From Down Here~Who's 'Yo Daddy?

Cause and Effect

The Confederacy Revisited

Well friends some things change and some things never change. It seems the millions of dollars spent by the Republican super-pacs on anti-Obama ads didn’t go completely down the toilet. They have succeeded in rooting their racially prejudiced, government bashing, fear tactics into the minds of the regressive right-wing nut jobs that are now trying to secede from the U.S. Sour grapes are one thing but this is a completely different animal. These are the same people you will see waving American flags and singing the Stars Spangled Banner at Michele Bachmann rallies. You can read a scientific analysis of this phenomena at: It appears for some, it is better and easier to let someone else do your critical thinking for you than to do it yourself. The wave of stonewall opposition to the idea of progressive thinking hard to comprehend. Where is the integrity of the Republican party? Where is their patriotism? Will a voice emerge from the darkness of the GOP? I’m doubtful. The possibility that a reasonable faction of the Republican party will emerge is like believing that Mitt Romney had a snowball’s chance in hell of winning the presidency.

Martian Invasion

Mitt Romney along with a major contingent of right-wing Republicans couldn’t believe that he had lost. What the hell happened? Romney hadn’t even written a concession speech because he was so sure he would win. Republicans all across America were stunned. Karl Rove’s on screen melt down on Fox News went viral on the internet. How could something like this happen? Was it voter fraud? Their disbelief was probably akin to the feelings some Americans experienced on October 31st, 1938 when they emerged from their tornado shelters guns in hand to find that the emergency radio broadcast that had alerted them of the Martian invasion the night before was just a fictional play. The only difference is that this time it wasn’t Orson Wells on a shoe string budget in the Mercury Theater, it was a near billion dollar budget coupled with bogus polls and ads on every major television network in the country. That’ll make a believer out of you!

Fox News: Unfair and Biased

Fox News and it’s legion of right-wing spin masters had the election at a “dead heat” right up until the end. Fox News pundit Dick Morris predicted Romney would win with 325 electoral votes. He couldn’t have been more wrong or maybe he was since Obama got 332. He may, however, have earned himself a title in the process with “The” appearing before his first name and the exclusion of his last. Sean Hannity, Rush Limbaugh, Larry Kudlow, Fred Barnes, Peggy Noonan among others had predicted a resounding Romney win. How could these bastions of political wisdom be so wrong? The answer is simple; they believed their own hype. They had created their own reality and in the narcotic atmosphere of egotistical self-righteousness they believed nothing could stand in the way of their will and all that money. For some, money has become the new god. One vital axiom left out of this equation, which was brought to bear by our beloved Ohio state senator Nina Turner, is that “Money can’t buy you love”. When people become comfortable and complacent in the din of their own mantras they become deaf to the screams of, “Fire!”. It was a classic example of poetic justice.

The Portrait of Dorian Limbaugh

When Ronald Reagan wrote that letter to Rush Limbaugh in 1992 calling him the “Number One voice for conservatism in the country” he created a monster. The span of time beginning when Morton Downey Jr. passed the nasty stick to Limbaugh in 1984 and Reagan letter in 1992 is a period I refer to as “The Becoming”. It sounds ominous doesn’t it? It sounds like the title of a paranormal science fiction movie, and in a way, it is. That letter fueled the already metastasized cancerous ego that has become the hate machine which Limbaugh is today. He’s found a way to tickle the hate bone in people. Feels good doesn’t it ditto heads? I can’t ever remember hearing Rush Limbaugh say anything positive about anybody. When Ronald Reagan repealed the Fairness Doctrine in 1987 which required free broadcast time for opposing opinions on controversial topics, Rush took it as an open season hunting license on women, ethnicities and the poor. Over the years he’s gotten worse. In February of this year his predatory malice found Sandra Fluke, a Georgetown University graduate student, calling her a “slut” and a “prostitute” when she appeared before house Democrats as an advocate for insured birth control coverage. Rush can’t see the need for birth control but evidently has no problems with the use of Viagra. In 2009 he was detained at the airport in Palm Beach, Florida after a vacation in the Dominican Republic with a bottle of the little blue pills scripted under someone else’s name. Perhaps it’s Divine Providence that Rush has no children. Maybe it’s time for Rush to look at that portrait of himself he has hidden in the attic. We already know what it looks like Rush and it ain’t pretty.

Who’s ‘Yo Daddy?

It’s hard to believe that John Boehner and House Republicans are using the Affordable Health Care Act as a hostage in allowing the country to go over the fiscal cliff. The fact of the matter is, they don’t care. The reason they continue to push the corporate agenda is because corporations OWN them. In reality they don’t care about anyone except themselves and their own PERSONAL wealth. Where did that personal wealth come from? It was conveniently provided by special interest groups like the pharmaceutical and insurance industries. They are spoiled brats and now Daddy(The people who OWN and CONTROL them) wants to know what the hell happened. They don’t care that the country is going over the fiscal cliff. They don’t care about this country and they don’t care about it’s people. They’re furious at the outcome of the election but they’re not half as furious as their Daddy is. The pharmaceutical and insurance industries and countless other so called “job creators” blew hundreds of millions of dollars on a pipe dream perpetrated by Republican leaders who convinced them Mitt Romney(?) could win. Daddy became the victim of his own culpability, but you better not tell Daddy that. Daddy can’t swallow that because the only thing bigger than Daddy’s money is Daddy’s ego. Oooo! Daddy mad as hell! The congress is supposed to be made up of representatives of the people, not lobbyists for corporate special interests which is exactly what they have become. They have shown their disregard for the country when they balked at raising the debt ceiling earlier this year. They’re telling the American people that they don’t care what we think or what we want. Well, we get the message Mr. Speaker and it’s time for you and yours to walk the plank. We see what you are. You have effectively destroyed your own party, but then, you don’t care about them either. History will remember you. Wave goodbye Mr. Speaker.

Lol, I am a somewhat right wing. I knew Obama was going to win handily last Feb. when the main slime media announced Mitt as the front runner before most caucuses and primaries had even begun. I do believe that it was intentional, just putting Romney forward as a conservative to begin with was a slap in the face to most of us "thinking" conservatives. I honestly thought that Ron Paul would have given Obama a much better run for his money, but you know the media says he's crazy so of course the "conservatives" believe them. The GOP have basically self-destructed, and it is hillarious. The unfortunate thing is that with Obama, or if anyone else had won makes little difference our economy is in it's death throws, and probably unsalvageable, I just hope Obama can hold some semblance of order when the house of cards finally falls.

It seems to me that the self-righteous live in a bubble. They are so convinced that their way is the right and only way they lose sight of the world around them. They lack empathy. They eat their own. Where is Romney now? Where are his friends and former zealous supporters? They put him to the sword. I don't think the majority of people are like that. I believe people are basically good and want what is best for all in the country. Thanks for the comment and have a happy holiday season:)

Like your style, the anology with the 1938 War of the Worlds broadcast by Orson Welles, is truly unique.

Your point is well taken, how did all these of the right wing star chamber get it wrong? How could these have deceived themselves so easily. You give me the impression that you had confidence in Obams's relection early on. Could you give me a clue or two as to what left you with that impression?

      Great article

They don't call him the "Drugster" for nothing. Rush is so busy criticizing others he has no time for introspection. His whole business and fortune are built on the hateful criticism of those who he believes to be helpless. He is the consummate bully.

      Great blog:

I did not know about Rush's 2009 Viagra incident. But I am pretty sure that our boy Rush was a non married, single guy in 2009.

It must have been tough for such a “paragon of morality” …having to go all the way to the Dominican Republic to conceal his hypocrisy. All jacked up on his little blue pills, and looking for a warm spot to test his hydraulics. Pretty pathetic!

Nothing wrong with the title, just needs some "googlable" words added, lol.

I had Obama winning strongly from the get-go, even while all of the national polls and pundits, right, center, and a few left said it was close. It simply wasn't the case when viewed state by state. The only time things started unraveling for Obama was after that terrible 1st debate. If he hadn't followed up with two great performances, it would have been a game changer, in my opinion.

CNN and POTUS on Sirius/XM are my main sources for information so I only picked up bits and pieces of stunning degree to which the Republicans were surprised by the outcome. While I would expect that of the followers, it is a typical response for high scoring RWAs, I am surprised the leadership was equally stunned. That would indicate to me they probably wouldn't score all that high on the SDO survey, just the RWA, as SDOs are often pretty wired-in to reality, they just choose to manipulate it for their own purposes.

Thanks ME I will take your advice. You're right about the way the pendulum swings along the political spectrum. I'll try to come up with a better title too. Ha, ha. I just love the way this one sounds.

Yes, very good and certainly on point. One note, everything you say about the Right, right now, could have been said about the Left, left now, er, in the 1970s. Extremes on the political spectrum all have their Daddy's. This is a theme I try to carry through in my hubs but I doubt there is one conservative out there who reads me, believes that statement, lol.

It is interesting to note, the further Left you get on the political spectrum, the higher RWA and SDO scores they tend to get; probably because they are just as dogmatic in their thinking.

Finally, you might sew (sp?) some popular buzz words in your political titles, ones that people might Google on, you will generally get more hits, I think.
