If The Prison Like a Hotel
If you have read my hub about The Most Luxurious Prison in the World, this time I’ll share about another prison which has the same style. I thought the prison in Norway is the most luxurious prison in the world, but I am totally wrong. Because there is another prison which is like a hotel and it has the same luxurious with the prison in Norway. If you visit my hub about the luxurious prison in Norway, We can see a lot comment over there. Some people said that prison is a prison, regardless how beautiful and luxurious this prison. Even this prison is beautiful and complete with luxurious facilities, but the inmates still locked inside the prison. They will spent their day and pass over for days, weeks, months, and even years...it doesn’t matter how nice it is...it’s still jail.
In other hand, another opinion said that why we don’t give their second chance, most of people said that they don’t deserve a second chance although it has positive purpose, like to educated them. From many sources I read around the internet, kind of this prison has another goal as the rehabilitation center. They train the inmates with good education and dig their special skill with various training program. Whatever we do to make prisons more effective will be well worth the cost. Of course, we all agree that kind of this prison spend a lot of money. Other opinion said that prisons should be humane environments though they have a big mistake but they still a human, they have rights to life. But there is a big question, how about the inmates who have killed someone or even more. Do they deserve these facilities? Did they given a second chance? I can’t answer this question. All the answer is depend on the judge in the court. Maybe some of us thought that they have tough and work over 60 hours in a week than spend the time to watching TV, lifting weights, and sitting around the yard. We may never forgive them, if you are criminal and will be a criminal for the rest of your life.
When people commit crime, they need to know their rights will be lost as the consequence of their actions. They have commit to make a changes during they spend their time in the prison, so they will not end up in prison again. Kind of punishment they get will depend on their mistake in front of the judge. Do they have a plan to correct their behavior? It back to them. How they spend their time in prison with positive activity and they really want to change their bad behavior.
A little about Justice Center Leoben
Let’s back to the topic. This time I want to share about other luxurious prison. That’s why I choose this title. Justice Center Leoben is like a hotel. We will not find a dirty prison, haunted and inhuman in this place. This prison was located in Steiemark, Austria. Personally, the first time I saw the picture of this prison I say WOW. Unbelievable, there’s a prison like this. Justice Center Leoben is not only as a prison, but this place also operated as a court. So this place is a court and prison complex. Justice Center Leoben was designed by Josef Hohensinn, which was completed in November 2004. With 205 inmates, this prison was already fully charged. Josef said that, “this all not about the money, if we talk luxurious. But How to make buildings as the most comfortable place to live”. I thought this is an architect's idealism.
Josef Hohensinn made the design of this prison with high layout concept that meets the highest standards of Austria. He also made this prison with the purpose all the inmates free to move in every cell and they can get fresh air. There is beautiful yard inside this prison complete with the winding concrete as a place to sit, it looks artistic and green. Josef also placed colorful sofa as a great interior element. So inmates can relax while enjoying the view from behind a glass window. From outside we can see that this prison was built with lots of glass.
We can see these two quotes around the prison. The first quote is "all human were born free and equal in dignity and rights". The second quotes is "every person deprived of liberty, should be treated with humanity and inherent dignity of the human being must be treated honorably". The two sentences are taken from international treaties on civil and political rights. Maybe these quotes as the reason why this prison was built.
