Donald Sterling the Clippers, the NBA and Racism all in one.

Updated on April 29, 2014

Not going to prmote the NBA here it just seems wrong at this time.

Love basketball but not the way it is now in the pro's.

What do racism, Donald Sterling and gangsters all have in common? The NBA. How nice that the NBA has brought all of these fine folks into one huge Racism, violence and gang promoting folks into single arenas to make big money.

Sorry but the trash talk and all the hyperbole about race and all the glitz and the way that so often they seem like to high priced gangs running back and forth is bothersome. I get rappers and like several even though it is not my favorite Genre but why do the players act like rappers. It seems they grab on to every violent fad that runs along after a song or movie.

The most talented well paid men in the world and they act all gangster. I do not get it, seems like gangsters should want to act like them. Did you know that some gangs are based on race. For sure prison ones and many inner city ones. A little less in the rural.

If this seems tough on the NBA well it is meant to be. They just had a big spat over the use of the word "nigger" something about how African Americans can use it by not Caucasians or Hispanics. Why not just ban it. It is gut gutter language no matter who uses it. You cannot drop an "F" bomb or face ejection and fines, but the mindset is so base that they fight to use the word but ban other races from using it? What is going on, this is lunacy.

So Donald Sterling is a bigoted racist. That is not news. He was born in 1934. Come on people. 50% of all white people were bigots and racists back then. 14 years later the army was still segregated. "Back of the bus" was the norm not the exception. You have at least 50/50 odds the guy is still a bigot. And plus isn't he Polish or something. He knew bigotry against his own family by whites of 3rd generation descent. Come on you just cannot hold him to our standards. It is almost age discrimination ;-)

But it seems like the guy is just nuts. It does not seem like he hates black people he just thinks they are inferior. Well most of us think children are inferior and most of us treat octogenarians like they are all feeble like Sterling.

This is a stickier wicket than meets the eye.

Roses are not bigoted, this one is a cross-breed.

It is a Mexican Rojo with a Dafodil Yellow. I think Sterling's girlfriend is half and half like my son.

Big money pullout, now that is how it is done.

Sponsors for Donald Sterling's Clippers dropped like flies over the last few days. How fun is that? You just got to love free enterprise. Slap and Slap and Slap. They are housed at the Staples Center. But they are in the playoffs and Staples Center can't just give them the boot. The NBA just banned the man for life from participation in the NBA league altogether. But yet certain players can still call each of the "N" word. What a strange league altogether.

If Southern California it is hip to be in rehabilitation for something. They have these spa type places. And if you have money they are really super duper nice, like a five star hotel/resort. I find it hard to believe they do not have a twelve step program for racists. Let us face it, it is an illness of societal proportions. I would rather be a drug addict than a racist any day of the week. But I have to face facts. There are both out there but we now recognize addiction to drugs as an illness, and still lock you up in prison if busted. Should we lock racists up also just for being racists. Probably not a good idea. But it makes one think about it.

I just cannot stand these two singing together how disgusting to see mixed duets like this. What is Stevie doing singing with an Englishman? ;-) Doesn't he rem

We must apologize?

We around here in my house are quite sanctimonious and bias. We are bigoted against certain people. We are prejudice against certain continuing conduct. Our values are good and we think everyone should adhere to them. Mistakes can be made and repented but on some they must not be repeated ever if ever even committed. My wife and children and I hate a group of people and that is just the way it is. (I hope they do not take away my adsense sponsorship ;-).

We hate blatant adulterers. Can't stand them, won't let anyone in my family take instagrams of them. We condemn them and mock them and pull our patronage from them. If one tries to date my daughter he is toast. And he is going to get an old fashioned ass whooping.

We think Sterling should have been banned for that wrongful conduct long before a private comment about an illness he has.

It is a beautiful thing to see the NBA step up and kick this rich guy's butt. Good for them, but I pray they do not stop there and get to work to clean up the entire league.

We need to recognize the slavery of greed.

Sorry but the truth is coming out all over the place.

Good upstanding young African American men sold their souls and played for obscene profit for a known bigot and extremely prejudice racist. So is it OK to do that? I have real problems with that issue. This is not 1950 and that is the only job the African American ballplayers can get. It is not a moral question to feed their family of the good of the nation or "for others".

The league should ban every sponsor that knew about this and every player that knew about this problem and made a profit off of it. Apparently my household is one of the few outside of Amish country that did not know about this guy. Wow.

Would I go to work for a racist? That is what you have to ask yourself. And if the answer is yes then you are guilty of aiding and abetting and an accessory to those crimes against mankind. Think about it. Every player on that team knew about this guy, but they helped make him money.

Economic Slavery? No it is not. It is pure greed and ego. It is disgusting. Here are the top five guys supporting Sterling in this endeavor -- endorsing for sure by their action, anything for money and fame!

DeAndre Jordan 10,986,550

Chris Paul $18,668,431

Blake Griffin $16,441,500

Jamal Crawford $5,225,000

J.J. Redick Duke $6,500,000

These guys all went to top notch schools and are not dummies. They should be ashamed and apologize greatly and make some cash amends to stop the conduct they so fully supported for profit. The NBA should fine them also.

Some day this caped avenger is going to get pay back!

Somebody has to clean up that league

Let us wrap this bad boy right back around.

If you watched the Clippers on TV and knew about this guy -- you are guilty as charged. You supported him and those making him money. Sterling is a cancer that needs to hurry up and die before in infects others. But it is too late for that. The question is how much cancer remains to be cut out to save the body. This writer is not satisfied with just Sterling. How about the GM and the coach. Surely they knew.

And I hope that mistress gets enough from this story to check herself into rehab. She needs it as much as Sterling.

wrenchBiscuit, thank you for dropping by and leaving a note. You summed it up quite nicely. For sure for sure, give me a Guatemalan any day!

      Nice Hub Eric!

I agree, what's the big deal about Sterling? What a lot of people miss is that it was a "private" conversation. He didn't get on a bull horn and scream it to the world. He was set up. I hate racists. I would like to replace them all with Guatemalans, but I like this kind of B.S. even less.

Little snippets of your "ideas" do not tell us enough. Write a long 1400 word hub on it.

I heard about the book. He went to a dermatologist or something. Everywhere I look turns up empty. People play dumb.

How do you feel about my ideas? Do you think there is any chance the white community will see the light and realize they need white men to go undercover as black men? I am a god fearing man and I want to honor god with this movement. If I get mad with black people it is easy to want to use it against them. Black skin would make the white man stronger. Anything that makes a man stronger makes his enemies weaker.

I have been telling all my friends and putting the idea on hubpages and topix. I am not good at computers. If I was black I would be more vocal about the movement because I would have more flexibility what to say.

Oh sure Oreo daddy, not hard at all. "Black Like Me" is a book you should read. I have many African features and look one drop black. You would think me Cajun if I tried to "pass" black.

do you know if it is possible for a white man to go undercover as a black man? I don't even know where to begin looking. I wish they would invent a chocolate tan or something.

You are correct sir, about the light skin. You could argue that is the best thing to be in america right now. I do not think that white skin is necessarily the white man's best friend right now. All white skin does is make the white man an easy target. I have been telling people for years that black skin would protect the white man.

The white man as a whole has a lot of good qualities. I think the white man's number one weakness right now is he does not have a black voice to help him. If I was in charge I would take about 3 percent of the white male population and have them go undercover as a black man. I would use these men to help white people with interacial relations.

oreo bosses. Lets say a business has some rebellious black employees. White authority figures are afraid to say anything because of racial politics. What do you do? You bring in an oreo boss to help motivate black employees. Don't you think a black skinned boss could help? I know I do.

oreo lawyers. Lets say a white person is accused of discrimination. Don't you think a black skinned lawyer could help out much better. I know I do.

White men going undercover as black men could also be used to help get black votes. And in security guard and law enforcement positions. I think the white community should use black hands to handle their black issues.

black skin would also help nerdy looking white men look like stronger men. These napoleon dynamite types need black skin.

black skin is also good at attracting the ladies.

And that is the answer to all the white man's black problems. White people keep complaning about racial politics. This comment I just wrote is the solution.

big daddy oreo, yes but light black skin may make them beautiful like Belafonte and Vanessa or Barack.

Levertis, Eddy, Just back in from a trip where computers do not work along with cell phones and there is no electricity except batteries, sorry that I missed your visit. Thank you for coming by and visiting and checking in. Excellent points. We look for fault anywhere, we are likely to find it. I wonder the guy's charity record is?

To be blunt. All the white man has got to do is dye his skin black and he will have much more flexibility on what he can and can not say.

donald sterling is a rich and powerful man. But a chain is only as strong as its weakest link and white skin is that link. It is time for the white man to get that race change. It is time for a new era.

Whew! My mouth is open, and I cannot shut it. This is in-depth stuff! I agree, and I think you are right that many others are guilty, etc., etc., etc.

I am glad that you touched the point that more than blacks have faced racism or discrimination. Also, I wondered about the mistress being mixed with black. Just how racist was Sterling, my goodness? It seemed that he did not care that certain things were kept undercover as long as they did not ruin this image that he pretended to have.

I find it hard to just kick even a racist down to the ground. I cannot help but feel some compassion. He is old and may be experiencing a senior crisis, too. He probably needs to feel that he still has it, and a young woman helps with that. She apparently is not very fond of him. I doubt if he cares as long as she makes him look good.

I had an elderly relative who flirted with young women in order to feel good. It was embarrassing, but I still sympathized. His wife just shook her head and dismissed it. She did not worry because he was old. Besides, Viagra was not on the market.

      Interesting hub, indeed!

Bronwyn you took that backwards. In the 30's through 60's immigrants and the children thereof from Poland were brutally discriminated against and mocked and ridiculed. Here is a short synopsis that might be helpful. And this is not the half of it. So it is mentioned here, just like an abused child may grow up to be an abuser.

I hope that clarifies. And I think you would be proud to delve into that part of your heritage, well worth it.

I know that racism will not just disappear even in the time of today people are still being picked on it is sad and so pathetic. Just as the Barcelona player who picked up a banana thrown at him from the crowds the person is now banned from attending all matches that act insinuated him to be a monkey and racism in soccer is still going on so I feel sorry for those who act that way treating people differently is not how you should live but in this cruel world there are is far too much to cope with. Interesting hub!

I was blown away by the reaction of the commissioner and the penalty handed down. Blown away because it was the harshest the league could give Sterling and I didn't expect them to follow through and do the right thing. As always, an interesting perspective my friend. You never disappoint.
