Mr. Obama's Selective Oath Of Office

Updated on July 2, 2010

Going on vacation folks! Have a blessed and wonderful 4th of July and KEEP ON HUBBING FOR OUR LIBERTIES! REMEMBER NOVEMBER!!

The Wall Street Journal just verified what has been driving me nuts since the catastrophic oil spill happened. Where oh where is the President and FEMA (which seems to have vaporized – oh no – it hasn’t – the media is just ignoring the fact that in this crisis, under this president – FEMA  must be "doing their job.")? Oh yes, that's right, our President is constantly playing golf, having parties for Bush bashing U.K. idiots, and wagging his tongue blaming George Bush for the spill. Now there's some leadership for ya! Why muss his coifed hair and Brooks Brother's shirts over those citizens he was supposedly sworn to uphold? You know, the ones who are in the path of this oil spill.

Here are two major reasons why: There wasn’t an instant “burn off” at the site of the oil spill when it FIRST happened as is standard. Why? Answer: The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). They won’t relax their restrictions. Why can’t the President override this? He can – in a sense. He has usurped the law numerous times – the recent dropping of the Black Panthers lawsuit at voting stations for example jumps to mind – but I digress.

He could put pressure on his friends to relax some restrictions. But he won’t and obviously didn’t. If he had gone public with this – you can bet the pressure would be on and the EPA would have been able to do something perfectly legal to allow the burn.

Secondly, why have skimmers – one in fact from Holland the size of three football fields designed to skim millions of gallons of oil from water daily, been allowed through into our waters? Why have ALL the skimmers other countries have generously offered to the U.S. been allowed to skim?

Answer: a. The EPA again. It is a mystery why they would not want this to happen. Apparently, they don’t have to give a reason.

Answer b. Also, there is the Jones Act. This act so brilliantly “restricts foreign ships from operating in U.S. coastal waters.” Other countries have ships and technologies that would greatly help with the cleanup efforts. What is the Jones Act exactly? It’s Union muscle. The world doesn’t unionize their merchant marines therefore, the few U.S. ships with overpriced union crews are the only ones allowed in our U.S. waters. A combination of these regulations – the EPA’s and the Jones Act, are why these ships just wait without being used.

I will add to this. I believe this is a national crisis that the Obama administration NEEDS to use to their political advantage. They want Cap and Trade and they want it BADLY. So never let a good crisis with Americans suffering go unexploited!

Lastly, I wish to add incompetence. The total lack of leadership, inability to even think through a problem and solve it, the sickening lack of will to step up to the plate and use more than rhetoric given a national crisis. The President is in way, way over his head with this job he didn’t “inherit” but politicked for and begged for. Inheriting something implies being given something by birthright. The way the President and his administration uses this word is in its least used form. Mr. Obama wanted the job and traveled the country and even internationally telling the world he was up to the job. He’s not. He’s an abysmal failure at this national oil spill crisis and everything else associated with the job.

And there you have it citizens of the United States. The President could change both of these ridiculous regulations in a heartbeat just by asking. If they dug their heels in, all he’d have to do is make one of his teleprompter speeches and they’d find a way to relax the regulations for this horrible crisis. But the people in Louisiana aren’t going to come out and vote in droves for the President, nor the people of Florida. Fishermen aren’t unionized. Perhaps the President, when he swore to uphold the rights of the American people, really meant to swear to uphold only the rights of the Union citizens and the Environmental citizens—along with other pet special interest citizens.

How sad all this.... It almost looks like there is no hope...

angel115707 -- Thank you for your comments - I'm sure much of what you wrote is terribly true. When that oil rig blew - I said to my husband - "I wouldn't put it past the Eco Nazi's or the Obama administration to blow this thing up so they could push Cap and Trade." I still think that's all too possible!

      Thanks for leaving your comments!

Pop - I can't believe this! This weekend, we spent a lot of time with a super liberal and when the oil spill was brought up HE SAID THE EXACT SAME THING!!!! He said it was Bush's fault and argued with me that the "spill wasn't that bad." OH MY GOSH! Do these people even KNOW how to read?!?! I thought he was just being a dolt - bless his heart -- because he doesn't know anything about computers and doesn't go on-line and only listens to NPR radio!! HOLY COW. It's just mind boggling!!

great hub! the entire oil spill seems so set up. The head stake holders selling stock right before it happened, chemicals tied up to a liberal political owner, etc etc... the timing right when they want more taxes for "green" washing and here alot of people are sick and losing jobs and are heading out of Florida and LA etc...its sick...SICK !!!!

Great hub Cjv. The President has gotten what he has wished for and that is a crisis that he can use to his advantage. Those who put this impostor in office ought to be hiding their heads in shame. But of course, they are not. I went to a party yesterday and had the misfortune of speaking to just such a person. When asked if it bothered her that Obama hasn't done a thing to mitigate this spill her reply was simple. The spill is Bush's fault and there is nothing that Obama could have done that would make a difference.. When she was asked about all the nations that were waiting to help after some 70 days, her answer was, the spill is no big deal. This is what we are up against. People who vote, who clearly are not able to think. Hope you are enjoying your vacation.

We all know they would be screaming impeachment, Bush does not care about wildlife, because its an oil company Bush won't do anything-so he can push his leftist green agenda. Never let a good crisis go to waste- well hopefully the Right will use this crisis as a nail in the political coffin of BHO

I'm with Wayne, screaming...You Go Girl!

Someone with even a little executive experience knows that he can suspend other rulings in a time of crisis. But Obama didn't.

great loved it. though Im trying to remember where the EPA was mentioned in the constitution and when they were elected to pass laws. its time the Alphabet agencies were done away with and our elected officials start doing the job they are paid for instead of farmning out their dutys to unelected pin heads.

I was doing research on the biding nature of the oath of office and it is binding. Along with the mishandling of the oil spill the also Eric Holder and his blatant dis-regard of election law with Obama's blessing. Add to this this lack of upholding immigration law holding Americans prisoner in Arizona all together it raises to impeachable offences!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sounds to me you have it right. We have to keep reminding ourselves he is doing exactly what he wants to do, so when he turns his back on the people in the Gulf area and the people in Arizona, he is doing so on purpose. He's not incompetent, he just has an agenda which does not include protecting the American people.

Enjoy your vacation. Hope you have lots of sun and happy times.

I really like this hub. I have been wondering too what happened to the oath of office this rotten fool took? Uphold the constitution?? How about trampling it into dust? This man has no respect for this nation, her people, and her traditions!!! He is allowing the destruction to continue in the Gulf because he has to placate his union thug friends. I bet BO will make time for golf, picnicking, and basketball over this July 4th weekend!!

Thanks for this hub very much. I think all citizens should write the letter to president to resign with entire cabinet.
