No Leadership in Sight
Buzzy is at the Table
Good Morning, Breakfastpoppers. Today is Thursday, April 30, 2015. Our busy friend, Fly Buzzy, is at the breakfast table this morning. Buzzy has been down to Baltimore and he has returned saddened and disgusted. Baltimore is a repeat of the Ferguson riots and it is impossible to process the devastation. Buzzy has no idea what transpired when drug dealer, Freddie Gray was in police custody. The events of that arrest, though unknown, have torn the city of Baltimore to pieces. Buzzy has asked for the pleasure of your company at breakfast this morning. He is serving waffles with pure maple syrup. I am mixing up a batch of Irish coffees to accompany the meal. We hope to see you soon. Buzzy needs to vent.
The Voice of Sanity
Thank you all for joining me this morning. Needless to say, the riots in Baltimore have dominated the news and the nation. Milwaukee Sheriff David Clarke was the voice of sanity throughout this fiasco. President Obama mentioned that the nation needed to do some soul searching. Sheriff Clarke suggested that the president needed to do some soul searching about his failed liberal policies that have served only to prolong the misery in the ghettos. Sheriff Clarke, who doesn't suffer any fools, said that life in the ghetto is all about life style choices. He went on to say that the choices were flawed. Consider the decision to drop out of school. That choice is the road to misery and failure. Consider bad behavior that leads to unemployment or jail. Deciding to bring a child into the world out of wedlock is another failed choice. If anything is ever going to get better in the ghetto, residents there are going to have to make better choices and work like hell to do the right thing. This is what President Obama should be talking about. This is what Al Sharpton should be talking about. This is exactly what Jesse jackson should be talking about. Instead, the blame is put on society, on the cops and on the white community. Personal responsibility is absent from the equation.
Voice of Insanity
Baltimore Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake gave the looters and thugs a green light to destroy businesses and rip the city apart. Unbelievably, she said that she wanted to give space to those who wished to destroy. Shame on her. Her words told the police to stand down. The sight of the police being pelted by large stones was sickening to say the least. This is the worst display of leadership I have ever seen. I can't even believe most of these rioting animals even cared about the death of Freddie Gray. A pair of new Nikes seemed to be on their minds. They looted and destroyed a CVS. This is the same CVS that sells food and so much more to the community. The rioters have ensured that the city will be under served. If anything ever gets better, it will take a very long time. It may never get better. If Watts is an example of the after effects of mass rioting, then Baltimore has many more years of suffering ahead. President Obama suggested that he had policies that would have made something like these riots less likely. The fault, he seemed to suggest, was with the Republicans. This kind of empty rhetoric shouldn't surprise anybody.
Democrats Are Not the Answer
President Obama can suggest that his policies are the cure-all for troubled cities, but the evidence tells us otherwise. Baltimore and other poor messed up cities like Detroit have been under the thumb of Democrats forever. Essentially, Baltimore is a mess, from the police department to the schools. The Democratic party hasn't done a thing to make things better and things will never get better as long as they are in power. The war on poverty is old, tired and a failure. If people in these depressed areas want to see change, they had better stop voting for the same old tired politicians who are in it for themselves.
If President Obama really cared about what occurred in Baltimore he would have told those idiots on the streets to disperse and go home. The mayor should have been concerned about business owners who were losing their stores. The mayor should have been protecting citizens who live there, work there and want to remain there. Young people in cities like Baltimore need leadership and guidance. They need to be held accountable for their actions, They need to realize that education is the pathway out of poverty. They need to hear that there are opportunities out their to get ahead. They need to hear all of this from leaders in the community and the nation. They don't need Al Sharpton and thus far, they don't need President Obama. They need more people like Sheriff Clarke. There are answers to these problems, but they will not come from the likes of Sharpton or Obama. It is time for real "change."
Fly me to the moon
And let me live where I am free
Things are so ugly now
I think we're up a tree!
