Illegal Immigrant

Updated on January 8, 2010

Illegal Immigrant in the United States

Illegal immigrant continues to become a major issue in United States. According to the Heritage Foundation, More than ten million of undocumented aliens currently reside in the U.S., and that population is growing by 700,000 per year. There are various problems that are being created, such as loss in employment for U.S. residents, loss in tax revenue, import of diseases, and security concern because of illegal immigrants entering in this country.

One of the biggest problems that we face on account of illegal immigrants is unemployment. People who is living in this country as illegal performs most of lower class jobs at a much cheaper rate that will normally be unacceptable for general American people. As a result the illegal immigrants are in great demand by employers who are looking for cheap labor in construction, agriculture, building maintenance and other fields.

Other problem is loss in tax revenue. Illegal immigrants do not pay tax since they do not have legal paper and most of time works on cash pay under table and government end up losing billions of dollars of that tax money.

Illegal immigrants from several other countries usually do not have proper vaccination and when these people come in this country, which increases the chance of bringing new diseases with them. Analysis of data from the U.S. National Notifiable Diseases Surveillance System shows risks for certain food borne, waterborne, and vaccine-preventable diseases in U.S. counties within 100 kilometers of the border are much greater compared with non-border State.

The other concern is security of this country; three out of hundred people in America are undocumented or have forged and faked papers, there is a profound security problem. Even though statistics shows that most of criminals are not illegal immigrants, it is not that hard for terrorists to enter across our borders and engage in terrorist attacks against America. Some illegal aliens in the United States have been arrested and incarcerated in federal and state prisons and local jails.

To address this concern, U.S. congress should make tougher law that would make harder to enter illegal immigrants in this country. We need to increase more security on most vulnerable land and coastal borders, since most of illegal immigrants enter in this country through this route. Enforce severe punishment to immigration officer or border patrol whoever violates this policy and let them enter in this country illegally in exchange of money and other personal benefits.

Track and target the business that tends to hire these people and run occasionally sting operation and impose severe fine to employer if caught with wrong doing. Government should require all employers to electronically verify new employee to prove identity and work eligibility before hiring.

Introduce a system similar to guest worker program that will allow illegal immigrants to register in this program to convert their status in legal status temporarily and gives them opportunity to apply for green card option if they meet all the criteria. This program will encourage them to register in this program and data collected through this method can be used for security purpose to track illegal activity and other dangerous act and will be great help for legal enforcement officer. This program will also allow collecting billions of dollars of lost tax revenue.

Illegal immigrant problem is becoming major issue especially million of illegally immigrants is entering in this country though Mexico border and coastal border and it must be stopped in order to continue for prosperity in America.

If the Americans are ready to take up the low- paying jobs, then the illegal immigrants will not even think of coming to the US. Their main aim in entering illegally is to work in the US and the employers are also very happy in spending a very little on wages. This will help reduce the unemployment and illegal immigration problem greatly.

..and cut the roots that support them.illegal immigrants have always been a burden to the taxpayer, but a bigger pocket benefits from them.unless you prune the roots, their number would never go down.

make America unpleasing to the illegal immigrants...maybe,just maybe, they'd decide to leave. But would the big people want that?
