The Point of New Beginning~Youth~Part 4

Updated on March 11, 2015

Potter Pride Built A City

My childhood years were spent deeply involved in something "Potters", whether it was a track meet, football/baseball/basketball game, prom, dances....oh, the memories! One thing that it all meant to us, community!

We stuck together! As a community; every event meant so much to everyone. When a friend excelled in another sport, we rallied around to help them achieve success.

The city of my youth, is seemingly gone. I am talking about downtown, not that Potter Pride doesn't exist, or that community doesn't exist, within smaller segments throughout town.

There are many great organizations in East Liverpool trying to engage the youth. I want to be able to highlight those groups throughout this page. I want to encourage the youth of East Liverpool to learn and love their hometown. In order for East Liverpool to thrive and prosper, the youth must learn how important they are to the economy and their surroundings.

Unfortunately, it is a sad fact that drugs have taken their toll on East Liverpool and surrounding communities. Yet this city is built upon pride, and that is what is behind all of the featured organizations in this article. Their commitment to the youth of East Liverpool is outstanding!

The Youth of East Liverpool

An important aspect of a thriving community, is the education and upbringing of the youth in the community. Also, how the youth interact with their city.

The youth of East Liverpool struggle with a city that is becoming encapsulated by drugs, declining living standards, educational deficits, and no economy to support the youth, thereby forcing them to leave the area to find employment to support their families.

We can combat the ills of society by allowing children to explore their interests.
