Julian Assange friend of foe

Julian Assange; friend or foe?

Julian Assange; Friend or Foe?

December 10, 2010

We have heard so much lately about the founder of WikiLeaks, Julian Assange.
I am a firm believer that a government, its people and the organizations under them ought to be open and honest.
Julian Assange is a man with a mark on his head because he is showing the world what evil certain governments have done and the lies which they tell. He is a man who is being framed for his openness and his honesty.
The question which I pose to all of you is this; why is the focus on him? Why is the focus not on who it ought to be, the governments and those who leaked the documents. Mr. Assange is only the vehicle used to send out these documents through WikiLeaks.
Let’s put this into perspective. If WikiLeaks were to only have leaked information on Iran or North Korea, or really any other country, the United States would have been in support of it and probably downloaded the information themselves and used it for their purpose.  The United States is indeed run by hypocrites, they have spy satellites which they use to spy on countries, they wiretap and listen in on civilians, they spy and track peoples emails and internet usage, they have weapons of mass destruction but deny other nations the same, I could go on and on. But the leaks of information by WikiLeaks about them, they call illegal, which it is not.  As Mr. Assange is not an American and the company is not in the US. But the United States’ actions against WikiLeaks and Mr. Assange are illegal, shutting down their server is an illegal act, shutting down their pay systems is illegal, and so on. Like I said, Hypocrites.
If the US Gov. for instance, did not say all those nasty things about their so-called allies and the ones they call friends then there would not have been a leak on this issue, and the US would not have been embarrassed; but in my opinion good came out of it. Now the world knows that the US government is nothing but a government of Hypocrites who are two-faced, a Government which pretends to be your friend but in reality makes fun of you and thinks you are their puppets.
We also know that the US military will kill anyone they want, civilian or not, this is wrong and the world needs to know it. Just as the world knows now that the US lead terror attacks on Afghanistan and Iraq were just that, acts of terror.
There are thousands of other leaks which were sent out which one can download, or order and read.
So, back to where the blame ought to be placed. The blame for these leaks lies first on the government and then on the person or people who send them out.
I hope that this does not stop, I hope for more leaks as this will hopefully shine a light on the evil done and hold these governments and its politicians accountable.
I also hope and pray for the release of a framed and falsely accused man; Julian Assange.
I will also say that my hope is that the world will not blindly align themselves with the US, but instead tread carefully and cautiously.
Some say that these leaks will have a negative effect on the US, but that is a lie, there will be fallout, but it will not endanger the US. The only danger is that it is revealing the truth about them; do these people really think that they can do or say these things and get away with it or have no repercussions? Ridiculous, a self-righteous and arrogant attitude. But so be it.
Also, lastly I hope that if any other country does wrong (Including my government) that WikiLeaks would leak it.
So is Mr. Assange friend or foe, I believe he is a friend, a friend framed by the US. in an attempt to discredit him and shut down his truth revealing organization.  But that is my opinion.

Never would have thought of this guy as a friend but you have laid out some good arguments. I am going to rethink my opinion on this whole situation now!
