Hospitals License To Kill

Updated on October 3, 2011
Froggy213 profile image

In 2007, Greg's 23 month old Grandson was killed. At that point, he found a need to write about his family, crime, and local issues.

Another Battle

What I would give to have a life of no drama, but at this point, I have to be the one causing some drama. I am not doing it for myself, but for you and your children and grandchildren.

I truly believe that hospitals are now, not only a place to save lives, but also a place to take lives. It is my opinion that is exactly what happened to my wife. When Jonda suffered distress in Barnes/Jewish St Peters, Missouri hospital, it took staff three hours to do anything to remedy the situation. My wife died of sepsis. It is my opinion that because she was on disability and 49 years old, that a "call" was made to kill her to save money. Jonda was on kidney dyalisis and her drugs amounted to thousands each month. What better way during these tough economic times to save money.

Laws have been made that say that a person with no income and had a wrongful death is only eligible for a limit of a $350,000 award. Lawmakers are trying as I write this, to lower that to $250,000. All in the name of lowering medical costs.

Do you want your loved one in a hospital with no checks and balances? That is what you are getting if yo allow your Congresspeople and Senate to allow this.

Right now, I am trying my hardest to find an attorney to handle this for us. Hospitals have the money to fight and fight, but with a limit of $350,000, there is only so much an attorney can do.

Save Your Loved Ones

The picture above is Jonda. My wife of 30 years.

The staff of Barnes/Jewish St. Peters, Missouri hospital could have saved her life, but didn't. They feel they will not suffer because of it. Will they?

To lower limits even more will guarantee more incompetence in Doctor offices and hospitals.

Wake up America!

Call and write your State representatives. Tell them how you feel.

Yea, it may lower medical costs. At least your hospital bill won't be as big when your family are burying you because the hospital gave you staph infection or overdosed you on morphine.

By the way anyone know a lawyer that may take our case? I am having problems finding one.

I totally believe that Obamacare killed my wife.

Medical reform has been a major issue, but the government takeover is NOT the answer.

Where is the government program that is helping people like myself? I now owe two funeral homes. My wife's death has put me in a tailspin. Thoughts of bankruptcy are at the top of my mind.

I know that there are many opinions on both sides, while people like myself fall through the cracks.

Doctor's, nurses and hospitals need to be liable. Maybe the answer is a central judge that wipes out attorneys all together. Hospital has no attorney and the victim has none. Much like small-claims court.

Please, write and call your reps. Do it for your loved ones. There has to be a middle ground.

Sorry for your loss Froggy. Sometimes staff doesn't listen when people complain at hospitals. Nosocomial infections and MRSA are common infections in hospitals. Medical facilities are about profit. They tend to under staff as well as nursing homes. Forced overtime in medical facilities is also a problem. Believe it or not there have been occasions in some facilities where staff members have been forced to work anywhere from 12-22 hrs straight. In some cases they may work with bare minimum staff and be told they are not guaranteed nothing but a lunch break. This is dangerous to patients. God be with you.

I thought I would hop around and visit my old freinds when I came to your site. I am so heartfully sorry for your huge loss. If words could comfort than I hope I can find some. Just know that she is not suffering now only you are. Her pain is gone and she is there with you in everything you do and say. Her spirit will never be gone and I'm sure she is hoping your sadness is lightened. I have gone through many passings in the last couple of years and I view if differenly now that I have been so exposed to losing loved ones. It is hard to find a silver lining while losing your life partner. I can't even pretend to know how that really feels.

As far as hospitals are concerned, they were killing people (by mistake) before Obama got on the scene. A hospital is the most scarey place to me. I could tell you some horror stories but I'm sure that is not what you want to hear. You have been through so much my friend. Yours was the first hub that I ever read and I was so taken by the story of your grandson that I decided to become part of the hubber family. It sometimes makes one feel better to write and there are no real judgements here. Keep writing because so many people are inspired by you. I do know a couple of lawyers whom I will speak of your case to. No promises just good thoughts and may God make your spirit lighter. Stay strong my friend, we are all here for you.

After hearing everything that happened, I know what you mean by this post. The whole point of Obamacare is to cut costs and with everything you've talked about while going through. They really didn't lift a finger so to speak to prevent much.

I think they probably could have done a lot more than what they did.. Did ObamaCare have something to do with it? Most likely. If your state has it in effect don't count on getting much help. This is just one of the reasons so many are fighting it.

Now, coulda woulda don't help much either. Either way we look at it. Christ decided its time for her to come Home. There is no better place than our home my friend.

As far as Obamacare is concerned, Yeah Wake Up America. Stop being lazy and sit down and read it. After all it's about you and your families lives, Literally. There are many things in that bill that literally has nothing to do with Healthcare. And cutting costs cause you or your loved ones simply don't deserve it in the eyes of a computer program. If this don't concern you or make you think, Well? It should. Of course to read the bill. It's thicker than my Bible so you will need time to read it.

May God bless you my friend. You are in my prayers daily.

I am sorry for your loss. I understand what you mean. My family had a similar loss experience with a loved one in a nursing home.

You are right, we have a problem in this country as far as health care is concerned, but I think that what is wrong is using it as profit making, instead of a way of having healthy members of the society...

It all comes down to "if they would have tried" Maybe they could have saved her life, but it has been determined that nurses records were less than adequate and that it took them 3 hours from distress to try remedial actions.

If there were attempts, I would not be so angry.

My heart aches for your loss and the ongoing stress you are under and I can see why you feel embittered.

Although I have no way of knowing if medical incompetence or neglect contributed to your wife's death, I do know that sepsis, as G-Ma Johnson has stated, is a very serious life-threatening diagnosis that many do not survive, even despite valiant attempts to save them.

My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family at this difficult time.
