Keeping Things In "Context"

Updated on July 28, 2012

Dot Connecting Is An Art

This is turning into the most pathetic Presidential campaign I have ever witnessed and in the 40 years I've been watching I've seen a few. Those I refer to as the Lame Stream Media have done a wonderful job of protecting Obama's incompetence since he assumed office. What I think they rely on is the short attention span of the average American as we struggle to keep up with the daily task of living while putting up with the consistent incompetence of the past three plus years since a superb con man appeared selling hope and change to people already weary of too much government being shoved down our gullets.

The media apologists are hard at work spinning his latest statements and claiming that their skilled orator is being taken out of context once again. Only they are wise enough to understand "what he really meant" and the rest of us unclean, government subjects just don't understand his eloquence which is usually delivered in a snarky manner. I once dubbed Obama as "Snarky Smirksalot" and lately he has been working on regaining that title. His totally outlandish claims about how effective his failed policies have been seem to be reaching a crescendo, but I'm sure he has some outrageous oratory left inside of him for future display.

His Biggest Mistake Was What?

Connecting dots about Obama takes patience. The ones I'm about to connect are recent blips and I'll keep them as much "in context" as I can when he said them. The Charlie Rose interview on ABC was revealing on a number of points. Lets refer to Obama and "story telling" which he contends he hasn't been good enough at. I disagree. Obama has told more outright stories, many call them lies, to convince not only himself but way too many people that he had, has and will have the answers if We, the People just give him another chance. According to him his biggest mistake was putting policy over story telling. You can spin things all you want about a failed policy and in the end the result will be the same. You'll have a failure on your hands. That is a lesson evidently Obama has failed to learn nor do I see him learning it. He is all about excuses.

During that same interview Obama let a little honesty slip out. Sometimes that happens when the teleprompter isn't speaking and he is. Next dot to connect is what he said to Charlie concerning his record, his failed record, on fixing the economy. That is something he told us all that he has the knowledge of economics to do, while at the same time admitting he knows nothing about the subject. I'd rehash the clip now where he talked about being "a one term proposition" if he didn't but most people have seen it. So here's what he said about how he'd approach his opponent based upon what we see surrounding him. Take a listen.

Lets Look At Your Record And He Did...

Obama is pretty slippery as most snake oil salesmen are. He can tell a "story." The fact is that this economy is now the "Obama economy." It isn't Bush's fault. It's Obama's failed policies that exacerbated an already bad situation. So Rose laid out the argument about the economy and this is how Obama responded, at that time anyway, “Exactly. That is his argument and you don’t hear me complaining about making that argument because if I was in his shoes I’d be making the same argument.” There are a lot of shoes involved in having to understand that Obama isn't qualified, nor has the experience, to run this nation. He can run it but right into the ground isn't what most of us had in mind.

What I heard in that exchange was the context that Obama admitted that his policies have failed and he didn't do what he said he was going to do. Therefore in the future when it is pointed out to him that his policies have failed they should expect him to say, "Exactly." That is exactly what he said in the context he said it in, nothing more and nothing less.

If You Ever Had It...

So then after a brief interlude where Obama told the nation that the "private sector is doing fine" which he immediately had to start walking back saying that isn't what he meant, blah, blah, blah... Next dot up was the "If you've got a business, you didn't do that. Somebody else made that happen." These dots are starting to look like a Rorschach blot aren't they? We again got the "out of context" tap dance and have been getting it for a couple of weeks now from the very same people who explain to us that Obama is coherent, intelligent and a master at speaking. Really? What keeps coming through to me is his condescending arrogance actually.

I've read so many "out of context" explanations from the left since he stated what he really means and they want to put entirely different words in his mouth. What he said seems totally in context and exactly what he said. These are "off teleprompter moments" and what one really needs to listen for. When the screen goes off what he really thinks rolls out, even if it is just "story time."

So lets just add insult to injury after that gaffe, which wasn't a gaffe at all, and roll out the most absurd contention he can possibly make in an attempt at completing a coherent picture. Now keep in mind when you watch the video here that you can only hear the background noise of the crowd he is addressing. This just occurred in Oakland, California. He is hardly looking, nor acting presidential, with the diatribe and outright fairy tale he is selling. More snake oil for the adoring masses. Do they pay people to attend these rallies he conducts? It would never be enough to get me to attend one however much it is.

It worked? When?

All the previous dots I mentioned above don't add up to this last dot on the blot. Employment remains at over 8% even though his stimulus policy was a failure at doing what he told the nation it would do. That cost us about a trillion and he wants to do it again. It is estimated that there are between 15-24 million eligible workers in this nation who are chronically unemployed or under employed. He has added over 5 trillion dollars to the national debt which he told us he was going to cut in half by the end of his first term. How does Obama measure success? Go back to the Rose interview above and then try to rationalize what he said about his plan working?

Let me note here that the latest spin correction was that Obama was talking about the Clinton policies while speaking in Oakland. Seems odd that his success was achieved, if that is Obama's definition, with a Republican Congress which Clinton was able to work with. Looking back at the transcript of that speech I can't see the parallel at all. He was talking about himself again, not Bill Clinton.

And that's why he's running for another term? Any more "working" like what he has destroyed so far will be the death of our Republic. I will now close with this video from the beginning of 2009. You made your case and you failed Obama. It's now time to man up and accept both responsibility and accountability. It worked your butt...

As Always,

The Frog Prince

An Interview That Needs To Not Happen Again.

Obama was telling 'stories' back in 08 and many people were caught up by these 'stories'. Let's hope they come to their senses after a dismal 4 yours. Obama's plans won't help America get out of recession, they will help keep it there. Good hub.

Obama is not even in the same class with skilled orators. When was the last time he wrote a speech and delivered it. Anyone can read a speech someone else wrote off a teleprompter. Obama's "story-telling" fits the mold of what so many, especially on the left, "expect to hear", "wish it was like that, "pretend that it is like that" mindset desires. If he had any propensity for the truth he would cite the failed actions of Frank and Dodd back in Clinton's time and the actions of an all Democrat Congress in the las two years of Bush's last term. Those are only facts and in his interest...better overlooked for they do not paint the picture that so many wish to see. There is nothing on his plate that bodes well for the future...nothing which will change America or the world for the better. There is plenty for the worse though and he intends to employ every last morsel of it with the help of his socialist, Marxist, and communist operatives. Uncle George Soros will be so proud of what his money has bought and so amazed that he finally found a snakeoil salesman without one strand of moral concern for the people of this nation. The media's job is to point out and continue to point out the parts of the puzzle that do not fit when the story is told...not cut the pieces to fit in the aftermath. A media so slanted as to do such is just as dangerous as one that is controlled by the dictator on the podium. Good write, Jim. WB

He disappeared the first three years, if he is smart he will do it now. I so wish he would. I cannot stand to see him, well I am sure you know the feeling. Even Michelle is starting to repulse me, using everything she can to win votes for him. I know it is politics but it is so fake. Like that Olympics thing...please. Who did that really fool?

Pamela - We still have a ways to go before the election. There will be many more gaffes and opportunities to point out the falsehoods spilling out of Washington DC.

Fred - When the teleprompter is on he uses I, Me and Mine hundreds of times. Choose your poison.

Maria - Thanks for taking the time to read my rant and also posting your interview.

      Oh Good Morning, Frog,

I tore myself away from your now famous interview to make sure that I could still consider your writing as USEFUL & INTERESTING as usual -- mission accomplished with a Vote UP & SYS! Hugs, mar

Perhaps the most illuminating point you bring out here (repeatedly) is that whenever Obama goes "off teleprompter", he tends to mess up and let "a little too much honesty" slip out. I've also noticed that his non-prompter statements are usually heavily sprinkled with thoughtful insertions, mainly, "Uh...uh...uh....".

      Voted Up Plus.

Excellent hub and you spell our the facts clearly. I wonder if everything won't depend on the debates however. Despite all the lies and the economy Obama is only a point or two below Romney in the polls. Oh, by the way I loved the nose!

I think the American Public has seen Enough...they are not that Stupid, even if the Media chooses to "Rose Color" everything. Slowly, very slowly, even "They" are starting to ask the right questions, Re: Charlie Rose's Interview.

T4HOTA - This election will be one of most important this nation ever faces. You are still a young man so I suggest that you cast a meaningful ballot. My first choice isn't in it anymore but I have enough political savvy to know that the turning point in the national political arena was 2010 when the silent majority spoke loudly again.

I hear 3rd party rumbling and I can tell you that this is not the election cycle to cast a vote that means more to Obama than it does to Romney. It will be up to your generation to straighten things out in this nation if they are to be straightened out.

      I'm with you, TFP!

However, the GOP cannot base a campaign around "Obama sucks, because of that we should vote in the other guy" and "Vote for the other guy because he's not Obama."

I don't think I could vote for either Romney or Obama; it's akin to seeing which turd is more polished.

Stu - Obama has created the makings of a depression much greater than any ever seen but he is fond of claiming that what he has done is keep us out of another depression. Temporarily maybe but what you point out is exactly what will occur if we let him keep up putting all the conditions in place.

You now know why he uses a teleprompter. Without one, he can't avoid Freudian slips. And anyone who makes Freudian slips without a script on a frequent basis is by definition a liar.

My biggest fear is Obama's fiscal and monetary policy. In less than four years, the official debt has climbed about $5 trillion, the Federal Reserve has printed over $3 trillion in fiat stimulus cash, the Fed has also printed unknown trillions in fiat cash bailing out European governments and banks, and the off balance sheet is exploding because Obama won't reform entitlements, terminate full faith and credit backing for federal housing agency debt (this general fund backing is essentially a collection of bailouts), and is not willing to haircut atrociously generous civil service retirement benefits.

The above spells potential doom, including default, hyperinflation, and a dollar crash. He doesn't realize it, but he's creating the conditions for a confidence crash followed by an "inflationary depression," essentially what Germany went through after WWI, which was worse than our own Great Depression in the 1930's. You know what they say about those who don't learn from history.

Frankly, I am enjoying all of these disgusting misunderstood remarks that keep popping out of his mouth. He says something horrible and his "team" start working like mad to explain why we are just to stupid to understand what he really said. The truth is that the real Obama is poking through and it is not a pretty sight. Up and awesome!

this was a long factual piece of good writing! No one seems to want to listen about lil-Barry being a commy dictator dumbass. This is nothing worse than 1000's of things hurled at GW Bush. Oh by the way I would say this about a white liberal commy SoB too.

I don't know what you do about the kool-aid drinkers. Even when presented with concrete fact, they refuse to see the truth.

We have 2 scenarios if he is re-elected:

      1. A GOP Congress keeps him in check. Meaning nothing will get done at all pretty much because this President does NOT know the word compromise. The scary part of this scenario is that with nothing getting done, people can't replace the President, so at mid-term they might just give him a Dem Congress again. Then we'll have scenario #2 for his last 2 years....

      2. Unfettered and no longer concerned about re-election, he'll fully implement his socialist agenda and we'll just cease to exist as a country. Without any viable military due to spending cuts (the only place he will cut spending, and already has) we'll be sitting ducks for whatever country decides they want us. Wonder what new language we'll have to learn by 2016.

Well it is working for him - he wants to redistribute wealth and turn America into a 3rd world country - and that's where we are headed. His true intentions are coming out- he's getting cocky.

OP - The second thing you mentioned I find a bit puzzling since the first two years of his administration his party controlled both houses of Congress. They could have passed just about anything they wanted to during that period and did not do so. Then many people woke up and made a change in 2010 and the Democratic Party has yet to accept that will of the people.

Not sure what it will take to wake people up to the reality of Barack Hussein Obama. I keep hearing about how likable Obama is but leadership isn't measured by likability but rather by results.

The truly sad part is his fan club who refuse to acknowledge any failures on the part of this President. You see them on the news, and read them here in comments on hubs. What will it take to get these people to see how miserable his performance has really been. It seems they have settled on two things to excuse him from being accountable. Those are blaming Bush, and the Republicans would not let him do anything. If it had not been for these two things, we would most likely have a labor shortage and a cash surplus to deal with. His major accomplishment has been getting people to believe him even when he is lying through his teeth.

The only thing that I would like to see this lying, communist, con man guilty of is TREASON. Lets have some accountability in that direction. He should know better, he is a "Constitutional" Scholar, and should be made to pay the price. That how angry I am at this wanna be a POTUS.

The dots, when connected, all build up and form one huge dot, and it falls directly on the spot marked FAIL.

Of course it is a good thing that he fails, otherwise we would all be socialists, eh?

It aint over yet either. . .

      Good writing Sir!
