I think it is a bad idea to legalize Marijuana

Updated on June 25, 2011

Think before you vote!

Marijuana is a gateway drug.

I believe it is a huge mistake to legalize marijuana anywhere in America, whether it is for medicinal or recreational use it makes no difference, marijuana is a class 1 federal narcotic in the same class as LSD and is a known gateway drug that has a huge potential to lead to use of other narcotics, such as cocaine or methamphetamine - not to mention that smoking it can cause serious health problems from lung cancer etc.

In fact it is illegal to possess marijuana anywhere in America according to Federal Law and I hope it stays that way.

I know I am gonna hear from people who advocate the use of medicinal marijuana in the states it is legal in ,under state laws, but myself I am against it 100%,even for medicinal use and I will tell you why, there is simply not enough scientific evidence that medicinal marijuana helps at all.

Until it is approved by the FDA and properly regulated nationally I will be against it.

I need 20 people to help me reach my dream.

Thanks Manthy. Finally someone with a topic/article on marijuana that actually make sense. People need to think. If marijuana was legalized the death rates would be higher, due to driving under the infuence of it, and life insurances would reap the benefits.

I agree here, I don't think it should be made legal at all. Unless you have a prescription from your doctor for using it. There are many people who not only handle there daily pains with the use of this drug but even handle people in there everyday lives better too. Having worked in the medical field, and seen friends & loved one's been pulled down the wrong roads with these situations. Believe me, I do not want to see it legalized one bit either. Yet, my compassionate side just will not allow for the suffering either. Very hard issue here, with many complex points of view too. Being Native American as I am, does put a whole other spin on things as well. I voted you up here, and useful. I wish that more people had your courage here to bring up this very important subject. To our country and it's people's. Thank you.

Well, I kind of agree with you. I don't think it should be legalized. But, I think it should be de-criminalized just like the oregano, basil and garlic powder I use in my kitchen.

No I don't think it would be a bong fest pink - I just think that marijuana shouldn't be legalized, it will only lead people into using other illegal drugs & higher crime rates etc.

    Thanks for the comment

well, that is the point of legalization. to be properly regulated nationally. what did you think it would be, some huge bong fest? i dont smoke pot, i am not for its use, but what do i care? There are enough people out there abusing alchohol and dying or killing others, whats the difference?
