Jack Vettriano

Jack Vettriano is a famous artist who was born in Scotland in 1953 to Italian parents. He started his career working as a mining engineer in the Scottish coalfields, only painting in his free time.

In 1988 Vettriano had a breakout year and every year since, he has kept working and has become better known. Jack Vettriano's studies are in Scotland and London. You can find his work at the Portland Gallery, London. Some of his well known collectors are Jack Nicholson and Terrence Conran.

More about Jack Vettriano And His Art

The popularity of Britain’s self-taught Jack Vettriano earned him the nickname “The People’s Painter.” Originally from a Scottish town where he planned to work as an engineer, Vettriano fell in love with art. In creating his art, he listens to music that makes him feel uncomfortable to create a mood that fuels his edgy, mysterious creations. Vettriano’s sales broke a record at Sotheby’s, and he has outsold Dali, Van Gogh and Monet.
