Fact Checking As Requested Part II...

Updated on September 14, 2012

Don't Drink This Or Stop If You Have Been!

Having received such a splendid response to my Part 1 of fact checking DNC speeches I thought I'd shed a little more truth on Team Obama. Now our Crazy Uncle Joe loves his new slogan - "Osama bin Laden is dead and General Motors Is Alive." The other day on my Hub I had a liberal of genius quality, at least in his own mind, that trumpeted that Obama saved General Motors. The truth, if he bothered to fact check it which the far left wants no part of, is that General Motors is on life support. The Chevy Volt, where Obama put his reputation by saying when he was out of The People's House he would shuffle on down to the dealership and buy one, is a true basket case. It's one of those far left green jalopies. We now need to show him the showroom floor.

What Uncle Joe failed to mention, and by extension a peanut vendor from New Hampshire, failed to mention that is that right now the US tax payer is still on the hook for $49 billion dollars. Praise salvation in Obama's name huh? So what about the Volt? The figures sure don't look good. For every Volt Chevy that sells they rack up a $49K loss. Isn't it splendid how it works when the federal government picks winners and losers?

You know what isn't funny? The Chevy Volt lists for $39K so do the math tree huggers.

The Totality Of The Team Obama Campaign?

Here's the way Reuters hit the nail on the head:

"Nearly two years after the introduction of the path-breaking plug-in hybrid, GM is still losing as much as $49,000 on each Volt it builds, according to estimates provided to Reuters by industry analysts and manufacturing experts. GM today issued a statement disputing the estimates.

Cheap Volt lease offers meant to drive more customers to Chevy showrooms this summer may have pushed that loss even higher. There are some Americans paying just $5,050 to drive around for two years in a vehicle that cost as much as $89,000 to produce.

And while the loss per vehicle will shrink as more are built and sold, GM is still years away from making money on the Volt, which will soon face new competitors from Ford, Honda and others"

Encouraging news for those of us who funded that bailout huh? So now I'll let my liberal readers fact check me, if they can. When Obama first assumed office the federal government invested more than $100 billion in tax payer money to bailout basically the UAW, not General Motors. Presently all of General Motors is worth less than $34 billion. That liberal math isn't working for me. We the tax payers are looking at a loss. It's called a failed bailout and an attempt by the federal government to pick the winner.

But instead we hear stuff like this:

Joe's Take...

Or Here's Jennifer Granhom's Spin...

Both of these Democratic career politicians are nut jobs. General Motors should have been sent to the bankruptcy courts, no passing Go and no collecting $100 billion dollars. Same with Chrysler and then they had the nerve to try to say they saved Ford Motor Company too? How absurd. Ford's CEO told them to take it and put it where the sun doesn't shine. In the future I will be driving Ford products.

Obama is spending $25 million in battelground states spreading the Dems lies. Many might believe it but facts say otherwise. The problem is that what is being spun is not true and the real losers, other than those of us who pay taxes, are former workers like Dephi employees who weren't UAW workers. They lost their pension money and health care benefits to insure that UAW workers had their nest feathered even more. The UAW was the chief cause of the collapse of GM and Chrysler so naturely Obama should reward their efforts to bankrupt a major corporation

I'll close with this video and you can see more on You Tube @ Dephi Retirees for you fact checkers out there. I suggest that maybe you open your eyes and look at the whole picture of the auto bailouts that were so unpopular at the time they happened. Then suddenly since Obama became involved it was the best thing since sliced bread? That's hilarious.

The Part That Keeps Getting Left Out Of The Story. The Left Keeps Talking About Compassion?

With the current problems GM is facing if we get Team Obama for 4 more years expect another bailout. Bailouts are always better in a Democrat's mind than restructuring under the bankruptcy laws. You see when that happens the UAW contracts become a moot point.

Well now, our Crazy Uncle Joe is still out there gaffing away. Osama bin Laden is indeed dead thanks to Seal Team 6 and General Motors Is On Life Support With One Foot On The Banana Peel.

As Always,

The Frog Prince

Remember In November!

      Hi Frog,

The auto bailouts were a disaster. Not only did the taxpayers get reamed, but under bankruptcy law, senior creditors were entitled to the company via a new stock issue, not unionized employees and their pension funds, who are lower in seniority under bankruptcy law. The government basically robbed the taxpayers and senior bondholders and shifted the money to the unions and their pension plans, violating the legal rights of taxpayers and senior creditors.

Jennifer Granhorn sounds too much like Sandra Fluke to me, a Democrat talking head who is clueless.

Great article as always. There are several reasons GM made its turnaround in the stimulus was not part of it.

      1) The tsunami in Japan caused their auto manufacturers to shut down completely. Those car buyers turn to GM, and now that the Japan auto industry has slowly cured itself back up, GM car sales are dropping

      2) The government has not been putting out competitive bids over motor vehicles as they have in the past. They had beginning all of their orders to GM. Case in point Obama has ordered the Defense Department to purchase 1500 new Chevy Volts. The same Defense Department facing sequestration. Obama does not want to spend money defending our nation as is evident by using defense funds to buy useless cars.

These people are not concerned with the truth. They cling to their own misguided bizarre thoughts like children cling to their mamas. I had lunch with one of them the other day and my stomach has never been the same since. Up , interesting, useful and awesome but definitely not funny or beautiful!

Another great hub with the facts in place. Obama lies are multiplying so fast it is hard to keep up. He is really in deep trouble and I don't think he will get a second chance - at least I sure hope not.

Frog: As usual, Jim, you got me thinking--always a dangerous activity.

Q: What's the difference between a conservative and a liberal?

A: The conservative believes in fact CHECKING while the liberal is constantly fact CHUCKING.

Frog Prince, you have laid out the case very effectively in your hub! This is one of the best I've read from you for sure! We always hear this business about the Obama administration spiking the ball, like what Joe Biden was doing in that speech. The problem is they are spiking the ball and they haven't scored a touchdown. It reminds me of a Los Angeles Laker game I was watching a few years ago. I don't remember who the Lakers were playing, but their opponent was winning by a score of something like 95-60. One of the Laker players on the bench started doing the happy dance when one of their teammates on the floor managed to get a dunk. Kobe Bryant wisely told the youngster to sit down and shut up. "What are you dancing about?" Kobe said to him, "We're getting smoked here---and you're dancing? Sit down and shut up!" The Obama administration has nothing to dance about. We're still getting smoked too!

Sir Frog - Agreed to a point. Many of the Left do work though and pay taxes. OK many may have been an overstatement... some. They still follow blindly along. You know the over educated, ultra liberal who can speak brilliantly and write a dissertation that proves how a grasshopper pooping the area means we can't use the natural resources of the area in question, yet common sense seems to be lacking. I find this subgroup of the Left to be fascinating and have been trying so hard to figure them out. I can't. I'm about ready to just look to THE BOOK and conclude they are blind, lost. I hope I'm wrong. God bless, Sir Frog and long may you have the freedom to tell the truth!

Attikos - The Democratic ticket last time had a pathological liar linked up with a known political dunce. Obama is a pathological liar and Biden is stupid enough to repeat his lies. Then tell the press to fact check him? So I did.

poetvix - Yes, you do get it. The reason it makes sense to the left is it isn't there wallet that is being picked.

Well! That's just brilliant. Five year old children with Lemon aid stands in the front yard know better than to spend more than they make selling it! But, oh yea! Our President (puke), the Left's "savior", saved the manufacturing sector of our entire country by giving GM our money so they could sell an inferior product for less than it costs to make to continue bleeding the people's wallets. And this makes sense to the Left how? I don't get it.

The first mark every con man has to sell on his goods is himself. Once he believes his own lies, he can sound assured and convincing when he makes his pitch to others. Biden has the talent. I've no doubt he was sure at the moment he said it that the facts were just as he put them.

I have more questions about the UAW and their policies and demands than I could ever list -- BUT -- sounds like they've found their partner in crime with this POTUS -- and yes, appears to me there's another bailout on the horizon if we don't get this president out of office come November. Yeah, didn't crazy uncle Joe say they saved 1million jobs by bailing out GM - only thing was the entire auto industry including all other car manufacturers here only employed a combined total of 700,000 - now that's what I call arithmetic. Slick Willy would approve of that arithmetic!
