EU chief Jean-Claude Junker speaks about Brexit

Updated on March 24, 2017

Theresa May will be enacting Article 50 from this Wednesday 29 March much to the horror of the remainers or remoaners as they are known. Which will mean if everything goes to plan the UK will be leaving the EU in March 2019.

Despite all the best efforts of people like Tim Farron the Lib Dem leader and Gina Miller bemoaning a Hard Brexit or threatening legal action against the government the UK leaving the EU is a fact of life.

Where this will leave EU citizens living in the UK or Brits in EU nations is unknowable right now. However it has been suggested that Brits in European Union nations will be able to apply for citizenship and EU nationals in the UK can do the same.

People like Nigel Farage has been in his seventh heaven since it was announced last year that the UK voted to leave the EU 53 - 48.

Of course all this caused consternation in Scotland and Northern Ireland who largely voted to stay in the EU. They now feel England and Wales who voted mostly to leave the EU are dragging Scotland and Northern Ireland out of the European Union when they voted the opposite in the main.

EU Chief Jean - Claude Juncker has said the UK will be facing a Brexit fee of £50 billion and said he is not bitter towards the UK.

On the contrary he said negotiations will be fair and friendly between the EU and UK but he added the EU is not naïve.

Juncker has had a love/hate relationship with the UK and his nemesis in the European Parliament has been and will be until the UK leaves the EU one Nigel Farage.
