It's Time for the BBB Awards
The BBB Award
Good Morning Breakfastpoppers. Today is Thursday, March 27, 2014. Our dear friend Buzzy, the Proverbial Fly on the Wall, is hosting another presentation of the coveted BBB Awards. Please join us this morning. We haven't invited a single "winner" to the theater, so you can rest easy and enjoy the company of good friends while sipping a fabulous Bloody Mary. Let's head for the show!
And So It Begins...
Welcome, dear friends. Let's begin the morning by presenting our first award to Dept. of Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius. When asked by the House Ways and Means committee chairman Rep. Dave Camp and subcommittee chairman Rep. Kevin Brady how many people have actually paid their premiums for Obamacare, Kathleen Sebilius said that the administration is not keeping track. Now, now, Ms. Sebilius, it isn't nice to lie to Congress. The committee obtained some compelling evidence that says that the administration knows exactly how many people have paid up. Perhaps this is a number you and your felllow Obamacare supporters would like to forget!
Moving right along, let's present Obama's senior advisor, Valerie Jarrett, with a BBB Award. Ms. Jarrett has also been caught in a lie. Ms. Jarrett appeared on the Los Angeles CBS affiliate and told everyone that Obamacare has not affected healthcare premiums. Yikes! Now that was a whopper. Could all those people who are living through sticker shock be confused or mistaken? Harry Reid thinks so, but I do not!
Are we having fun yet? I hope so, because things are going to get kicked up a notch. The third BBB Award of the morning has Sen. Harry Reid's name plastered all over it. It has been reported that old Harry's campaign money was used to purchase presents for his supporters. Actually, Harry gave his granddaughter about 16 thousand "smackaroos". She owns a jewelry business in Berkeley, Califiornia. Harry's granddaughter used the money, the campaign money, to purchase the gifts. Harry has generously decided to return the money to the campaign coffers. If he were anyone else, he would be going to jail!
This next award makes me laugh. Employees at South Puget Sound Community College invited 300 staffers to an event that was billed as a "happy hour" to build support and community " for people of color. The invitation made it extremely clear that white people were not invited! Ooh, that hurts, despite the obvious fact that I'm neither white or human. I guess the idea of promoting honest discussion among people of diverse backgrounds is to be discouraged. In any event, the Dean cancelled the event and apologized.
The next award is troubling on so many levels. A 9 year-old girl who attends the Caprock Academy, Colorado charter school in Grand Junction was banned from attending school because she shaved her head in support of a friend suffering from cancer. The school felt that her shaved head was a distraction to a learning environment. This brave young student should have been celebrated for her compassion. The fact that the school did not view things in quite this way speaks volumes about a school administration that can't think their way out of a paper bag! The school board voted to allow the courageous student to return to school. Do you really want school personnel capable of making such a hideous blunder teaching your kids. I would hope not.
We are going to close the show with this last award presented to some students who attend American University in Washington, D.C. who are majoring in political science. They were asked to name just one current senator. Most of the students were completely stumped. Welcome to the next generation of politicians and political pundits. They will fit right in judging by today's standards.
I hope you all enjoyed the show. Until we meet again....
Fy me to the moon
And let me lie where I am free
Things are so ugly right now
We may all be up a tree!
