What is the meaning of Meghalaya.

Megha means Hills,Alaya means place. So Meghalaya means a place in the Hills, meaning the State which is having a place so high in India over and around hills. The State is taken out of Assam and was in constant rotation from one state to another from British Raj to Indian politics till the peoples demand for a separate state was made in the year 1972.The state is also home to many Nepalese people who have come for a change from the rulers of their country,in fact there are many scattered all over India. This State is having 2 members of Lok sabha and 1 member of Raj Sabha. How they allot the number of seats to states and union territories is simply by the total elective membership which is distributed among the States in such a way that the ratio between the number of seats allotted to each State and the population of the State is, so far as practicable, is the same for all States. This number is divided among the 28 States and the 7 Union Territories.More the population of voters more is the number of MP's to that state. Its all mixed and copied for our suitability from other countries at the time of writing of the constitution by our people who made it suitable to our country. The National Party's want this number to be maximum to Rule the Country or the State.

The National & Local Party's of Meghalaya are:-

1 ) INC (Indian National Congress)

2 ) NCP (Nationalist Congress Party)

3 ) UDP (United Democratic Party)

4 ) HSPDP (Hill State Peoples Democratic Party )

5 ) BJP (Bharatiya Janata Party)

6 ) KHNAM (Khun Hynniewtrep National Awakening Movement)

7 ) ND (Independent)

The above 7 party's stood for election and 28 seats of MLA's went to INC out of 60.To Rule the State INC needed 31 for a majority so they get as many MLA's as possible by offering them ministerial berths or money and form the Govt to Rule or Ruin the State. The best method is to catch the independent members, there are 5 independents and so they are easy to get. However the independents do not get a chance here as few NLC and UDP have agreed to join to enable INC to rule the state.
INC also Rules the Country the same way as this state.
