Champions for regular Americans

Both Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton through their party proved they care about ordinary Americans with solutions for those who lost their homes in the mortgage crisis and in addressing the healthcare crisis. As Democrats both have taken stances against wealth monopoly and tax breaks for a small percentage of extremely wealthy Americans, while a healthy support for business and industry has been maintained during their reigns. The Democratic formula they have supported has brought them great admiration, and America has accepted them as understanding politicians who are in touch with the heartland.

Addressing Healthcare Crisis

Both Hillary Clinton as First Lady of the United States and Barack Obama as President exhibited compassion and a sense of responsibility and attention toward the American People with their focuses on the healthcare crisis. These two have proven with their actions that they consider the health and welfare of the American People more important than the demands for profit from the medical industries. While respecting industry, each has shown a compassion for ordinary Americans and a genuine concern for those less fortunate.

A USA Today/Gallup Poll named 2011's Top Ten Admired

For the 2008 Presidential race many people believed Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton would have comprised the perfect ticket as winning campaign partners for the presidential election. When the two didn't share the president/vice president slots on the Democratic ticket some folks were disappointed. Yet after Obama's election and his selection of Hillary as Secretary of State it became evident that the two are independently popular and politically gifted. Their independent positions in high office proved to be advantageous for the country.

The USA Today/Gallup Poll listed the two as holding the number one spots as most admired among the world's men and women for the year 2011. While it's not as surprising as thought provoking, a glance to the past might help explain the success stories. The poll lists more than these two, naming ten winners for each of the two groups. The list of names is interesting and a glance at each of those winners lends insight to exactly what qualifies a person to win such high levels of popularity and admiration.

A very interesting Hub, but I can't respect a poll that places Bachmann or Palin in the ranks of Clinton or even the talk show host Ellen, and Obama with Bush and Trump and Graham!

Funny that in a companion poll Oabama made two lists at the same time - Most Admired and Most Corrupt. Tells you where the moral fiber of society lies.

Hi Frog Prince, thanks for the comment. I guess it depends on which poll you believe. I keep looking for the sky to fall and it hasn't yet, so Obama must not be all that bad. Thanks for your comments. Happy New Year!!

Michabelle, ell, under the circumstances, I think Obama has done a good job regardless of what the rightwingers might say! Thanks for an article that nicely recaps and brings an end to a most turbulent year.

Thank you so much Cred, I agree completely. It's very difficult for people to recall the gas prices of 2008 and the money spent on all the wars prior to Obama. He inherited a pretty ghastly situation, and I think four more years will give his administration the opportunity to set our country on the right path. Things are beginning to look better so let's hope it continues. I am touched by his compassion for every day people. It appears he's not courting the jet-set as one would think. It's refreshing.
