Are You Alive?

Obviously,if you weren't you couldn't read what I'm writing here. What does life mean to you? Is there a soul inside our body? What do we mean when we talk about the emotional plague first penned by Wilhelm Reich?

When you wake up in the morning are you excited about the things you have to do? How do you spend your days and weeks.

I have noticed if I plan my days ahead of time, I get more excited about what it is I'm doing. How about you?

Can you Succeed?

Recently I came across what is called the Maxwell Method and it relates to whether you will be successful in doing the things you do. According to Doctoral candidate, Bruce Maxwell, there are three major things that will determine our success.

These three things revolve around the question, "What motivates a person to take action and attempt a risk?"

In order to succeed it is postulated you MUST have two of these three things:

1. Willingness. Willing to make the attempt. You must believe if you try you will succeed.

2. Skills and abilities. You must be able to do it.

3. Locus of control. You must believe your personal effort can and will make a difference.

So what does this all have to do with being alive? My conjecture here is if you don't believe your actions can make a difference you will be filled with apathy. You will quit trying and either become depressed or move on to something else.

Do you have these characteristics?

What characteristics that motivates a person to take a risk and/or take action do I have?

Your soul knows!

I think our soul body knows what we want to do. Are you in touch with your soul body. If not, perhaps some quiet meditation is in order. When we meditate we can get in touch with the power that is all around us. It is my theory we all can tap into that power. We can see why we are alive on this planet (if you are from this planet), and what our goals need to be to accomplish the task we were put here to do.

Wilhelm Reich suggested we are victims of our emotions. If we do not learn to control our emotions we will never succeed in doing what our plan is to do. It has been said, that when the emotions take control, intelligence goes out the window. What do you think

Deon, this is a really interesting and thought-provoking Hub!

I am very much in agreement with Reich that we are the victims of our emotions and they can drive so much of our feelings and behaviour. Equally, for me, it is those emotions that make us human and have empathy, sadness, fear and happiness and everything else that comes with them.

Maxwell's three motivation areas also appeal to me and make sense to me personally for why I (I think) am motivated to take action and make a change in areas of my life.

Great Hub, thank you for sharing!
