Is It Too Late For An Epiphany ??

Updated on July 15, 2015

A Re-Reminder For Myself and My Nation

Is it too late for an epiphany ?? Is it too late to see what our apathy has wrought? Is there time to prevent the once mighty United States from whimpering willingly into Third World status. Is it to late to understand that our indifferent, self-indulgent government, is but the shameful shadow of what we've let ourselves become.

Is it too late for an epiphany ? Is it too late to admit that for decades we've squandered our unique freedoms, entertaining ourselves into numb vacuity. Is there a chance we'll ever again be able to comprehend that our true calling is to respectful manhood,and reputable womanhood, not resigned victim-hood.

Is it too late for an epiphany ?? Can we really continue to be "casual residents" of the most magnificent nation in world history? Do we even think about that.? Can we really believe "freedom" is forever"? Has our citizenship become so cheap that it should be a gift ?

Is it too late for an epiphany ? Are we still foolish enough to not recognize that we've become so soft in our prosperity that we now regard comfort as a human right ? Is our pride so blunted that we'll accept that life cannot be lived without the omniscient patriarchs in Washington DC?. Why does our liberty disgust us ?

Is it too late for an epiphany ? Is it possible we'll always live dual lives of spineless irresponsibility and callous self-entitlement ? Can we seriously continue to not be appalled at our own reflections.

Is it too late for an epiphany ? Will we ever cease equating celebrity with authority ? Can we continue to believe that "fairness" supersedes "right" and "wrong'? Will we ever let "right" and "wrong" be our authority ?

Is it too late for an epiphany ? Will we continue to support cultural elites who champion all aberrant delusion as freedom yet claim offense at the mention of tradition, morality or GOD ? Can we still claim to be concerned with the "Truth" while conducting commerce and governance with situational ethics ?

Is it too late for an epiphany ? Are we still even capable of knowing we need an epiphany ?

Sadly, many of us, despite our epiphany have become frustrated and just given up !!

Even worse, how many of us are avoiding our epiphany because it means we'd have to actually dip our comfortable little toes into reality ?

We no longer have the time to say we don't have time for an epiphany !!!

The United States was born of frustration, hardships,struggles; and yes,of an epiphany !! Redeeming her will require the same !! Though the battle this time is not conducted with "weapons of war", the fight is the same.

There's still time. It's not to late. Not yet !! Not yet !!

      Good hub, UH...voted up and answer your question...I think the epiphany will come in an ugly way, too late. But that's me.

      America, where the ignorant are proud, self-absorption is fashionable and epiphanies come from Fox News . . . or Survivor. ;-}

      Ulgy Honest, you're a freaking genius, so I know you know the answer. But I've got to tell you, you caught me with this one: "We no longer have the time to say we don't have time for an epiphany !!!" That really is the best summary of the American dilemma that I've seen.
