Did Michelle Obama Really make More than the Doctors?

Updated on January 26, 2014

Paid More than Doctors!

This isn’t exactly the kind of story that hit he evening news. And while I believe it is a fair representation of the ethics employed by Barack Obama other might just think this is coincidence. You’ll have to decide for yourself.

This is exactly the kind of Job Creation that Obama must have been speaking about when he was talking about using Public Moneys to expand the job market.

In 2002, Michelle Obama was hired by the University of Chicago Hospital as its "Executive Director for Community Affairs" at a salary of approximately $120,000.

In January of 2005, Barack Obama was sworn in as a United States Senator.

In March of 2005, Michelle Obama was promoted to "Vice President for Community and External Affairs" and her salary bumped nearly $200,000 (from $121,910 to $316,962). This position was "newly created" for Mrs. Obama. That’s not a bad increase in pay, but I don’t see the “tie” between her salary being TRIPLED and Barack Obama being sworn in as a Senator do you? I’m betting it was probably just a coincidence. It’s pretty common for State Universities to triple the salaries of their employees.

In 2005, Obama was named Vice President for Community and External Affairs at the Medical Center, where she was responsible for all programs and initiatives that involved relationships between the Medical Center and the community. She was also responsible for managing the Medical Center's business diversity program.

External Affairs? Business Diversity?  What exactly does this mean?  How does this benefit patients? Relationships between the Hospital and the community?  It's a State run hospital. Please... this is a BS position made to order. Who dreams these "pretend" jobs up?

In February of 2006, Barack Obama requested a $1 million earmark for a new hospital pavilion at the University of Chicago. Again I’m wondering if there is a tie in to Michelle Obama being an employee and her raise or if this isn’t just another convenient coincidence?

Barack Obama Requested $1 Million For Construction Of A New Hospital Pavilion At The University Of Chicago. In 2006, Obama requested that the University of Chicago receive $1 million to support its Construction of NewHospital Pavilion.

Effective 9 January 2009, Michelle Obama resigned her position at UCH.

Effective 14 January 2009, Michelle Obama's VP position was eliminated, its functions absorbed into another executive's position. This prompted writer Don Rose to ask "[If] that work can be folded into another guy’s, why was it separate in the first place?"

There is nothing quite as convenient has high ethical standards by which to guide your career.

Michelle Obama Paid more than Most Doctors

Why shouldn't an Administrator have a special postion created just for her earn more than most Doctors?

Sounds like just more of the same as to the behavior of these two. They are both crooks and very successful in their occupation.

I'm thinking you completely missed the point of the post. This happened BEFORE Obama was president. Her raise coincided nicely with Obama being elected a Senator.

I find it amusing when People from the UK and Australia Chime in on American Politics which are very different than their own.

Your answers to who picks up expenses are here:

The President has to pay for very little... I would expect that. Has nothing to do with the issue of the huge raise Michelle got for her made up position.

There is nothing cruel or cynical about pointing out the obvious.

Hey MikeNV you are one cruel cynic - the lady had a student loan to pay off ! Cut her some slack. And what about now ? Does the First Lady get paid or does she have to make do with hubby's pay check ? And who pays the electric bills in that big house? So much stuff to worry about and the psychoanalyst's bills to straighten out that hypoallergenic dog those crazy Kennedys messed up. Being First Lady is more trouble than it's worth.

Here in the UK our MPs used to charge all their extras like food, lightbulbs, bath plugs, porno DVDs to the taxpayer and just used their salaries for buying second and third houses. Our glorious leader Gordon Brown (salary around $350,000 + rent-free accommodation put in expenses claims for lightbulbs amounting to $30 plus a pile of other stuff amounting to $20,000 then said it was all a clerical error and he was very sorry and wouldn't do it again). I could go on, but I've ranted enough on your hubpage !
