Islam and Muslims Must Decide About Jihad

The Muslim religion is rooted in scriptures written long ago in another time. Who knows what the truth really is. People choose to believe passages to support their own beliefs and customs acted upon. That is why ISIS will claim that the Quran indicates slavery is fine for infidels or those non-believers. Thus, they conquer areas and enslave those and either kill them (because they say the Quran approves of this) or rape the women then sell them. The Quran, like the Bible, has contradictory teachings or sayings that extremists can bend to fit their own agenda and feel good about.

Many Muslim nations mix politics and law with religious beliefs and customs, thus, they have ridiculous laws in Saudi Arabia stating women cannot drive, cannot walk outside the home without a man who is related to them, cannot hold certain kinds of jobs, or cannot be together with a group of men alone. Woe unto a woman in a Muslim world. Religion dictates many laws.

The Muslim Supreme Council who issue fatwas, or instructions about interpreting the Quran, should conduct a review of the Quran for the 21st Century, not just continue enforcing antiquated teachings or instructions like those mentioned and many others. This group of old men are so far removed from the modern world it would be a "miracle" if this was actually done, but, the group would issue modern fatwas for today's Muslim nations. For instance, slavery of any kind-not allowed for any reason, relax women's dress codes, remove restrictions of mixing men and women at schools or treating in hospitals. Much of the Quran is anti-woman probably because it was written by men who wanted to keep women suppressed. I mean, you know this is the case when a law forbids a women from simply driving a car. There were no cars when the Quran was written, so you know, this law was made up to control the female population in some countries.

Second, Muslims around the world should be marching in mass demonstrations against the Jihad, denouncing the al-Qaeda, Islamic State, Boko Haram. But, they are not? Why? Because they are afraid for personal safety and many silently agree with the murders to satisfy their personal grievances in Western society. These Muslims like aspects of Western society but also think it is disgusting in some ways. They exist in the USA, France, Germany and elsewhere. Some feel the jihad is just and mandated by the Quran, to slay the infidels and non-believers.

The extremists are giving Islam a very bad rap and the millions of good Muslims are simply allowing it to happen by not showing the world their anger. The religious leaders are too afraid to modernize the the teachings of the Quran thought as being holy. Such fools.

Agreed. Thanks, but that will never happen.

By complying with the terrorists demands, they only encourage more such atrocities. The proper course of action would be to present a united front by running the cartoons on the front page of every newspaper in the country where they belong...as the central part of a major new story. This might not stop future terrorist attacks altogether, but it would put the terrorists on notice that the resolve of the West only grows stronger when we're attacked.

I agree. The PC thing is just bordering on silliness and just BS. God forbid we tell what they really are-it is already in everyone's mind. We are so afraid to offend even killers. Crazy.

Exactly. Here are but two examples: CNN's Christine Amanpour described the brothers who murdered 12 at the Charlie Hebdo offices in the name of their religion as "activists" instead of what they are; coldblooded Islamist terrorists.

Second example: A woman, Sigolène Vinson, who happened to be in the Charlie Hebdo offices when the terrorists entered was quoted in the French media as saying that one of the terrorists said to her, “I’m not going to kill you because you’re a woman, we don’t kill women, but you must convert to Islam, read the Quran and cover yourself.” This quote was heard and repeated in several news media, including the NY Times. But later, the Times scrubbed the quote, to render it this way:

“Don’t be afraid, calm down, I won’t kill you,” the gunman told her in a steady voice, with a calm look in his eyes, she recalled. “You are a woman. But think about what you’re doing. It’s not right.”

Add to this, the fact that the vast majority of American news media will not run the "offending" cartoons even though they are part and parcel of the story! Michelle Malkin wrote a piece about this in greater detail here: http://goo.gl/kWMgGN

How is American media complicit? By being too politically correct? cite an example.

Also complicit are the majority of the American media for their lies by commission and omission and for their excuse-making.

I agree, East versus West. The Muslims who do not speak loudly against this terror in large demonstrations make them complicit in the act. Pathetic.

I think they have already decided...which is why the problem is growing by leaps and bounds instead of receding.
