People On Death Row

Updated on September 4, 2010

Thinking

I was thinking the other day about Ted Bundy...the serial killer. I don't know really what brought it to my mind but I was thinking about him and how he was on death row waiting to be executed because of all the people he had killed. It breaks my heart all those inocent people he killed. I wasn't alive long enough to know who he was, but as a person who likes to read true crime novels it gave me a little insight on who he was. There are many people who are killed every year by people. I don't understand why people kill others or what gets i there mind to do so. It makes me wonder if they want to get caught or if they just do it because it is a natural high for them. I really don't know.

Can We

As I sit and think about all the people on death row, I think of all those people who need to know what Jesus did for them. Are there people out there that are reaching them, telling them that when they die, they can go to a better place and they are forgiven if they just ask and mean it with there whole hearts. Or have we turned our hearts away from them and just think to ourselves or tell others they get what they have coming to them because of all the people they hurt? I myself at first thought they have it coming, they hurt people in so many ways and killed peoples family members and friends. But then my heart is convicted. Sin is sin no matter what way you look at it, it could be stealing a candy bar from the store and God looks at it all the same. All we need to do is ask him for forgiveness and turn from those things from which caused us to sin and live life how Jesus wants us to. So we need to ask ourselves can we forgive these people for what they have done to our family and friends? I know without the help of Jesus I know I could.

Forgiveness

I know now that I have Jesus in my life if something like that were to happen to my friends or family I would be able to forgive them because I would want to hold on to that if we showed them the love Jesus gave us by forgiving them and in them seeing that we can forgive them that there is someone way better out there that can forgive them to and they can go to heaven. I don't know who said this line once but I like it..." I can forgive you for what you have done but I shall never forget" I know we all have things in our lives that we can forgive but we can't forget. We need start showing the love of Jesus and forgiving those who have hurt us, reguardless of the situation. I know it is easier said than done, but we will be free if we start doing that. We will know in our hearts that we did the right thing and that will give us peace. I think then after we have forgiven them we need to ask them to forgive us to for the things we have said or done or even thought that could hurt them, if that is not possible write them and read it to yourself and then I have learned that helps to. Then we also need to forgive ourselfs and that yet may be the hardest thing we have to do. But when we do it will be a freeing exsperience.

Closing Thoughts

As I close this, I want you all to think abou those people on death row and all the others we haven't reached out to and told about Jesus.  Are we willing to take a stand and tell others about Jesus and what he has done in our life.  Think about who are we to judge these people who are where they are.  We need to love them reguardless, not saying it will be easy but sometimes all people need is love.  We will never forget the lives of the people killed by others but we need to forgive the ones who have hurt us.  With the help of Jesus I believe we all can do this.

      Ms. Jen,

Fabulous writings. Suggest you let your mind flow out thorough your fingers on the keyboard of your computer on a word file. Do a spell check and grammar check done before posting it on the hub page.

All your articles are good but some errors in spellings and grammar spoils the whole enthusiasm of reading such wonderful articles.

Please take this comment in a very positive way and continue the good work.

      Jen,

Beautifully well written and I agree with George. I believe that you could be a serious writer and all you need to do is use that spell checker and do some re-reads. Please take that as positive input.

About the topic, it's weird Jen that you chose to write about this. God kept me up the other night speaking to me about people on death row (great minds think alike, huh?)

And this is what He said to me:

"We all have a death sentence, just how long our stay is for we don't know"

It was pretty powerful stuff, as the words in your hub are, and yes as hard as it is we need to forgive...all people.

      Beautiful hub!!
