Obama Bucks

Updated on March 22, 2013

This Is What We Want Our Country To Come To?

They say that the acorn never falls far from the tree. Such might be the case for Nancy Pelosi and her daughter Alexandra. The acorn I speak of is not the same ACORN that Obama worked for as a community organizer though there might be a common thread that spins through the tale. It's hard to listen to Nancy because she is such a head case. I think Alexandra makes a little more sense at times though not much. So first lets discuss Nancy and her latest citation of the "Founding Father's" intent for this nation. This drivel spewed forth on the second anniversary, which Obama somehow failed to celebrate, of the freedom stealing signature piece of legislation we now not so affectionately call Obamacare.

Now according to San Fran Nan, who must live in an alternate universe and commute here daily, Obamacare has now allowed the freedom that the Founding Father's envisioned. How's that? Well, Obamacare was seen as an "Entrepreneurial Bill" you see. You just fail to see the obvious.

We Obviously Missed The Point?

Now this seems a bit unreal. We have a House Minority Leader standing in front of a crowd pronouncing that it's okay to quit your job so you can pursue your talents. Don't worry about it if you want to be creative, just quit your job and the tax payer's will pick up the tab for your health care. You know become liberated! And I quote her here: "the type of “liberation” that the 'Founders had in mind' because it allows you to quit your job and become a “photographer,” a “writer,” a “musician”--or “whatever.” The "whatever" part concerns me a bit.

I don't think the Founding Fathers thought anywhere close to the way that Nancy Pelosi thinks they thought. This nation was built on hard, back breaking, blood shedding work, not freebies. Oh yeah Pelosi but I'm wondering if you saw the short interviews your daughter did in her recently released clip on "welfare queens." We'll get to that segment in a minute.

Oh and she went further. She told the crowd that as one hears these stories, "this is liberation." Again I quote, “This is what our founders had in mind--ever expanding opportunity for people. Having quoted her on that one, lets swing over and watch a short clip of the interviews her daughter, Alexandra, did on the mean streets of New York City. Before you watch though let me remind you that they walk among us. This was aired on Bill Maher's show by the way.

Obama Bucks Is Where It's At!

"I'm not looking for a job, maybe a career, but not a job." Wowser! Where I come from first you get a job, then decide if you want to make it a career and if you don't then you go out and change fields and so forth and so on. Somewhere along the line most hard working Americans realize that what they do puts a roof over their heads, clothes on their backs and food on their tables. I reckon we just haven't become liberated enough yet according to Pelosi. Of course, being a professional, pickpocket politician, I don't imagine the woman has ever held a real job in her life. Just read her bio sometime.

She went on to play her usual sympathy card by saying, “You want to be a photographer or a writer or a musician, whatever -- an artist, you want to be self-employed, if you want to start a business, you want to change jobs, you no longer are prohibited from doing that because you can’t have access to health care, especially because you do not want to put your family at risk,”

Life is about "risk." Those of us who have taken the risk usually reap the rewards of doing so. Those of us who have responsibly raised our families know what it takes to provide for those we hold near and dear. That isn't about receiving "Obama Bucks" Nancy, that is about going to work and doing what is required to be done to do so. It is called "freedom" and what this nation was founded on - hard work, sweat and toil.

Not The First Nor Last Time Probably

That clip was from May of 2010 so her tune hasn't changed. I was always an aspiring musician myself but then realized I don't have the God given talent that a Jimmie Buffet has. What bothers me is that here we have a national figure encouraging people to just quit their job and go off into LalaLand to pursue their dreams while the rest of us continue to do what we know must be done to make ends meet. Life just isn't like that and probably never will be. There are hobbies and then there is work. Collecting "Obama Bucks" is a hobby to most who do so and has nothing to do with work which was well illustrated in daughter Alexandra's expose.

We hear, and have heard for decades now, the mantra of the Democratic Party about "breaking the cycle of poverty." That involves creativity in the thought process which I don't think many of those elected pickpockets have on Capitol Hill. You don't break the cycle of poverty by giving away "Obama Bucks" or the farm for that matter. You don't give a man a fish, you teach him how to fish. You don't need to have the federal government as your Nanny. Have you lost all your self-respect or did you possess any in the first place? The US tax payer shouldn't be placed in the role of being the financier of people who want to quit their job and pursue their dreams. What kind of signal are we sending to the youth of this nation by such nonsense? Something is wrong with this picture.

There is no Obama money folks. That is our money. There is no free lunch, someone is picking up the tab. I suppose if you are getting the free lunch that doesn't mean much to you but since I'm picking up part of the tab, it does to me. I'd love to quit the rat race, run off to Costa Rica and twiddle my toes through the sand. Someday I might just do that but then I face the reality of real life. In order to pursue my dreams I have to work very hard to do so.

We will have a choice in 2012. Obama is running as "The Provider" and he has made it obvious by his every move lately. My question is this, "Since he wants to 'provide' for your every want and need then who is going to provide the money for him to do that?" Is he going to stroke that extra check just to be fair? He hasn't nor will he. If there are enough people he encourages to be on the government tit then they may just catapult him to victory. But the reality is that socialism works just fine until you run out of other people's money.

We are indeed a nation adrift at this point. The idea that everything should be free will cause you to lose your freedom. Slavery to a powerful federal government is unacceptable. It was to the Founding Fathers and it should be to all Americans at this point. The redistribution of wealth was a key cornerstone in Karl Marx's way of thinking which led to communism. That proved to be a failed doctrine. Life just doesn't work that way.

As Always,

The Frog Prince
