Our Resentful President Donald Trump
It is not hard to imagine
The most recent six day rant from President Trump shows the American people that their president is resentful against anyone, group of people, or entity, that disagrees with him. Trump loves a fight just for the fight even when he is dead wrong because he has to win at any cost.
I am talking about the stupid and petty "magic marker" markup of where the direction of Hurricane Dorian was headed. Trump said that it could cross the state and hit Alabama based upon weather reports. But when the official tracking then did not show it hitting Alabama, Trump drew and extended area on the tracking map to justify and prove his stupid point. Even in the most trite and mundane things, Trump cannot admit he was wrong, and this was in the media for six days because Trump kept raising the issue to prove he was right.
What a immature and petulant 71-year old punk he is. Even his staff was telling me just to let it go. This is just one of many examples of his narcissistic personality.
The 2020 Election
In the coming months, the 2020 election will heat up and probably far worse than 2016 in acrimony between candidates. If the polls are even remotely correct, Trump is going to lose as his politics are toxic for anyone outside of his base, which stagnates at 40%. In fact, Trump does not want to expand his base and feels he can win with his base.
Trump does not have a lot to brag about. Yes, the economy is his only point to brag about and he seems to know this. He also fears that should the trade war with China not give the dividends he thought it would and actually bring more problems to America, it could end any chance of re-election. All of the scandals, whether it is his treatment of women, collusion with Russia now (not in 2016), nullifying the EPA agency that protects our environment, ripping apart NATO, his racism, all cast a pale over himself as a person and the White House.
The Dark Side
There could be a time in 2020, when Trump begins to intentionally make bad decisions regarding American policies stemming from his personal resentment and vendetta. This would occur when Trump knows he is a one term president, whether from polls or just his gut intuition that he loves to brag about. He could cloak these bad policy decisions to cover his personal animus. In essence, it would be resentment towards the American voters and this is how he might have his retribution. He knows, if he loses, someone, or agency, will file criminal or civil lawsuits against him, as he will no longer have the immunity of the White House.
Trump could steer policies even more toward Russia to gain favor. Even now, he is thinking of stopping aid to the Ukraine and for what reason? The $250 million is a drop in the bucket to help a new democracy on Russia's border. It would be done to appease Putin, to gain favor for when Trump was again the CEO of Trump Enterprises. It would be to get his Trump Tower in Moscow. Trump could also invite Putin to the next G7 meeting, which would certainly be liked by Putin, but that is it.
Domestically, he could relax the EPA laws even further than the 83 he has already, making the agency gutted. He could remove restrictions of the development of natural resources now protected (due to their location in pristine areas) even more than he has.
Trump has shown us that he is a revengeful man. A person who retaliates and holds grudges from past perceived wrongdoing. What would Trump do should he target his own retribution (when he knows he cannot win) against the American voter?
