Michigan's Welfar System -- A Joke

Updated on March 7, 2012

I was driving to work this morning listening to the radio. One station was taking about a women from Michigan who had won the lottery and initially it was a feel good story because at the time she won she was on welfare and getting food stamps. Yes, these are the kind of folks you want to win because you know they really need it. They continued talking about this women and how she paid cash for a new car and cash for a new house. She put her money to good use. Unfortunately she spent the rest of the money and even though she owns a car and house is once again on welfare and getting food stamps. The Michigan welfare system has no law or limit on what you own, they base it off of your income level at the time you apply. I sit here scratching my head, I am dumbfounded that this is being allowed.

What do you all think?

Don't hold your breath. You have to get rid of a lot more Democrats for that to ever happen.

I was floored when I heard that on the news. I am glad that it made the national newscasts maybe this will give Michigan the incentive to revamp their welfare system.

By the time I read this the woman in question has been cut off from food stamps, but only because it made the national news. The people who work in these programs have no incentive to get people off the system. It's job security for them.
