Germany's Chancellor Angela Merkel: one of God's gifts to the World

Updated on December 4, 2016

Angela Merkel stands alone in a sea of wolves

Imagine, if you can, that you are a woman who is an effective leader, standing alone, in a world that is "coming loose at the seams." She finds herself being increasingly surrounded by men who place no value on civility, ethics and empathy for the poor.

Simon Tilford, the deputy director of the Center for European Reform in London has said, "We are very fortunate that Germany is now being led by Merkel, because there is a chance she will step up and do what Europe needs her to do."

It is good, for the sake of the whole world, that Angela Merkel will do what is right. For 11 years this German chancellor has stood her grounds, doing what is right.

Since Mr. Trump has been elected, and Mr. Obama will be leaving, soon, she, Chancellor Merkel, is the last powerful defender of Europe and the trans-Atlantic alliance. Of course, it is normal for her to feel down-trodden, tired and under siege, after being in power for 11 years, and after having been required to live with adversity in this world on a daily basis.

Now Mr. Trump has been elected and seems to be backing right-winged leaders that are favoring Mr. Putin.

We all know that "Mr. Trump openly admires Russia's president, Vladimir V. Putin and has supported the idea that "maintaining economic sanctions imposed on Moscow over conflicts in Crimea and Ukraine will be a challenge." It is difficult to praise a guy like Putin, while at the same time, holding him responsible for wrong-doings.

Merkel will no longer have the backing of President Obama and France's Elysee Palace. It is difficult when you loose really powerful and honorable friends.

There is a dark cloud hanging over Europe and the global community at large, as we try to enjoy the holiday season. Who can take the time to rejoice during the incoming holiday season when the global community is in such an uproar. Actually, we are in a mess. Only blind or ignorant people fail to comprehend the troubles that are brewing on the horizon. Now, even China is upset with us because of a dumb mistake that Mr. Trump made. The Chinese leadership is not willing to forgive us because our leaders are ignorant. Under the best of circumstances, Chinese leaders are very exacting and demand leaders to behave like leaders. The Chinese have nuclear weapons too. They are not about "to take any crap" from bullies who think they are too timid to defend themselves "to the death." "I have heard great warfighters (even Chinese ones) say, "Today is a good day to die for a good cause. Defending one's honor is always a good cause. "Saving one's Face," in the minds of Chinese leaders, is a good thing to die for, even to use Nuclear weapons, if necessary. We must be careful when we deal with the Chinese. They don't play games with ignorant people. They expect only the best out of us, of all people. We are Americans, "For the Love of God!"

I am not prepared to write much about Angela Merkel's thinking about Mr. Trump. Time will tell the story. However, "Ms. Merkel offered Mr. Trump her close cooperation, with a price being attached to it: he must have respect for human dignity and for minorities, even though he has been known to mock both in the pass."

"Germany and America are bound by common values: democracy, freedom, as well as respect for the rule of law and the dignity of each and every person regardless of their origin, skin color, creed, gender, sexual orientation or political views," she said.

She laid down the rules for Trump, then congratulating him based on the understood conditions that she places value on.

Noteworthy, it is sad to have to say, that even in Germany, people may not have learned the difficult lessons of Nazism and Communism because many young, and older, Germans tend to think like Mr. Trump in their admiration for the leader of Russia, Mr. Putin.

As a writer and a researcher who tend to approach politics from an "apolitical" angle, not intentionally, favoring Liberals or Conservatives in the heat of my composition, this article has been written to showcase Angela Merkel. As my father used to say, "We must give credit where credit is due." Angela Merkel is a great leader.

You are so correct, threekeys. There are too few truly great leaders in the world today.
