Even former Democratic VP Candidate Lieberman recognizes a Marxist takeover when he sees one!
Harry Reid’s Public option is even too liberal for Sen. Joe Lieberman who says he will back a GOP filibuster if the healthcare reform bill contains a “public option”! This is a devastating blow to the Obama Oligarchies hopes of maintaining the charade of unified Democratic support for his government-run health care proposal.
Lieberman, who positions himself as a fiscal hawk told Politico he opposes any healthcare bill that includes the public option. He went on to say “we're trying to do too much at once," adding he’d vote against a public option plan “even with an opt-out because it still creates a whole new government entitlement program for which taxpayers will be on the line."
Without Lieberman and several other moderate Democrats, Reid falls short of the 60 votes needed to advance the bill out of the Senate. Also, Maine Republican Susan Collins, who had indicated interest in trying to pass a bipartisan bill this year, issued a statement underscoring her opposition to "a taxpayer-subsidized, government-run health insurance company."
House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer, D-Md., said “I think an overwhelming majority of Democrats are in favor of the public option." In an effort to find ways to make this proposal seem revenue neutral House Speaker Nancy Pelosi is pushing to tie payment rates to providers to the rates Medicare pays! Physicians, who haven’t had an increase in Medicare fee reimbursement for seven years are already hurting. The fees they receive for treating Medicare patients are 40% less than the fees they receive for treating non Medicare patients.
Physicians costs and the purchase of new equipment necessitated by advances in medical technology coupled with inflation and increases in malpractice premiums has risen anywhere from 6 percent to 10 percent a year! This translates into a 50 percent to 60 percent actual pay cut the past seven years. Now in order to pay for this health care debacle congress is proposing Medicare payments to doctors be further cut by 21 percent in 2010 and by about 5 percent in each of the next few years. If such cuts occur, fewer doctors will accept Medicare patients! So just who would treat this additional 15 to 40 million new patients proposed to be covered by this new Health Care Proposal!
Why are both the House and Senate struggling to complete work by year's end on Health Care Legislation. In the words of White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel “you never want to let a crisis go to waste”! In other words, time is running out and the American people are waking up; if they don’t get Government Controlled Health Care now, they may never have the opportunity to get it again!
