Has racism in America become more overt?

Updated on January 6, 2013

Why do we still have events like the shooting of a young man

There are many people in media who are becoming ever more open about what I beleiev to be racist beliefs and seem to have no issue with voicing them. Politicians committing verbal "mistakes" while addressing the President of the United States. I cannot tell you how many times I have witnessed how people have reacted to minorities and then blurt out some racial slur as a defense to their actions. Are we as nation really moving backwards ro have we never moved at all?

An exerpt from anotheor article called "Racism in America" the author wrote..."Yes, I will be the first to admit that racial profiling, and prejudices continue to haunt citizens in America. It is done by many people, who are unwilling or refuse to properly understand life. They are obviously missing some kind of knowledge and wisdom about living life, for which, continues to escape their feeble mind.

And prejudices, also continue to exist and I can vouch for it, as a witness, because I have and still to this day, continue to see it in the actions of many people, even though they do not know I know about them. The thing that gets me the most is that people truly believe that they can hide their racist prejudices, but every time they open their mouth or take action, they give themselves away.

Some people are ignorant enough to believe that just because someone complains about another person, it is racially motivated and this I know from first hand experience. My mother works very hard at her job, and I know that because, as a kid/child, I use to go to work with her and watch how she did her job. Please do realize, my mother has been at the same job for over 30+ years and she would not have kept her job, if she was a slacker, per se."

The attitude and actions of the above piece is exactly what I am refering to when I ask the question of whether or not we are moving backwards or not moved at all.

Police racism is pervasive...why isn't that being looked at? Why would police officers all over the country be as outwardly racist as is the casein America. Wake up...this is not a bunch of local issues...this is a national issue. It cannot be a coincidence that police officers are behaving the same way toward black people, especially black men unless there is a directive or understood attitude that their behavior will be allowed. recent events have shown, their behaviors are being condoned by somebody...the question is who and how high.

This is a wonderful hub and very true. Many people deny they are racist, but they hide it, or do not realize that they truly are.

Please look at this, it is an example of hidden racism,
