A Kentucky Man Says He Was Forced to Eat His Own Beard, After An Argument Over A Lawnmower

This is one crazy strange-but-true story.

A Kentucky man, Harvey Westmoreland, claims that he was beaten and then, at gunpoint, was forced to shave off and eat his own beard, by two of his now-former friends. The attack and forced beard-eating were apparently done in retaliation over an argument about a second-hand lawnmower. The two men who attacked him, James Hill and Troy Holt were apparently angry because they felt they were being overcharged for the lawnmower, which they were trying to buy from Westmoreland. They offered him $250 for it, but were angry when they found out he only paid $20, and accused him of trying to rip them off.

Westmoreland said when he arrived to meet with them to discuss the lawner, he observed they were both already drunk. He described the attack, saying that punches started flying, then all of a sudden there were knives and guns, and the two men then forced the hairy culinary experience upon him. The men did not offer Westmoreland any condiments to make the beard tastier, but they did give him a glass of water to help wash it down during the 6 hour ordeal.  After all was said and done, the men then threatened to kill him if he called the police.  He didn't listen.

Both men have been arrested, and pleaded guilty in court to the attack, and were sentenced to probation.  It has been reported that Westmoreland plans to file a civil suit against the men for $15,000, which is his estimated value for his "loss of beard".

The beard had apparently taken 8 years to grow, and Westmoreland has already started the lengthy task of growing it back.
