Every Christian who qualifies should join Gideons International!
What is Gideons International, and why would I want to join?
The Gideons International is an association of Christian business and professional men. It is international in scope. Membership is in The Gideons International, but each member is assigned to a local group called a camp. The local camp is more than a fellowship. The members encourage each other in personal witnessing for the Lord Jesus Christ. The Scripture placement work is also done as a local group and in cooperation with the local churches. Therefore, the need is for men of good report and good standing who can participate in the work. For this reason the standards of the membership need to be kept high.
Article 2 of the Constitution of the Association states:
"The object of the Gideons is to win others for the Lord Jesus Christ, through: (a) the association of Christian business and professional men for service; (b) personal testimony and personal work by individual Gideons; (c) placing the bible - God's Holy Word - or portions thereof, in hotels, hospitals, schools, institutions, and also through the distribution of same for personal use."
The following is Article 3 quoted from the Constitution of the Association:
"The membership shall consist of business and professional men*, except clergymen, who believe in the Bible as the inspired Word of God, believe in the Lord Jesus Christ as the eternal Son of God, have received Him as their personal Saviour, endeavor to follow Him in their daily life, and who are members in good standing of an evangelical or Protestant church, congregation or assembly."
Article 1, Section 2 of the Bylaws states:
"Any business or professional man who shall qualify under Article 3 of the Constitution, except those engaged in the manufacture or sale of alcoholic beverages, and except those engaged in a business the character of which is inconsistent with accepted Christian standards, is leigible for membership in this Association."
* Responsibility for defining these terms for the purpose of Gideon membership is assigned to the International Cabinet under Article 4 of the constitution.

Can I get Bibles or New Testaments for my church or my personal use?
No. Our mission is to reach the lost. We do not distribute Scriptures to individuals, our church partners or other organizations for distribution. Our unique method is to have only our members distribute Bibles or New Testaments through designated traffic lanes of life, thus efficiently reaching a large number of people. We do not overlap, duplicate, or conflict with the mission of churches and other ministries.
If you're searching for a copy of the Scriptures for personal use, visit the Read the Bible section of this website for online resources.
How can military personnel get Scriptures from The Gideons?
The Gideons will supply, free of charge, a small Testament to every member of the U.S. Armed Forces and to patients at U.S. Veterans Administration hospitals. Bibles are available to chaplains for placement in day rooms, libraries, and guardhouses on military bases and military chapels. Hospital Testaments with Psalms are available for the bedside in base hospitals or in U.S. Veterans Administration hospitals. Testaments may also be distributed to medical personnel working at such hospitals. My religious or spiritual background
I was raised Catholic, and converted to Pentecostal in my teens. Then I fell away and I took the road of sin for a while, but there is pleasure in sin for only a season, then we begin to reap what we had sewn. When I moved to Texas, the Lord called me out of my sin and despair, and led me to a wonderful Assembly of God church that I now call home and the congregation family. Last year my husband became a member of Gideons International, later I became a member of the Gideons Auxiliary. I truly enjoy the fellowship we have with the other members, they are a source of encouragement for me and my husband. I am glad to be a part of a ministry that strives to place the word of God in the hands of all people in all walks of life.
