NOYNOY AQUINO MUST QUIT SMOKING!

Updated on January 27, 2014

Noynoy Aquino

So my fellow Filipinos, it is very likely that Noynoy Aquino is our new President! This man has obviously survived the many issues thrown against him by his political opponents. The psychological issue and the other not so significant ones have apparently failed. His political opponents were not able to discourage the voting public from electing this man to the highest position in the Philippine government. Obviously, the people want changes and Noynoy to them is the man who could deliver.

Actually I did not vote for Noynoy. Despite my big respect to his parents, I opted to vote for Gibo Teodoro because he is to me the best among the candidates. But unfortunately, the people are not ready to give this administration candidate any chance. The Filipinos hate Gloria Macapagal Arroyo too much so that despite Gibo’s obvious edge over the other candidates he was ignored by the majority of the people.

Noynoy won and surprisingly Joseph “Erap” Estrada, even placed second. I wonder if Ninoy was right when he said “The Filipinos are worth dying for!” I don’t think all Filipinos are worth dying for. How could the people who voted Erap be worth dying for when they don’t even know how to give this country a chance to have a good leader? They still want Erap back into power.

In my opinion, this man who was convicted and sentenced to life imprisonment for taking more than $85 million in bribes and kickbacks does not deserve any single vote from the people of the Philippines. He should rather just retire and enjoy his newfound freedom with his various wives, children and grandchildren. He should be thankful to Gloria Macapagal Arroyo for this woman find the heart to release him from prison. Whatever her motive for doing so, Joseph Estrada still owes GMA his freedom.

Now going back to Noynoy, this man is currently faced with another issue. This time, the issue is not fabricated. This is about his smoking habit which he is not actually hiding. Noynoy just admitted he could not quit smoking. Addicted? Certainly! He is addicted to nicotine just as the countless people all over the world. Well this is a common thing to many people actually but the fact that he is now the incoming President made the big difference.

The Department of Health is serious in its campaign against smoking and I can’t imagine how Noynoy would still look respectable if he would not quit smoking and hence would keep violating the anti-smoking campaign of one of the departments of a government he himself is leading. A good leader should serve by example and his examples must be good.

Now this is my final statement, I think Kris and her other sisters should join hands in convincing Noynoy to give up smoking. If Kris and her sisters gave their all to campaign for ‘Noy, and obviously they succeed, they should now give the people a good reason to look up on this man they elected to the Presidency.

Ladies, go and convince your only brother to quit smoking. It is not only for the sake of being a good leader but for his own good as well. If a President could not even rule himself well how could he ever rule the land well? Look at former President Erap? Now tell me, should I say further more?

He did on October 2 together with Iskho Moreno, his running mate. I saw that on a TV news program. Looks like... Erap is still hot to many people and they are those who are stupid enough to believe he is really pro-poor.

      Greenlily,

Pardon removes legal responsibility on the part of the recipient but the taint on his personality cannot be removed. I might not have been glued to the TV enough, I have not been buying newspapers lately, but I have not seen on TV Erap filing his candidacy for mayor of Manila. Did he file? I saw TV coverage of some unknown candidates singing in the premises of Comelec. Erap is a hot media copy; did media miss out or chose not to give him free campaign footage? There were at least 9 million residents of Manila in 1994 there must a lot more now; of course, the number of voters is much less. If Erap is a candidate, it is interesting to find how voters look at him.

I believe Ramos is right. That is the biggest mistake Gloria did. It is a disgrace to see this corrupt man enjoying his freedom. He even has the guts to run for election. After failing in getting back the Presidency he wants to be the mayor of Manila now. This alcoholic, womanizer won't stop till he gets back to power.

      Greenlily,

Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo pardoned Erap to split the opposition vote and enhance the winning chances of her candidate. Erap split the opposition vote alright but Gibo placed fourth in the presidential race. Four opposition candidates even nosed out Gibo. The Supreme Court played ball with Gloria by allowing Erap, a pardoned person (not to mention womanizer), to run for the presidency. The Supreme Court played safe by abdicating in its duty as the organ of the society to resolve the issue, making the voters the judges if Erap were qualified or not. It was a case of putting the horse behind the kalesa (carriage). That's the kind of logic these lawyers had! Well, Gloria had packed the court, 13 appointees out of the 15 justices. The pardon of Erap is a disgrace to this country. I like the way, as I have observed via TV, how former president Fidel V. Ramos snubs Erap during appearances of former presidents. Pres. Ramos told Gloria that pardoning Erap is a mistake. I have a Hub on this topic.

Greeenlily, Hmmm just a thought? Maybe all countries should say "no smoking" is a universal criteria for the canidacy of President? Smoking is not good for one's health! Thank you for sharing, Peace & Blessings!
