How Did We Get To This Point?

Updated on July 20, 2015

Been A Long While...

Yes it has been a while since The Frog Prince penned an article about anything but when I came upon the graphic above I was struck by how such a nation of people who supposedly value their liberty and freedom have arrived at this point in history. Now a devout liberal will profess that I am mistaken because they see only their truth as the "real" truth and a far right conservative sees it the other way. I'm somewhere in the middle of that morass so I ignore the fringes and give things a logical thought.

I was once an avid political writer then realized that the dumbed down among us, and there are many, wouldn't get it unless there was a goodie attached to it. That's pathetic but sadly true. Our culture has devolved into the "what's in it for me" society of all selfish societies in historical record. We're making the Roman's look like choir boys. So I saw the graphic, looked at recent headlines and subject matter and viola! I connected a few dots about one of the main reasons we landed on this precipice we are teetering on.

Folks if we don't pull ourselves up by our boot straps soon we are doomed. Don't expect the idiots you keep electing to do the right thing and represent you because it ain't gonna happen. We, the People have solidly become They, Themselves in their twisted minds.

Which leads to the next group needing attention or maybe this group needs to start paying attention.

The average citizen, or maybe non-citizen anymore, seems to be fed mushy, gushy spin by the Main Stream Media which I affectionately refer to as the Lame Stream Media (LSM). That media seems to report mush in an attempt to protect us from ourselves. If it isn't that then we really need to be wary because they have become no more than the mouthpiece for Big Brother. I grew up in the era where news was reported and not the people reporting the news becoming the news itself. Brian Williams and several others come to mind.

Now I do understand that Joe and Jane Tent Peg are slaving away to make ends meet, put a roof over heads and chow on the table and in the cupboards. I get that. But I also get that this Cartel in Washington DC is selling us on a reality that isn't close to reality. There is no free lunch. The middle class is but a sliver of what it used to be say but just a decade ago. I wonder how that average taxpayer feels about being raped by the elites in our nation's Capitol who can't even balance a budget like the rest of us are expected to do?

I wonder how many Tent Peggers get the fact that our unemployment rate isn't near being what this administration smoke and mirrors it to be. Do they even care until it is their jobs that are being scarfed up? That my fellow citizens is sheer stupidity. So as I was connecting dots I came across something you may not read anywhere but in a few select, honest places. Definitely not going to get this tidbit on the nightly news. This is right out of the May jobs report. The dots fall into place easily if one lets them.

Do you know anyone, maybe even you, who is unemployed, under employed or has completely given up on seeking gainful employment in their field of endeavor? The Labor Participation Rate is the worst it has ever been - through the roof type figures. If you ever wonder if the Bureau of Labor Statistics job's numbers are on the suspect side during Benedict Barry's reign then you might be savable. They are thoroughly upside down. Don't expect honesty from that segment of the Cartel for sure.

Inside those May numbers was a shocker about "who" was landing any jobs if there are any jobs to be had. The Zero Hedge into the numbers for the answer and it was? "Foreign born workers are landing most of the jobs."

Okay the average low information type might ask what's the big deal. I'll put it in quotes for you:

"But the biggest surprise came from Table 7, where the BLS reveals the number of “foreign born workers” used in the Household survey. In May, this number increased to 25.098 million, the second highest in history, a monthly jump of 279K.

Assuming, the Household and Establishment surveys were congruent, this would mean that there was just 1K native-born workers added in May of the total 280K jobs added.

Alternatively, assuming the series, which is not seasonally adjusted, was indicative of seasonally adjusted data, then the 272K increase in total Household Survey civilian employment in May would imply a decline of 7K native-born workers offset by the increase of 279K “foreign borns.”

But while all of these comparisons are apples to oranges, using the BLS’ own Native-Born series, also presented on an unadjusted basis, we find the following stunner: since the start of the Second Great Depression, the US has added 2.3 million “foreign-born” workers, offset by just 727K “native-born.”

Now to the point which doesn't fit the graphic below.

The Lame Stream Media has continually been on the deceiving the public path and giving them a feel gooder along the way. Most of us, maybe, can take the truth without a lot of sugar coating needed. Many prefer it that way. You know what else you'll never hear from the lies being reported by fabricators? When the BLS dispenses their sugar to the LSM they leave out one critical fact. "Foreign born" category workers includes both legal and illegal immigrants. The BLS either intentionally omits or is unwillingly to differentiate between the two.

Ah yes the smoke and mirrors of our DC Cartel. 75% of the jobs are going NOT to native born citizens of this nation but to others. What is the result? Wages are kept low and Obama's "economic recovery" is a farce and an illusion. It's numbers massaging at its finest. So what about these American workers and their children and their children's children? So go back now and read my headline one more time now.

The answer is we are doing it to ourselves by not paying attention. The price of doing so will be steep. More dots should come to mind regarding current events and topics now. If they don't one truly is a low information citizen and needs to avoid the voting booth.

As Always,

The Frog Prince

The worry of being laughed at for being an individual with your own viewpoints and ideas is just to great now. We are becoming a land obsessed with what others think of us. Yet you are a hero if you are transgender and a rusty old bigot if you are conservative. Tolerance now means to accept outer vogue fringes but not your own grandfather. Seems a bit like the cart before the horse.

In the 1970's I was a long term unemployed person who had a problem getting re established. I find it sad that so many are throwing away the opportunities that they might have had, by expecting someone else to take care of them. We have the kind of leadership we have now because the people were simply not paying attention. When our p[resident ran for office it was clear that his intentions were not to restore our nation to it's best days. Rather he wanted to turn it into a socialist republic of some sort. Folks voted for the glitter, not the substance.

If our leader has in his mind the thought of leaving a legacy of dumbed-down citizens in his wake, he has achieved his dream. Every day our nation is less like the powerful, respected country we used to be.

Nice to see you here, Jim, reminding us.

There are loads of ways to "not pay attention" and people have used all of them! Those who used their valuable votes to help bring things to this point are going to get more than they bargained for if it's too late to reverse what we face. I hope we won't have to "hold our noses" to try to vote for change and that we will have the opportunity to vote for the best choice(s). Efforts to divide the USA into 2 classes have come a long way. Discussions continue to be important...

I don't see our present situation changing anytime soon. It seems with each upcoming election, Americans are given fewer and fewer choices. No matter who goes into office, we're screwed. We are no longer the Land of the Free. Unless, of course, you're here illegally or make a living by having multiple children in order to live off governmental handouts.

Your words should shake the sleepers in this country. I see only a shadow of what America represented to the people a decade ago. I feel our votes are worthless at this point under the present administration. Yet, I will continue to do so ... Vote for the people I believe will make a positive change for us. My hope for this is slim. Great writing and should be on the TV news highlights!

Jim, first off, it is great to know you are still with us and are writing again.

I believe the low information types are now the majority. Most of the younger people I know have no interest in or knowledge of current events. It is frightening to know that some of them actually vote.

I read today where the cost for healthcare will triple by the end of 2016. That is when we taxpayers will quit covering the losses of the insurance companies. Most of those affected by this will not know anything about it until they get their bill for medical coverage. But they would trade their vote for a free cell phone in a heartbeat.
