Poverty is a Curse

Updated on June 10, 2011

Poverty is a curse as it stops the growth of the country as a whole. Poverty is not only where there is lack of basic resources but also where people are not ready to fight against it and also where they don’t stand against its eradication. Poverty is more than lack of resources as it is the state of insecurity where poor remains poor because they are unsecured and depressed with worries all around. Various studies, researches have proven that majority of sick people in hospitals are below the poverty line. And the basic reason to this is that they don’t work to earn bread and butter because they are so de-motivated that they don’t have inner urge to work, which thus leads to hunger, starvation, deaths. Thus, the downward spiral keep on working in their life as they keep on becoming poorer and thus poverty remains.

Poverty leads to crime in our society as we all know that young youth gets involve in chain snatching, robberies, theft, drugs etc. Thus, the generation of today who is future of tomorrow is ruining their life by involving in crime. Desire to be rich overnight and over materialism is making people running behind extra money. Vicious environment of corruption, illiteracy, unemployment, starvation all are further making society a tough, unsafe and unhealthy place to live. All this is stopping the growth of the country as young youth is becoming careless and negligent towards themselves, towards society which is thus effecting the growth in the adverse manner.

Crime rate in our country (India) is increasing day by day. We see Newspaper's columns are full with incidents of murder, rape, kidnapping, loot, drug crime, sex scandals. Youths are entering crime world and situation is worsening fast. School drop out rate is on rise.

Due to poverty I have seen personally someone being indulged in drugs and crime. I was in school and I had a classmate who use to be very good in his studies but due to the poverty in the house he always use to hide his real self from his friends. As he never use to show his friends that he comes from below average family due to prestige and not to be in insulted in friends. He started lying and hiding things from friends and class mates. Slowly his expectations started increasing from himself and people around but due to financial constraints. He opted for easy task of eradicating his poverty. He started chain snatching and stealing and thus end of the day he involved himself in drugs. His parents tried to help him to come out of it but he was gone far ahead thus a life of young boy is ruined due to poverty .

All of us should take few steps to remove poverty and bring a stable economy for every person. We should raise hands together for its eradication.
