Health Care Reform Special Perks

Updated on January 26, 2014

More Deception and Spending from Team Obama

Cost to BUY Louisiana Democrat Mary Landrieu - $300 Million!!! Is this what the American people really want?  Should we have to buy our elected officials in order to pass legislation?  Is this the Democratic Process in action?  Should we force through Spending Bills that are so large and full of earmarks that the people responsible for approving these bills do not even have the time to read what they are signing?  What’s the rush?  The rush is this – if you deceive and dupe and push through as fast as possible you get your way in spite of public good. Sad state of affairs.

On page 432 of the Reid bill, there is a section increasing federal Medicaid subsidies for “certain states recovering from a major disaster.”  The section spends two pages defining which “states” would qualify, saying, among other things, that it would be states that “during the preceding 7 fiscal years” have been declared a “major disaster area.”  I am told the section applies to exactly one state:  Louisiana, the home of moderate Democrat Mary Landrieu, who has been playing hard to get on the health care bill.

But if you thought the esteemed senator would feel the least bit ashamed of how her decision was made, think again. In her floor speech, after accusations that her vote was bought, Landrieu said: "I will correct something. It's not $100 million, it's $300 million, and I'm proud of it and will keep fighting for it."

It’s exactly the way our Forefathers would have done it.  Buy the dissenters.  Right.

The bill is loaded with fiction. To begin with, it purports to reduce the deficit. This is really an Enron-style scam with the bill's massive new taxes starting on day one and its dramatic new health care expenditures, which will far exceed the tax revenues, beginning in year four. Hence its favorable score: 10 years of revenue, seven of expenditures. In the private sector, people go to jail for this type of accounting; in the U.S. Senate, they trumpet it as good news.

This of course does not include the costs of buying Nebraska Senator Ben Nelson. Nelson is a man who stands for nothing and is clearly not representing his constituents.  Nebraskans are 2:1 against Obama Care.

Many of the claims about how the bill will help people will not even be phased in for another 5 years!  In the meantime the tax collection begins immediately.  This is how the Government is claiming the bill will "Save". So you will pay for years with no benefits.  One very specific example is the banning of pre-existing conditions as bar to coverage.  For children this would begin immediately, for adults not until 2014. Why the delay?  Why are Adults barred from coverage?  Adults are not important?  Kids don’t pay the taxes.

Four States (Including Senator Reid’s Nevada) are receiving Medicare Exemptions for 5 years.  So the other 46 States will be in effect subsidizing their costs. New York will be the only Sate exempt from the tax on Cadillac Insurance Plans.  I guess New Yorkers are special.

The Bill claims it will save money by reducing the reimbursement rates to Doctors and Hospitals?  Hello! It’s hard enough to get a Doctor to take a Medicare patient now.  You think they are going to take on more patients for lower pay?

A July piece by The Boston Globe uncovered a provision in both the Senate and House versions of the bill which would designate large sums of money (up to $1.6 billion each year in the House version) to improve the nation's "health infrastructure." The proposal will cover community grants for such things as bike paths, jungle gyms, sidewalks, lighting, farmer's markets, etc., as a "preventative" health measure.

The Majority of Americans want Health Care Reform, but are against this bill! This is not reform, this is pork laden Government Socialism.

Neither Democrats nor Republican is bringing anything to the table that will clearly benefit the American People.

So prepare yourself for much higher taxes and real sticker shock as this disaster if force fed to the public under the guise of reform.

And next time you vote DEMAND your State Representatives get your State the “Specials Deals”… all they have to do is hold out then wait to be bought.  It’s the Team Obama way.

If Obama worked at a Fast Food Restaruant.

Customer: I’d like Burger

Obama: Do you want fries with that?

Customer:  No.

Obama:  Large Fries, do you want a drink?

Customer: No

Obama: Large Drink, do you want to Super Size it?

Customer:  No

Obama:  Super sized it is. That will be $8.95?

Customer:  I just want a burger

Obama:  Just put it on your Credit Card, Next.

Clearly doing what people want.  They customer was hungry right? Why else would they order a burger?

The good news is Obama is clearly a one term president.

Is Obama Really the Guy You Want Dictating Health Care Policy?

Sneaky? Is holding a vote at 1:00 am in order to cram through bad legislation by Christmas sneaky? You bet it is. Team Obama at work.

If this were a Bill for Reform for the People there would at least be "some" consensus from both parties. I'm not a Republican but I find it very hard to believe that there would not be some Republican defectors supporting this bill on behalf of their home constituents if there was any real support from them. Turns out there is ZERO support from the Republicans and even the Democrats have to buy their own people for 100's of Millions to push this through.

Good hub. I wrote about this yesterday. I think we are all on the same page and very disgusted with the outcome and sneaky way they hid everything. We have yet to know what will be in the final bill Obama signs. I only hope the next election changes things.

There may be a silver lining in this somewhere...and I'm trying to find it. The idea that nothing happens (other than more taxes) for a period of years gives it time to be unraveled in the next Congress. A 5 year delay in cranking up the benefits is time enough to fix this mess.

The bad part is these people know they have a limited time in office. They will be swept out in the next election..and they don't care.
