of ghettos of immigrants living in crowded conditions and ensure that those entering understand what this country seeks from them, in return for what they seek from residency here. At the forefront of our thinking must always be the finite limits on the numbers we can absorb without damaging the very fabric of the society they have travelled so far to become part of. We have to understand that if the UK is not yet FULL , it it is not far from being so, and that we shall judge our politicians on the way they deal with these admittedly difficult matters. Sad to say, watching them all at their recent Conferences, there seems to be no real leader anywhere to be found. Let us hope that one may yet emerge from the current group of cross party self servers. One can hop[e, but with not much conviction I fear.
