Egypt Releases Over 500 al-Qaeda Affiliates from Prison
From bad to worse or is it from badder to baddest? Whatever...but it is not reassuring that the military government has released over 500 al-qaeda affiliated prisoners from the Abu Zaabal Prison in Cairo because they are "no longer a threat". Huh? While Hosni Mubarak may have been hated by the Egyptians, at least he was willing to stamp out al-Qaeda in Egypt by imprisoning them. Some of the freedom leaders at Tahrir Square actually think that by freeing them, they will somehow, not want to be a terrorist or help al-Qaeda restart their presence in Egypt! Maybe they are al-Qaeda members also but still "undercover". Many of the released prisoners were also members of the notorius Gamaa Islamiyya, a movement that killed hundreds of tourists, policemen, seculars in the bombing of 1993 at the World Trade Center in NYC.
Al-Qaeda is itching to reinvent itself in Egypt again and now has many potential members to assist them. The US has opposed their release, but the new government is ignoring the concern. This could be a sign of things to come. Bad things. Bad omens.
Oh, let's not forget the Muslim Brotherhood with a million members who want to see the Sharia Law, strict Islamic codes, become the new way in Egypt. If you visit Alexandria, Egypt's second largest city, one can peer into the future because the Brotherhood is already in control.
Didn't someone say that the Freedom Revolution in Egypt was a good thing? Like many things, think again.
