Obama Says War No More

Updated on December 15, 2011

Greg has many opinions when it comes to politics and education. He has no qualms with voicing his opinion..

Yesterday at Fort Bragg, President Obama declared that as of December 31st, 2011 all American troops will leave Iraq and the war will be over. It has been a long, long time and I am happy that many will be home with their families and safe. On the other hand, are we leaving the Iraq people in a bad state of affairs?

It is this frog's opinion that this is a ploy by Barack Obama to gain reelection. It seems like greed and deception, but that is just my opinion.

Obama promised way back in 2009 that he would end the war. I guess he wanted to come through with one of his promises.

The question I have now is: what will happen to Iraq and it's people? Who will run the country?

So many questions; I wonder if Obama has considered any of them?

So how many lives did America lose in Iraq?

  • 2003: 486
  • 2004: 849
  • 2005: 846
  • 2006: 822
  • 2007: 904
  • 2008: 314
  • 2009: 149
  • 2010: 60
  • 2011: 54

A grand total of 4484 American lives lost. May they all Rest In Peace.

Iraq Government

There is really no clear leadership in Iraq at this time. The last election was neck and neck with Nouri al-Maliki winning just barely over former prime minister Ayyad Allawi. They both seem to be power hungry and I predict civil war will begin in Iraq soon after December 31st. I don't see much good coming from all of this.

A Call To Pray

The people of Iraq need your prayers.

Just because the majority of them are Muslim is no reason not to pray for them.

They have faced a lot over these years of war. Many innocent people were killed and I have a feeling that it isn't over for them.

Father God, please lay your hand on the Iraqi people. Awaken them to your love and cleanse their land. Please Lord, if in Your will, stop the bloodshed and let them enjoy peace. Only Your will Lord, because You are wise and know the best for all man. In Jesus' name I pray. Amen.

Honey...I don't like politic themes because they are only lies after lies, but this Hub with those numbers and short words, touched my heart. Hope they all come back and never go back unless as tourists.

Did you understand what they are saying?????

I have no horse in this race; and did NOT vote for Obama. Clearly, he is no better ("Meet the new boss, Same as the old boss").

Yeah, regardless of politics, we need to pray more than ever for our leaders and especially that (IMO) Jesus comes back to rule FAIRLY and JUSTLY!

      Because, we clearly can't...

Enough of the Bush and lies bullcrap! Doesn't matter if your left or right concerning politics, each of us should seek the truth wether it helps our side or hurts it! The entire world said they had WMDs, So lets stop blaming Bush as Obama does daily after 3 years of total control and zero accomplishments! If this war was illegal then Obama should have brought them all home the day he took over! PS they are not home yet! Im betting this is yet another Gitmo!

I think it is a great thing that troops are coming home. Of course Obama is absolutely doing this to help bolster his chances of reelection. That's just how American politics work, all politicians are always thinking about how their actions will be sold to the public. Both a good and a bad thing. Great hub!

Obama promised he would end the war and he has done just that. This is a GOOD thing. Now if he would only end the war in Afghanistan...

I think MOST Americans would see this, if they could but separate themselves from emotional "nationalism" taught us from grade school on...

Don't misunderstand...I LOVE America...but, we need to be able to ask some serious questions about this without being labeled "unpatriotic"

Yes, you are right Filk. Many others have told me the same. Its a darned if you do and darned if you don't. We should have never been there in the first place. George W. Bush should be convicted.

      Mixed feelings, yes...

On the one hand we have Mr. Obama, who may or may not be trying to score reelection points but we DO know that he inherited this illegal war, predicated on lies, from his predecessor Mr. Bush.

Not that we can't say we weren't warned: after the neocons published PNAC (Project for the New American Century) in the late '90's, it was only matter of time before its dire predictions became a self-fulfilling prophesy (that in order for America to retain stature globally, it must have access to the natural resources found in the Middle East...via occupation resulting from a "cataclysmic event on the order of Pearl harbor")...!

We saw this occur on September 11, 2001. Based on largely contrived evidence, we declared war and NEVER had a viable EXIT STRATEGY. Now, we could remain there for another 100 years, as John McCain suggested, or we can TRUST that what we HAVE accomplished there remains viable, and able to police and govern themselves without our fat-cat contracts controlling events.

Just another way to look at it, I guess.
