A right-wing extremist group by the name of The Center for Medical Progress has released yet another video to discredit Planned Parenthood. This group certainly has the right to criticize any organization they want as long as what they are reporting is based on the truth. The fraudulent videos made by the Center for Medical Progress are heavily edited and show no illegal activity on the part of Planned Parenthood.
As if this isn't bad enough, Republicans are using these videos in an attempt to defund Planned Parenthood. Fortunately Republicans did not get their wish when the Senate struck down a bill this week that would do just that. If Republicans had succeeded, they would have been cutting off many people from birth control, lifesaving cancer screenings, STD testing and treatment and other preventive health care services.
In last night's GOP debate, candidates Florida Gov. Jeb Bush and Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker boasted that they succeeded in defunding Planned Parenthood in their respective states, according to CBS News.
As a supporter of Planned Parenthood I know first hand that their main concern
is the health and safety of their patients. This latest attack is exactly why I
joined Planned Parenthood. I wanted to stand up to these extremists once and for
all and defend Planned Parenthood's pledge to provide their patients with the
best care possible. And boy am I glad I made that decision.
