No Response from the White House

Updated on August 10, 2014

Crossing the Border

For the past few months, media centers like FOX News have been making strong efforts to cover the story of a Marine who was arrested in Mexico. Mexican border patrol agents arrested Sgt. Andrew Tahmooressi on March 31. They claim he had three firearms in his possession and while crossing into Mexico to allegedly commit a crime. Sgt. Tahmooressi says he did have three legally purchased and registered firearms in his vehicle. He also says he was in Mexico but by mistake. His claim of not being able to turn around has been rejected by Mexican authorities. He was jailed and charged with weapons trafficking.

La Mesa Prison

Since his arrest, the White House has made no effort to aid him in his release. Sometime after his arrest, authorities claim he attempted an escape. Because of this alleged escape, he was transferred to La Mesa Prison in Tijuana. If you have never heard of La Mesa Prison, think of Rikers Island in New York. Rikers is one of the worst prisons in the U.S., as La Mesa Prison is the worst in Mexico. I can only imagine the horrors of such a prison. My only experience is my brief career in county jail, as a correctional officer.

Should the President step in and help the Veteran?

Yes for a Traitor, No for a Hero

A few months ago, Mr. President made a horrible mistake. He release in a ill-thought ploy(by the sitting President of a country where freedom is questioned) to trade five highly trained terrorists(the Taliban Five) and enemies of the State from GITMO for a traitor--Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl.

I guess he thought an army traitor is more important than a marine veteran and decorated hero. If not, why does he break our code of not negotiating with terrorists to release this traitor and not even respond to pleas and petitions to help a hero?

Sgt Tahmooressi will be in La Mesa until the White House decides to handle the issue. No one is asking for a "Bergdahl" but for the President to plea on his behalf. If Sgt. Bergdahl can get special treatment, I don't see why Sgt Tahmooressi can't get the same.

My Rating

5 stars for Ted Cruz's response

U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz's Response

-“It is a disgrace. A decorated U.S. Marine is languishing in a Mexican jail because he took a wrong turn … and had in his car three firearms,”

- “Nobody, nobody, nobody has a bigger bully pulpit than the president of the United States, and I cannot understand why the president is so unwilling to speak out for freedom.”

Let's see him free soon!

He has been there long enough!

The politicians who have a job need to do their job before they have no job.
