Donald Trump Uncovered

Updated on December 3, 2016

I have been fascinated by Donald Trump ever since he appeared on the world stage of politics. I have been studying him by reading his biographies and reading reviews of his books on Amazon.I also read Tony Schwartz’s article in the New Yorker as to how he served as Trump’s ghost writer for the Art of the Deal. After much observation, research, and analysis, I have come to the conclusion that Trump is a master manipulator. Here is a list of rhetorical devices that Trump has cited and that he uses for tools of manipulation. These are his words, not mine.

  • Truthful Hyperbole
  • Think big
  • Divide and conquer
  • Counter puncher
  • Play to fantasies
  • Hate the media
  • Play to win
  • Perception is reality
  • You can’t con people, at least not for long.

Truthful Hyperbole

Truthful Hyperbole is an exaggeration of the truth. It can be used in both positive and negative exaggerations of the truth. From a logic standpoint, either something is the truth or it is not, but a hyperbole by definition is not to be taken literally. So if something is not to be taken literally, how can it be the truth? "Don't make a mountain out of a mole hill." is a good example of truthful hyperbole.

He also uses this technique so that he can just barely stay on the edge of truth and sometimes go into false areas. He does this to test the waters and see if his assertions will stick. If his assertions don't work, then he may or may not back off and soften his approach. But, I believe, you will never be able to pin him down. He is a master at "tap dancing" and "now you see me, now you don't.

I have included two video clips below.

One is a clip from the movie Chicago, where Richard Greer plays a lawyer named Billy Flynn who tap dances his way through court proceedings to get his friend Roxy off the hook, because she shot her husband.

The other one is a clip from the movie The best little whore house in Texas where Charles Durning plays the Governor of Texas who can't be pinned down by the press by singing and dancing to a tune called "I love a little side step." They are both quite entertaining, but if you don't watch them that's O.K. too. But I think they embody what Trump is about.

Name Calling and Glittering Generalities

Name Calling and Glittering Generalities are two propaganda techniques that Trump uses. Name calling is used to diminish your opponent’s position, instead of supporting your opinion with facts. Glittering Generalities uses important sounding "glad words" that have little or no real meaning.

Trump uses these techniques very effectively by combining them with many adjectives and repeating them over and over again. Name calling is one that he uses and that he used to divide and conquer his GOP opponents to win the nomination for president. Do you remember, little Marco, lying Ted, low energy Jeb, crooked Hillary, and crazy Bernie, just to name a few? He still calls Hillary, crooked Hilary.

He uses adjectives such as huge, amazing, fantastic, beautiful, incredible, to amplify his message, by repeating them in one sentence and using them several times in his speeches. If he wants to diminish the value of something or someone, he uses words like rigged, unfair, fixed, crooked, and corrupt. He plants seeds of doubt and new thinking by using these words. He states, "If Hillary wins the election then, it must be rigged." So if she is elected, in his mind and his followers, Hillary only won the election because it is rigged. That is difficult to be prove one way or the other, however, those words can be used to malign her forever.

When you experience name calling and glittering generalities ask yourself the following questions:

  • What does the name or label mean to me?
  • Does the idea in question have a valid connection with the real meaning of the name or label?
  • If the glad word is removed, does the idea still have merit?

Think big

Trump says, that if you are going to think, you might as well think big. Trump comes from a privileged background, so it is much easier for him to think big. Unlike people who are not as privileged as he is. However, he does know how to play to peoples fantasies, even if you are rich or poor.

This is a no brainier, everything that one sees and hears about Trump is big. His buildings, golf courses, business transactions. Even his debt is big and so are his tax returns, if he ever releases them. They claim the only thing that is small are his hands.

Play to win

Trump loves to win, no matter what the cost. Do you notice how many times he uses the words win, winning, winners in his speeches? He changed his campaign staff so that he could position himself better against Hillary. His need for winning gave him the impetus to take out the whole republican primary field.

When he was being interviewed by Larry King. Larry asked him, "You said you made a million dollars for that speech. The record shows it was 400,000?". Trump's answer was, "In my mind, it was worth a million dollars after all the promotion fees were paid." In his mind he was the winner.

He also claims, he and Putin met on a 60 Minutes show of which he later denied ever meeting Putin. He also says Putin called him brilliant. When in fact, Putin called him the Russian name for colorful. But Trump believes he called him brilliant so in Trumps mind he wins.

When Trump uses words, they don't always mean the same thing as common usage. When he says that Mexico will pay for the wall. In his mind the word "paying" might mean painful...who knows?

Perception is reality

When Trump was developing properties, he had arranged for a loan from a group of bankers. The bankers were coming to visit the property, but there was nothing there except clear land. He told his people to get heavy equipment and operators and just keep everybody busy to look like there was a lot of development taking place. When the bankers arrived, one of them asked, “Why one worker was digging holes and the other one is following with his tractor and burying the same hole?” Trump in his inimitable way put up a smoke screen by changing the subject and the banker never asked the question again.

He went to Louisiana to help the flood victims, even after being told by the Governor, that his presence would be too disruptive. He was shown with Mike Pence unloading packages from the back of a truck. It turns out the packages were Playdoh. The photo op took all of 49 seconds. This gave him the ammunition to criticize Obama and Hillary for not being there and to make it look like he was being very presidential to his supporters.

When he met with the President of Mexico, he claimed he was being very presidential by meeting with a head of state. But he was just there for the photo op, because he did not even talk about the wall. Again, it was ammunition to criticize Hillary for turning down her invitation from the Mexican President.

Counter puncher

Trump is a counter puncher. He says, if you criticize me or attack me, I will hit you 10 times as hard This was evidenced in his criticism of Rosie O’ Donnell and Megan Kelly. Where he called Rosie a fat pig and told Megan that she is bleeding from her whatever.

Trump counter punched Hillary's statement with a video about how she called half of Trump's supporters deplorable. His video states that she called millions of working class people deplorable.

In propaganda terms, that is called a false equivalence. It's the same as comparing apples and oranges. He changed it from half of his supporters to millions of working class people. There simply is not evidence to support his statement. He also said he won the popular vote, if you discount all the illegal voters. Hillary won the popular vote by over 2 million votes. If one uses a little bit of logic, that means that over 2 million people had to cast illegal votes.

Hate the media

Actually Trump doesn’t hate the media. On the contrary, he loves the media. When he says he hates the media, it gives him a platform to argue against the media. Once he does that, then he becomes the authority and they lose. He also loves the media because they give him as much attention as he requires to feed his ever needy egomaniacal persona . It doesn’t matter whether the attention is positive or negative as long as he gets the attention. In his mind, he will always turns it in to winning.

Play to people’s fantasies.

  • Wouldn’t it be great if he could build this big, beautiful, giant wall that has a beautiful door and keep out all of those evil Mexicans that come here to rape, steal, and commit crimes, and then have the President of Mexico pay for it?
  • Wouldn’t it be great to bring jobs home again from overseas and increase our job market?
  • Wouldn’t it be great to wipe out ISIS, immediately?
  • Wouldn't it be great to improve our infrastructure and repeal Obama Care?
  • Wouldn't it be great to increase our military strength?
  • Wouldn’t it be great to have a strong authority figure like Trump to Make America Great Again?

You can’t con people at least not for long.

Trump says, "You can’t con people, at least not for long. You can create excitement, you can do wonderful promotion, you can get all kinds of press…but if you don’t deliver the goods, people will eventually catch on."

All of the techniques I have covered worked well for Trump in the business world. But being on the world stage of politics and in front of the media for the world to see is another story. His rhetoric and actions are being recorded for all the world to see and hear.

In the digital world, it is very easy to play back something that he has said and/or done that contradicts his current thinking on that same subject. So it is very easy to prove that he is a hypocrite. However, he is a master at manipulation and confusing his questioners.

He won the election as president? In the final analysis, I believe he is nothing more than a big B.S er salesman and is selling himself as one his products by diminishing the value of the competitions products. But he is extremely amazing, and very, very, very good at it.

He is now on the world stage as President Elect. Only time will tell if he has the right stuff.

Catherine: Thank you for the suggestion in your other comment. I unpublished that hub after I rewrote it, thinking that people who already read it would recognize it and not read the update. Also I wanted all new comments based on the rewrite. I'm new to this re-writing "gig", but I won't unpublish another one. Thank you so much for your suggestions and comments. Have a great holiday.

You nailed it. Or should I say you nailed him. (Donald Trump) At first I thought he was just a buffoon, but I very quickly saw how he was an evil manipulator. He said outrageous things and some people believed it because it was what they wanted to believe.

I read some of your comments about trolls. You can use the settings in HubPages on your profile page to limit comments only to HP members. However some hubbers are trolls too. Also I have had people join HP just to troll me. (They never wrote a hub.

      Decoy After Decoy!

Ever heard of the New World Order? I keep asking "What's going to happen to the "poor and ignorant" people who are the Majority in President Trump's eyesight?

      The "Doomsday Clock" is ticking!

Mr. Russo, Google the article "Now the Government can kill Christians" and read about the "Guillotines in America!" Read how "President George W Bush Sr signed Agenda 21, under the united nations charter, but he also signed legislation for HJ Res. 104 into law" (Bill Dannemeyer,U.S. Congressman, 1979-1992)! Read about the "Noahide Laws!"

They know the truth, but are too scared to use it against him. No, I think this is the people's fight! We are all going to have to activate our Twitter accounts!

I feel like Alice who fell through the looking glass. Up is down now.

Trump should have been jeered when he made fun of the disabled reporter. Not cheered on to the highest office in the land!

I fervently wish that the media would quit giving Trump positive coverage or make excuses for his behavior.

Trump is a fraud, and his ignorant, dangerous policies should be exposed!

The media is not being fair to the people of this country. They keep trying to make Trump seem like a rich bully, or someone to be pitied.

He is DANGEROUS and no one is reporting on this!

I'm not a conspiracy person, but when the statement came from Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov, they were almost proud they were able to do it. I also believe that the GOP wanted Trump, so that they could keep their jobs, but they are going to use him and Mike Pence will actually run the country the way the GOP wants them to.

Austinstar, Shyron: Look at this way. Hillary won the popular vote. That means more people actually supported her agenda than Trumps. However, she lost the electoral college vote, because her people didn't campaign as much in the states that have big electoral college numbers, because the polls showed they had it in the bag. Trump did campaign more in those states, therefore he won. We have to campaign to have the electoral college removed. It is outdated and archaic. It was created to keep black people from voting, because they were only 3/5 of a human being...Can you imagine that?

After Trump's first transition meeting with Obama, he said Obama is a great man. While he was campaigning, he said Obama is the worst president in history. B.S.. at that level has consequences, especially for those who believe it and act on it. He will never apologize for the birther movement and there are still people who believe he was born in Kenya.

Syron, I don't interact with the trolls either. I did once and it cost me posting privileges. They are not worth it. It is now costing them posting privileges.

But, the main thing is, leave this country or watch it go up in flames. Most people don't understand what is coming. The Jews stayed while Germany imploded, and look what it cost them.

The only place on the globe that even might have a chance to survive is the Southern hemisphere. And even that is doubtful.

My husband doesn't want to leave, so I am fighting that. This election may have cost me my marriage of 26 years. I can't live like this. I feel like I am being raped. A woman with no power against evil men.

This election showed the great divide between blacks and whites, but it also showed the huge divide between men and women.

How do we continue to live in a place where women and minorities are powerless?

I'm going to hang around for a few months to see what comes of these lawsuits against Trump. But even if he is impeached or forced to step down or resigns, Pence is the Christian Taliban, so it might even be worse.

BTW, I noticed that the actual Taliban has already asked Trump to withdraw from Afghanistan. For that reason alone (if he actually does it), it might help in some small way to save some brave U.S. soldiers.

But I still think the Northern hemisphere is in for a rude awakening. Just based on the EPA (no)-director pick.

Obama is going to try to set up a global climate change committee on his own. Might be of some benefit, I hope.

There was just this big thick gray covering over the whole basin. It will be interesting to see what he does about many government programs that are for the general welfare of the people, not big corporations and big moneyed interests. He may increase the economy, but it may be at a cost to our health and well being.

Hey People, I have concerns about EPA appointment, too. I remember in elementary school having to deal with sig alert days in which we had to be kept inside the classroom when the smog got thick. Mind you that I grew up in the South Bay -- the least smoggiest area in the basin, thanks to a constant sea breeze that blew that crap out. Still, there were times when you couldn't see the San Gabriel Mountains at all. Luckily those alerts have been drastically reduced since EPA and others started getting involved in reducing emissions.

They will not get jobs, they will not get healthcare, they will not get clean air, or water, they will not get a great country again. And they are too stupid to know this.

The only thing I feel good about is that Hillary did win the popular vote. She didn't get enough electoral votes. I guess Trump knew how to play the game because he campaigned feverishly in states that had the most electoral votes. I think the head of the FBI played into this as well. For many years, the right wing propaganda machine has successfully characterized Hillary as a monster that in reality does not exist. What did exist is that she was a threat to their agenda. I feel sorry for Hillary. Those that voted for Trump don't even realize that she is their loss. Congress and soon the Supreme Court will not have a balance of power. They have decimated our democracy.

Trump is supposed to go to court for Trump University and the women who are suing him. But knowing how he can manipulate people, I'm not even sure he will go.

Mike, this is still a great hub, even after the results of yesterday.

I fear for my children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, and it sickens me that anyone would have the gall to expect me to move to another country. On both sides of my family I have Native American ancestors and the ancestors that came here from other countries have been here for 6 generations according to genealogy research.

Fear mongering! The Berniefan (not a Hubber) said. Must be a rich person to not have any fear of the power the conservatives have, or is one of them and does not care. My husband and I live on a fixed income, and this is the first time I remember the GOP in total power and when they tried to end Social Security either the Democratic Senate, Congress or the President was there to protect it, because it was the Republicans who wanted to end it, i.e. George H.W. Bush and George W. Bush (who did deplete the SS surplus to fund his private war in Iraq) and there were many others.

So to the Berniefan, you too will age and if SS is ended maybe it will not matter to you, but if that is what you have to live on, you will be out of luck with the current regime.

Mike this is a sad time in American history, thank you for writing this.

Mike's points can't really be argued with. Since you have such passionate ideas and opinions DTMB, I suspect you could write excellent hubs. Then it is your work, your words and you have control. You can express your thoughts, share your knowledge and still be able to exchange comments with other writers.

Makes a lot of sense and sounds like a Win-win for you.

Anybody can criticize, but where you when the paper was blank? I believe that if you are going to be on a site that promotes writing, then you should be a member and write articles, not just criticize the authors.

I'm sure we all work very hard at writing decent articles by doing research and analysis, but a troll just just roams around the Hub sphere and looks for ways to demean others who don't agree with their opinions.

If I want to express my opinions and argue my points, I create forums where the format lends itself to that type of engagement from both sides.

I have never had a hub unpublished before based on peoples comments and I don't appreciate it So let's respect each others efforts and creativity and move on from here.

Paula says that poor Mike has been through enough today due to our rude & ignorant troll. Let's not hijack his thread with "off-topic" discussion please.

HP has already admonished all of us to make sure our comments apply to the Hub topic. We had no choice today but to deal with the troll, but he won't be back. As soon as he realizes that all hubbers intend to delete his comments and ban him from their sites, he'll have to go trolling elsewhere. The sooner, the better. Bah-bye Wild Bill!

It's pretty apparent that the 2 opposing sides (politically) are very hyper-sensitive and on edge. Take a deep breath. (I would imagine that Lela is not fond of your reference of "looney tunes statements." Is that OK in your opinion? ) Tit 4 Tat....Goose-Gander....isn't that the way it goes? 4 more days...that's all. Just 4 more.

I say we should both give Mike the Go ahead to delete these 2 off topic comments of ours....don't you? Fire away Mike. You have the right.

What you just said Paula "Outside Intruders who enter our site to stalk, harass and intentionally create chaos have no place here and are not welcome" is so true and I agree 100%...only when you condemn people for trying to force anyone to QUIT HP I wonder, are you making an exception for people like Austinstar who on this very comment section said:

"I nominate for exclusion from HP:

and any other trolls that do not write HUBS!

Sounds to me like what's good for the goose should be good for the gander, don't you think? I see no difference between austinstar and the troll you rightly accuse.

There are no rules on hubpages that require participants to write hub pages so instead of attacking people simply because they don't meet her made up standard (which actually is transparently an excuse for the fact she can't stand that they disagree with her looney tune statements) she should be taking her complaint up with Hub Pages.

      What say you, Paula?

Austin Star: I'm beginning to realize there are two realities. One is created by Fox New, Brightbart, Trump, and Alt Right. The other reality is created by what they are now calling the Main Stream Media. All of these news shows create a deluge of information that can be confirmed by a persons bias on either side of the fence. If one believes in conspiracy theory, they can confirm their beliefs on the internet. If one believes Trump is a good guy, they can find information to support that as well. If they believe Hillary has been abused by right wing propaganda, there is plenty of information to support that as well. Once the information has been confirmed, there is no need to look any further, because it becomes fact as long as it supports the persons agenda.

I long for the old days when there was the 8 p.m. news by Walter Cronkite and Huntley Brinkley. Everybody argued from the same source because they presented the news from two view points, just once each night, not on a 24 hour echo chamber. Thanks for dropping by and your comments.

Jack: I don't blame them. It's a fact. No, other countries were not part of the Chalibi agenda with the neocons. Other countries came into the coalition as part of the UN resolution. Clinton voted for the war as well as all other congressmen except Obama.

Here is an excerpt from the Huffington Post.

"Clinton’s record on the resolution and the Iraq war is stuffed with as much fiction as fact. Start with the resolution. It did not explicitly call for waging war against Iraq. It demanded that Saddam Hussein permit UN inspectors back into Iraq to determine whether he was indeed ramping up his alleged stockpile of weapons of mass destruction. It gave a hard deadline for him to agree to inspection and failing that authorized military action. It hedged the war call further by emphasizing that the U.S. must continue to push for “further diplomatic or other peaceful means” to get Hussein to comply. It hedged things further by mandating that Bush before waging war tell Congress why a military assault was necessary.

Clinton didn’t take Bush’s statements on Iraq totally at face value. Bush national security advisor Condoleezza Rice swore to her before she voted that the resolution was intended to get inspections going again and not just as a cover to start a war.

We now know that Bush shamelessly lied about the weapons, and Hussein’s aim to make and use them. However, though it was widely suspected that it was all a tissue of lies, given Hussein’s hideous and bloody record of invasion, intimidation, and gross human rights violations, there was just enough doubt to make it seem that Hussein was a real threat to blow up the region. This was enough to sell the resolution to 28 other Senate Democrats who along with Clinton voted for it."

What lies and treachery came out of the wikileaks emails? It was all about campaign strategy. Did you even read the emails I posted?

Jack: So Chalabi makes no difference to you about the false pretense of the invasion of Iraq and how he and the necons started it? Instead of reading news outlets, why don't you do research on wikipedia, they are totally unbiased and vetted by groups of knowledgeable people? I read the Wikileaks. That is behind the scenes strategy by the DNC both sides do that. Here are the six most explosive wilikleaks according to Vanity Fair:

By the way you can thank Trump for asking Putin to hack Hillary's email. That is better known as treason when a civilian asks an enemy head of state to do something that could be detrimental to the national security of our country.

Jack: In other words, you didn't believe a damn thing I said, nor did you even go to wikipedia and look up any of things I asked you to verify that I'm not lying. . I put all the time and energy in explaining it in detail, but if you want to continue to spread false information, that is your prerogative. It just saddens me that so much false information is spread around, because of Fox News and their right wing agenda. I'm not blaming 9/11 on Bush, but you said there was no terrorist attacks while he was in office. For your information 9/11 was a terrorists attack. For your information Clinton sent cruise missiles to Bin Laden's training camps while he was being investigated for his affair with Monica. Congress said he was trying to distract them from his investigation and it was a case of the tale wagging the dog. Bush had Bin Laden in his sights in Bora Bora, but he let him go. Why? I guess you know that Obama took him out? Bush went to war in Afghanistan after 9/11, because that is where Bin Laden training camps were. Then after that he invaded Iraq because of alleged WMDs and alleged Al Queda, neither of which were in Iraq at the time. I told you that Israel was afraid that Saddam was going to attack them. One of the reasons we went to war was to protect Israel. The necons in our defense department had tight connections with Israel. Most of them were Jews and had affiliations with the Israeli government. Please look up what I told you to, just to satisfy in your mind and mine that I'm not lying. I feel that confident about what i said, whether you believe it or not.

Here is the excerpt of neocons from Wikipedia, just in case you don't look it up. I guess I'm going to have to force feed you the info.

Neoconservatives peaked in influence during the administration of George W. Bush, when they played a major role in promoting and planning the 2003 invasion of Iraq.[1] Prominent neoconservatives in the George W. Bush administration included Paul Wolfowitz, John Bolton, Elliott Abrams, Richard Perle and Paul Bremer. Senior officials Vice President Dick Cheney and Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld, while not identifying as neoconservatives, listened closely to neoconservative advisers regarding foreign policy, especially the defense of Israel and the promotion of democracy in the Middle East.

Here is the excerpt from wikipedia on Achmed Chalibi

Chalabi was a controversial figure, especially in the United States, for many reasons.

In the lead-up to the 2003 invasion of Iraq, the Iraqi National Congress (INC), with the assistance of lobbying powerhouse BKSH & Associates,[6] provided a major portion of the information on which U.S. Intelligence based its condemnation of the Iraqi President Saddam Hussein, including reports of weapons of mass destruction and alleged ties to al-Qaeda. Most, if not all, of this information has turned out to be false and Chalabi has been called a fabricator.[7]

That, combined with the fact that Chalabi subsequently boasted, in an interview with the British Sunday Telegraph, about the impact that their alleged falsifications had on American policy, led to a falling out between him and the U.S. government. Furthermore, Chalabi was found guilty in the Petra Bank scandal in Jordan.

In January 2012, a French intelligence official stated that they believed Chalabi to be an Iranian agent.[8]

Jack, if you want more, I'm happy to force feed you.

PP73, please don't assume that I am ignorant of the Iraq issues. I lived through that period as you and I wrote extensively about it. Are you blaming 9/11 on Bush when he just took office 9 months earlier?

If anything, the 9/11 incident was brought about by Clinton and the distraction he created with the impeachment. Any other President would have resigned to safe the country from being put through more than 6 months of distraction while our enemies plotted. In addition there are tapes that show Bill Clinton being offered Bin Laden and he rejected it because he claimed "we had no jurisdiction..."

The early part of the war was tremendously popular among all. It was only when it dragged on did the Democrats broke rank and used the lies to damage Bush and our foreign policy. They claim it was about oil and we did not take one drop of Iraqi oil. They claimed Abu Graib caused more rebellion and NYT cover it on the front pages day in day out...

They claim the WMD was cooked up by the Bush Administration where as all intelligence agencies were looking at the same info including the French, the Israeli and the British intelligence.

The final lie was linking that we went to war because of 9/11.

With regard to Obama pulling out of Iraq, don't tell me it was Bush's fault. He was the commander in chief and he wanted to end the Iraq war and pulled out using that as an excuse. Every general told him not to do it and he over rode them. How is that for command decision?

Finally, Obama claimed that Gitmo was the cause of the terrorists recruitment. He vow to close it within his first year in office. Guess what? he didn't.

Jack: Achmed Chalibi: Was an expatriate of Saddam's who came to this country and told the necons, including Paul wolfowitz and his gang, that Saddam had WMDs. He wanted to get even with him because he extradited him. He sold the neocons and Bush and Cheny on the idea. He had a cousin living in Germany, code named curved ball, who came up with fake documents to cinch the deal. Bush asked Colin Powell to sell it to the UN, when there was no evidence. Colin Powell being the good soldier that he was came up with artist renderings of what chemical facilities looked like. Now I'm not that smart, but I know that if your are going to prove something to a group of people, you don't use artists concepts of what it looks like in a powerpoint presentation, you us real photos. i read Colin Powell's book and he said it was all B.S. but it was enough to sell the U.N. When they attacked, Achemd Chalibi thought he was going to go in and become the president of Iraq but they didn't let that happen. It was all false pretense, the purpose of it was to protect Israel from Saddam's scud missiles that he used in Persian Gulf 1. When Rice said he was attacking his neighbors that is what she meant. Congress did vote on it, because Bush said if you are not with me, then you are against me.

As far as not having any attacks under Bush, what do you call 9/11?

Obama pulled troops out of Iraq, because of the binding Status of Force Agreement Bush made with Maliki, the Prime Minister of Iraq. Obama had to pull the troops out or breach the agreement that Bush made. Pulling troops out of Iraq did not start ISIS. It was started by Anwar Al Bagdadi who is the current leader of ISIS. He was a prisoner in Camp Bucca. While there he plotted with his fellow Sunni prisoners to start ISIS. They released him because he acted like a model prisoner, but all the time he and his fellow prisoners were waiting to set up ISIS, for a while they were part of Al Queda,, but they had a falling out and they went out on their own. This all happened during the Bush administration. Obama and Hillary had nothing to do with it. If you don't believe me, here is an article that I wrote on ISiS. Please google everything I have said, but don't use right wing propaganda. Go to wikipedia and google Achmed Chalibi, Anwar al Bagadi, and then neocons see what you come up with. Also look up the Status of Force Agreement that Bush had with Iraq.. Saddam was bragging, but he was faking it, He also had tanks, fighter aircraft and artillery that were balloons that looked real from the air. They even had heaters in them to make them sensed by infrared.

Jack, you have to stop believing the crap that comes out of right wing propaganda. Do yourself and everybody else a favor and start questioning the stuff you hear and see. Don't accept it on blind faith. Most of it is miss-information to throw you off of the facts. You will find I don't make this stuff up. I provided too much detail for me to do that.

Peoplepower, I don't want to go back and argue over the Iraq war but I must correct your false accusations about the Bush war. It was not started under false pretense. Every intelligence services agreed that Saddam had weapon's of mass destruction and he himself bragged about it. Congress voted on it including Hillary and Kerry... The war was not started as a rush...It was debated forever in the UN and our troops were stations in Kuwait waiting for the final word. Under Bush's 8 years, we were safe and no terrorist act was perpetrated on the homeland. Unlike under Obama, where we had incidents after incidents. Worse, by pulling out of Iraq, he create the vacuum that started ISIS. Should I go on?

Jack: A motto of "We leave no man behind" doesn't cut it. The republican congress did not want to fund any further assets to Benghazi as part of their sequestration program to cut back on defense spending. Your one sided bias is telling. Yes Bush started the war under false pretenses that caused thousands of people to die. Yes republicans tried to block everyone of Obama's move, but he succeeded in spite of them.

Read the last paragraphs, you don't make this stuff up.

Your justifying bad behavior with other bad behavior is tiring. Everyone should answer for his/her own actions. Don't you agree? or it only applies to people you disagree with. The fact is, according to the CIA operatives on the ground, someone gave the stand down order. Who did? Nobody knows after 4 Congressional investigations. The incident happened over 13 hours. Don't tell me we had no assets to try and save those people. We say leave no man behind as a motto. Apparently, it only applies to deserters like Bergdahl. Your one sided bias is telling. Just blame it all on Bush and the evil Republicans... After 7 and a half years, Obama is clean as a whistle and the most transparent administration that brought us Obamacare. Jonathan Gruber is right, the stupidity of the American voter...

Godsondp: Welcome to hub pages. This is straight from the horses mouth. Comey's FBI transcript from FBI. gov. This requires some reading, but if you want to learn the truth, then you need to read this. It is no B.S. Further, if you do not accept the findings, that's your problem.

Hillary did not leave four Americans to die, but even if she did, they are four. How about all the thousands of people who have died in Bush's war?

      https://www.fbi.gov/news/pressrel/press-releases/s...

Here is the CNN summary on Benghazi. Again these are not simple sound bites. They are the truth and it requires a lot of reading. It is much more complex than Hillary left four Americans to die.

When you were given the secret classification you seem to remember that and the workings i'm sure. Do you buy into the lies about Hillary not knowing the markings of such "C" classified. It has always been do something and tell the people something else. Does this sound like the type of person we need? The hard evidence has for the most part been pushed aside or destroyed by Obama and his corrupt. The doubt has been placed into a large majority of America. I hate to be lied to. Blessing to you Sir and God Bless

jackclee lm has the best comments here thus far. Hillary is crooked as they come. Show us some proof other wise. All I see is more negative and accusations about Hillary while Trump is just being a rude mouthy ass. Actions matter like letting 4 Americans to die. Making a stand for open borders. I guess ya'll need to do you homework and see what Islam is doing to France and wants to do here. SAVE AMERICA VOTE TRUMP

Ah Shyron, thank you for dropping by. You are one of my favorites. After seeing how he uses these techniques, it really helps me understand him. The funny thing is, the people who support him are willing to overlook all of that. I'm afraid the bashing of his opponents is going to become the new normal. They will stop paying attention to him and then he may do or say something really serious or dangerous.

Blessings to you as well my friend.

Mike, this is awesome, and I love the video clips.

I wish that everyone would read this, and understand the consequences of a trump Presidency, and every time I see the Donald I keep thinking about the old saying: "You can fool all the people some of the time, and some of the people all of the time, but you can't fool all the people all of the time."

      Blessings my friend

Jack: Do you have a need to know about her classified information? If this was truly classified. Then it follows that you and everybody else, does not have the need to know. Classified information is exempt from the FIOA. What was or is the consequences of her handling the classified information. What scandal? She didn't create a scandal. The congressional investigation created the scandal. What if they never investigated, what would the consequences be? Did she cause an event that jeopardized our national security. Where is the deception? She was notified way before the investigation, they were going to be looking at her emails. Did they give her a directive to tell her not to delete her emails? I don't thinks so. Again, if you don't have the need to know, then you are not granted access. You say I'm biased, why don't you look in the mirror. Just because she deleted some of her emails does not make her paranoid about secrecy. Again, the GOP is not satisfied until it finds a smoking gun. What if there is no smoking gun? How long is this facade going to be carried on? When is enough, enough? With Patreus, they had hard evidence as to what he had done. With Hillary, there is never any hard evidence. It's all conjecture and conspiracy theory. Yes I'm biased because she has been treated unfairly by Fox news and the GOP. Yes she acted recklessly, but not criminally.

Your bias is showing. It is clear to me that the intent was to avert FOIA requests. The reason for her own server. The FBI chose to ignore that. The Benghazi affair brought this into open. It was trying to understand what happened there that unravel this whole deceipt. I wrote about this in another hub. If everyone in our government acted like her in handling classified material, God help us. This scandal was her doing. Her paranoia about secrecy lead to this. She is unfit to govern just like Trump for different reasons as I also wrote about.

Jack:The FBI said she did not act with criminal intent. That's the key thing here. If she is guilty of anything, it is she is not tech savvy. The whole state department is guilty of not having standard operating procedures in place for the marking and movement of classified information. I served four years in the Air Force and handled a lot of classified information. Classified is the lowest level, then secret, then top secret. They are all marked with those appropriate words spelled out, not the letter "c." I worked with the National Security Agency for many years. I was granted a secret clearance with crypto access. I developed the procedures for the movement of classified coding materials in the Minuteman missile fail safe system for Strategic Air Force Command Headquarters (SAC). My procedures became part of SACs SOP. I know one thing for sure. Access to any information was only on a need to know basis. If you didn't have the need to know, you were not given access.

As far as Benghazi goes, Hillary did not have the intent to kill those four people. If you analyze it carefully instead of accepting what fox news and the congressional investigations say, it was the fog of war. It was not her negligence. She asked for more funding to increase security in the embassy, but it was denied by the republican congress. If you don't believe me, google it.

Mike, as the FBI director said, there is a much higher bar for criminal indictment. That does not make her free and clear in the public arena. You are making the same mistake. There is no vast right wing conspiracy against the Clintons. Many of the scandals were self inflicted. IMHO.

Thank you Jack: Hillary is nothing like Trump. I have said this many times. Hillary has been made to be a criminal by right wing propaganda. However in congressional investigations, she is always guilty until proven innocent. The last time I looked, that was really a violation of our civil rights. Our constitution states that in a court of law, you are innocent until proven guilty. But with the game the GOP plays, they will never be satisfied with the investigations and the FBI reports, because once they do, the game is over. If she really is a criminal and as guilty as they say, why is she not tried in a court of law, with supporting evidence.?

It astounds me how Trump's followers simply can't be confused with the facts. That alone sets forth their mentality. Trump is the master of propaganda as no matter what he says, he puts another spin on it when it is questioned.

It disappoints me that with as much political experience as Hillary has, she has not mastered that game. I believe that Hillary is making a big mistake by apologizing for some of the things that she has said. She should stand behind her words especially when they are true such as calling a portion of Trump supporters "deplorable". Stand behind that statement because for a candidate to apologize for what that person says on the campaign trail shows weakness.
