Why Filipinos Hate Duterte

Updated on June 18, 2018

The latest news is that the Mayor has decided to run for presidency just this week(Nov 23). But, there is a problem. Was it too late for him?

The Mayor Rodrigo Duterte

Everybody's calling his name today

His name is all over the newspaper, he is the word of mouth of everybody. Mayor Duterte has become more famous today when he started to travel all over the Philippines to talk about Federalism. His intention to change the constitution and to have a clean government has brought new hope for Filipinos longing for a better governance but gave a big confusion to everyone. People thought he would be running for Presidency this 2016 election. They said that Duterte is very qualified. I can't wait for the Mayor's declaration.

The Punisher

In 2002, the Time Magazine called Mayor Duterte as "The Punisher". He is a lawyer, obviously he knows more about politics and he has more interest with the society because he is a politian. But what he is most concerned about are the people's safety. He punishes criminals and beware, he hates offender that are "in" and "out" of the cell.

A man of Discipline

Davao City is a large city to manage, but this man was able to overcome big challenges and helped the city improve, progress and kept the city safe.

Digong is a man of confidence and discipline. He is a good influence. He is a man of hope

His Accomplishments

  1. The 911
  2. The Liquor Ban -
  3. Speed Limit for all vehicles

As pushed by the Mayor, the City Council amended the ordinance no. 1627, Series of 1994, which prohibits, selling, serving, drinking and consumption of liquors and alcoholic beverages from 1:00am until 8:00am.

Davao, the safest city in the world

They call it the "The Land of Promise", and the most livable city in the Philippines and in the whole world, in fact it has ranked as the 4th safest City in the World according to crime index.

This is true. I've lived in the city for almost 10 years, I have seen its progress. I have seen how people obey rules and respect the Mayor. I have seen how these drug pushers and users surrender to him. I remember the sunday tv program which addressing davaoenos concerns. Each letters from citizens were being read and being addressed. I remember his warnings to those offenders.

The 911 is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, it's one of the Mayor;s greatest project that has been servicing the Dabaenos in case of emergencies. It connects to fire department, hospitals and police stations. I was happy when this was launched. I was amazed when I saw this video of the Mayor showing how he was more glad when 911 has finally able to start its operation. Setting up a 911 number in the Philippines was'nt that easy as he stated in one of his interviews.

Patrol cars were visible at night and stationed near areas where crime could be possibly done like call centers and restaurants.CCTV's were installed in each Barangays too.

Rescued Yolanda Victims

Remember the Yolanda Typhoon that killed thousands of people and destroyed almost all establishments, one group that rescued were from Davao City, the 911 group. A doctor's testimonies spread all over the internet talking about how they were instructed by the Mayor. This is not surprising because they are not that far from the Mayor's heart.

Federalism Government

Federalism is the kind of government that he was trying to push.

Wikipedia define Federalism below:

"Federalism is a political concept in which a group of members are bound together by covenant (Latin: foedus, covenant) with a governing representative head. The term "federalism" is also used to describe a system of government in which sovereignty is constitutionally divided between a central governing authority and constituent political units (such as states or provinces). Federalism is a system based upon democratic rules and institutions in which the power to govern is shared between national and provincial/state governments, creating what is often called a federation. The term federalist describes several political beliefs around the world. Also, it may refer to the concept of parties; its members or supporters called themselves Federalists."

I advocate pro-life. The RH bill advocates laws that are pro-abortion in nature.

He was sorry for cursing the pope but I think he wasn't mad of him. It's the traffic. Why are you not in favor of rh Bill?

That he criticized the Pope and the Catholic Church. That he favors the RH bill.

Thank you HSchneider for dropping by. The mayor believes in destiny. Who knows, he might be declaring his presidency next month. I hope so. For we are also desiring to have a transparent and non corrupt gov,he might be the one, a leader who's willing to risk and not afraid...of changing the gov.

Very interesting Hub, Judalyn. Mayor Duterte has done a marvelous job with the accomplishments you have outlined. It sounds like he would be an ideal president for the Phillipines.
