Filling the Gap

Politics aside, there is much more to me. I am passionate about many things and those are the things which sustain me.

What does ‘filling the gap’ mean to you?

Over the years, I’ve heard the expression, 'filling the gap' often.

What comes to your mind when you hear it?

If you Google it, you will get this basic definition:

To add what is needed

To add what is needed...came up in my church, this past Sunday.

Our Pastor was talking about the bullet we had dodged from the hurricane named Dorian. We were, we are, so relieved and grateful that it was not like anything forecasted nor anticipated.....for the better!

Once our Pastor was able to get a question that had been on his mind, off his mind, "is Dorian a male or a female name", the message could get underway.

For the record, the congregation was divided on this!

I never questioned the name, of course, it's a male name, I immediately thought of the portrait of Dorian Gray.

I guess some may have thought about a certain female soap opera star.

When that insignificant little detail was cleared up, the sermon became very real!

Although Florida was spared, the Bahamas were hit hard, they were pummeled for hours, many lives were lost and today, the survivors find themselves in dire straits and in desperate need of assistance from their fellow man.

We fill that gap, by helping in any way we can; we are to be the hands and feet of Jesus Christ, we are to be a light in the darkness.

Our church is partnering with ‘Convoy of Hope’, but there are so many ways to help, in order to help fill the gap!

Filling the gap in other ways

For me personally, I believe that 'filling the gap' also means working against those telling and teaching lies about my beloved Country.

We can all see for ourselves, the great divide which has occurred, beginning with Barack Obama and the "transformational" far left crew, as they've become more empowered.

Things have become much easier for them, as they work to unravel tradition and connections between they work to play games and take liberties with our laws and our lives, as they work to revise and redefine core beliefs and principles.

At one time, here in the States, you wouldn't have heard any Candidate, talking about revising the Constitution, revising or omitting altogether, particular Amendments to the Constitution.

Perhaps, the far left, has always desired to conquer America from within, but they've never felt as emancipated as they did once the 'Fundamental Transformation President' was able to get his foot in the door.

While masses of people were cheering for him, they were wittingly and unwittingly cheering for us to become 'something else', something more like everything our Founders shed blood, sweat and tears, to avoid.

They cheered for there to be more government-control over us, via socialism and although the word wasn't used as glowingly as it is today, that's exactly what Barack Obama was all about. He was not a gap-filler, but rather a wedge-placer, intentionally furthering the divide.

Present day, the left, the Democratic candidates, career politicians, aren't the least bit reluctant about expressing their goal; cradle to grave care from them, our government, therefore, giving them power...over us.

In stark opposition to what our Founding Fathers gave us, by way of our Declaration of Independence, U.S. Constitution and Bill of Rights.

The slow chipping away which, in my opinion, got its initial grip, saw its first glimpse of hope, when Roe v Wade was passed and signed into law.

When a group of radicals {including Supreme Court Justices} were able to convince enough people...that life did not begin with a pregnancy!

If "the right to life" could be modified...every word to follow, specifically worded to our (yours and mine) benefit, could become fair game.

From that point, in my estimation, it has become more of a moderate chipping away at our foundation; as this movement has taken over politics, academia, the media and too many susceptible young minds, along the way.

We have come to the point where the leftist progressives will not only argue with you about what the Constitution states and doesn't state, what life is and isn't, that boys and girls aren't physically different, they brazenly seek to take God out of everything!

If Creator God, giver of all things, whom our Founders acknowledged more than once as the giver of any and all rights, is cast out, where does that leave a Republic?

Furthering the divide

Over time, a gift with a message and a purpose from the French to the young startup, the United States of America, has lost its original meaning, due, in part, I believe, to a poem, which came later.

A thought-provoking beautiful poem which I am not about to condemn, but which found its way into the wrong hands and has clouded the original intent of the gift of the Statue of Liberty.

A poem we've all heard by now:

'The New Colossus'

“Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses yearning to breathe free...”

The Statue of Liberty represents what freedom looks like, an example of what every other Country on earth should seek/strive, to duplicate!

It is what the French desired for themselves and for all of Europe.

From her torch lifted high, a beacon, shining a sweeping light, so that all the world may see what liberty looks like, to the broken shackles at her feet, which represent the overthrow of tyranny...

This is what Lady Liberty represents

Yes, we are a welcoming place, but progressives have used the poem, the inscription on the base of the Statue of Liberty in a twisted way.

They've promoted the poem, as the purpose, while ignoring the initial desire of the French people, for what we've built here, to resonate from one side of the earth to the other.

This too has helped to widen the gap, between those that understand the original intent and those that have adopted the poem, as the original intent.

How do we get back to teaching about our History as it happened, not as those radicals who have infiltrated academia have been teaching?

Can we get back to it, before all is re-written, misinterpreted and taught as such, before it's too late?

Healing Begins...

'Filling the gap', becoming the hands and feet of Jesus Christ, when our fellow man is in despair and even when there may not be obvious signs, just because it's the right thing to do, we begin to heal.

By filling the destructive gap created by far left progressives, by means of not allowing anyone to silence us, as we continue and carry on with the mission of our Founders, we begin to heal.

By reminding those that have been influenced by the wrong message for far too long, to understand that they are living in one great Country, 'God shed His grace on thee'.

A Country anticipated, envisioned, fought for and designed, as a Republic, wherein all power lies with the people.

Think about that, as you go over in your mind, all that Europe has lost within the last two decades or so, what Venezuela has been reduced too, what Hong Kong is fighting to hold on to, whatever it takes.

By design, placing invisible walls all around us, a sovereign Nation, a Nation of Laws, "a Nation Of, By and For the people", as it was so perfectly described by President Abraham Lincoln, many years later, the United States Of America.

Personally, I’ve had my fill of the wedge placers, the gap dividers, the unlike Christ crowd seeking to reduce us and this Nation to what so many other Nations have been lost to, are currently battling or are beginning to see as a battle for their soul coming their way.

All while we have what they‘ve never had; whether they’ve neglected to embrace it or never thought they needed the example of "a light to the world...a city which can't be hidden", to find their way.

Whatever the case, we seem so eager to extinguish the light for everyone, including us!

What if, we all worked toward filling the gap; filling a need, doing for others, always seeking to do the right thing....can you imagine?

I particularly love the line where you said, "For me personally, I believe that 'filling the gap' also means working against those telling and teaching lies about my beloved Country."

I totally agree! I think that's why we write these type of hubs and try to spread them on social media. It's like John the Baptist--sounding the alarm ahead of time. For those with eyes to see and ears to hear, we can see the devastation that will result from choosing the Leftist's path of death over the path of life God put this country on, but it appears the "god of this world" has blinded far too many.

I like that you addressed the way the Left has twisted the meaning of the Statue of Liberty--this is an ancient trick of Satan. Always perverting what God says and does and making it a lie--a lie to trick and lead to destruction instead of life and liberty.

Keep writing and sounding the alarm!

I'm so glad you were spared the wrath of Hurricane Dorian, too, by the way. Praise God!

      Hi A B Williams,

I totally agree about helping out others in times of great need. I read today that more than 3,000 people died on Abaco Island as Dorian went through. Most probably already knew this, but I don't watch the news, other than when I'm looking for specific information on a subject that a news station might have covered.

It would be a very sad world if people didn't reach out to give a hand, and with everything we see the left doing to our nation, I pray that the USA never becomes a place where we can't help others.

You also spoke about the inscription on the Statue of Liberty. There was a dedication speech given when the statue was set in place, and the very last line of the speech said this:

"The rays from this beacon, lighting this gateway to the continent, will welcome the poor and the persecuted with the hope and promise of homes and citizenship. It will teach them that there is room and brotherhood for all who will support our institutions and aid in our development; but that those who come to disturb our peace and dethrone our laws are aliens and enemies forever."

There have always been standards for those entering this nation, up until the past few years. If the line, "“Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses yearning to breathe free...” held the meaning that the left has been pushing, it certainly never held that meaning before the democrats decided that flooding our nation will non-citizens would help them achieve their goals. They've definitely created a "gap," in what that inscription actually means. We're seeing the same things happening in Europe, and they can't even use the words from the Statue of Liberty to convince people to just sit still while their nations are overtaken.

If you want to read the entire speech, I found it on

      I enjoyed reading your article.
