Love and Peace in the world, I don't think so

Updated on June 7, 2009

I was reading this hub "military tradition is bad for society" where the author questions why the US MIlitary is revered so much and why not peace corps or other peace organizations. I chuckle at his ideas, don't get me wrong I respect his views but I think they will never be realized.

Th United States is a nation of war whether we like it or not. The United States had a revolutionary war where the British were defeated. The US battled the Spanish Army to take Cuba and up to this day we hold land in that communist country. The direct involvement in WWI and WWII by the United States mostly impacted the outcome of the war in our favor.

The United States is a nation of war plain and simple. We are a superpower on this earth because of our military. The author of the mentioned hub says he does not owe anything to the military, that the members of this military are just kids with aimless lives seeking a way out. That may be the case but if it wasn't for that aimless kid in the revolutionary war, the civil war, WWI or WWII or Korea or even Vietnam, I wonder if he would be writing these articles from a prison for writing against the military.

Peace and love will never exist in this world because there will always be war. There will always be a nutcase in Iran , North Korea, in the mountains of Afghanistan wanting more and more, at the expense of other people, millions of people and if the US does not have a strong military then I am sure these nut cases would be more inclined to destroy whatever they can against this nation because it is the most powerful on earth. I'm sure some would say what about 9/11, guess what we were stabbed in the back from these coward terrorist, no nation on earth would dare fight us head on because our military is too strong. These love and peace activist want the military to be downgraded, to cease from existence. I wonder if they would offer flowers and kisses to an invader because no military was here to defend it.

War has existed from the begining of time. war will continue until the end of times. Peace and love activist just know that there will always be a military to make sure you have your signs saying F--- you military. The military will be there to defend you against those who would throw you in jail and torture you for just expressing your views.

Soldiers are so much more than aimless kids!  While many of them may be young, most believe in what they signed up for.

      Excellent choice of videos.
